Internet dating has sparked a huge sense of social anxiety. We quite often find individuals become open towards internet dating along with the many complications that comes with it rather than contact dating. Internet dating anxiety is being uneasy in connections involving a romantic companion. Why do we have social anxiety if we are not in front of one another? To answer that question, it is because individuals often are unable to make the necessary effort for fear of negative speculations by someone else. (Stevens, Morris 2007). “More people portrayed … “true self”, online … likely meet … in face” (McKenna, colleagues, 007, pg. 682). Imagine logging onto the popular dating site, BlackPeopleMeet.com, the first thing that comes to someone’s mind is: What if he sees my picture and think I’m ugly or what if she does not reply? Currently it is unknown how many people experience this appalling disorder. In addition, no precise age or gender is pretentious by this illness. I personally feel that having six different questionnaires and surveys played a huge part in the findings. After researchers analyzed the results, it made it easier to categorize each component. Although I loved the strategy, I felt that the study could have contained a few improvements in the participant’s criteria for an even more so interesting study. Researchers should have allowed an older generation of people to participant to give a boarder age-range of person. The study helped people understand who they really are and rather or not if they suffer with social and internet dating anxiety. This will solely influence the society of people who are afraid of acceptance and branching out.
