The Old Testament is a library of 39 books inspired by God. The Old testament can be divided into 5 divisions: The Law, History,Wisdom and Poetry, Major prophets, and Minor prophets. In reading and studying the Old testament one can reason that the world is extremely complex and it did not come into play just by chance. The big bang theory may fill the void for many, but something about it just didn't add up for me, and if this was what really happened, then who started the big bang. Think about how complicated this world is, and how everything is connected. The earth is placed the perfect distance from the sun, if it was any closer everything would burn on the surface and placed a little further everything would be frozen. God is the great creator of all as we know it. God only used 6 days to create the world and no other can accomplish that feat, even if they had a million years. God created man and man ruled over the animals and fish of the sea. Man had a direct relationship with God, this relationship was personal. Adam was at a justified state in the garden, because he was sinless and immortal. Adam and Eve failed to listen to a simple command from God of not eating of the tree of knowledge (Genesis 2:16-17, Kjv) . Looking at this paramount failure man went from living forever to having his days numbered. “Man also had to toil the land by the sweat of his brow, and women to bare pain in childbirth. Gods creation fell from grace and God recognized that and already had a plan for man to be reconciled back to his previous relationship. The Old testament sets up the fundamental morals of Christianity, in Genesis you see that God made Adam and Eve. Man was by design to be paired with women, not man to man or women...

...ents or didn't acknowledge his great sovereignty. Look at the King Nebuchadnezzar he would acknowledge everything he did and not give the Lord the glory, so the Lord made him act as a beast of the field and he went out of his mind , then the Lord restored him only when he was tired of his situation and was ready to acknowledge him. We see that everyday we arise it is not of our own accord , but its the grace and mercy of the the Lord. This was a very rewarding experience for me, I count it an honor and a privileged to be able to study the Lords word.

The Exodus of the Israelites is the equivalent to our present day Fourth of July or Bastille Day to the French. Israelite writers discuss the Exodus the most out of any other event in history. The story of the Exodus is one of the most famous stories of the Old Testament. Three of the most significant aspects of the story of Exodus are the call of Moses, the use of plagues as miracles, and the Passover.
The Old Testament and the Bible itself has been studied extensively for centuries. Archeologists and Scholars have labored and pondered over texts trying to decipher its clues. It does not matter how many times the Old Testament has been studied there will always be something new to learn about it or the history surrounding it. In the book Reading the Old Testament: an Introduction, the author Lawrence Boadt presents us with a few different authors of the Old Testament that used different names for God and had a unique insight into the texts. These four sources are titled P for priests, E for Elohim, J for Jehovah, and Y for Yahweh (95). These four unique sources help us realize that there is more than one author of the Pentateuch. These authors took the text and adapted for their culture. This independent source is used by scholars to help gain insight into what was behind the texts of the bible so we are not left with an incomplete picture of what went into the creation of the bible. Julius Wellhausen used these four sources to publish a book to able us to better understand the sources and to give it credibility with the Protestant scholars at the time (Boadt 94). These sources that is independent of the bible as in the DVD Who Wrote the Bible? and the Nova website aide in shedding light on the history that surrounded the writers who wrote the text and what inspired them to write it in the first place. The DVD shows the discovery of The Dead Sea Scrolls and the extensive history of the texts and all its sources in an effort to try to find exactly who wrote the bible (Who Wrote). These scrolls have aided scholars immensely by giving us some of the oldest known manuscripts of the bible in the world today. It shows that the bible w...
The Sacred Scriptures recounts that Moses, after leaving Egypt, Moses led the people of Israel for forty years through the desert, facing grave dangers, fighting fierce enemies, and enduring harsh penalties, heading for the Promised Land. However, it is also known through the lines of Deuteronomy that once Moses reached the gates of the Promised Land, he had to say farewell to the people. Moses died there without being able to reach the longed-for goal. He had been, and still is, the greatest figure in Israel, the liberator of the people of Israel from the Egyptian captivity, and yet he died in exile, buried in a tomb that nobody could ever visit because nobody knows where it is (Deut. 34: 1 – 6). But, the question that many are asked is: why

The Hebrew Bible, better known as the Old Testament, is a collection of tomes that form part of the Biblical canon. Many scholars around the world do not think that a single author wrote the books contained in the Hebrew Bible, but rather that it represents centuries of stories frequently compiled after the events they describe . The stories were created with visions for the future, in order to allow audiences insight into communities and beliefs that were common thought during their era. The stories responded to the issues and problems of their time, but also addressed contemporary climates. While the stories themselves may not be true, they convey truth without needing literal readings. For example, the creation stories in Genesis, portray God as creating the universe, and while this is considered as not ‘literally true’; the stories communicate theological truths about mankind’s relationship with God through the eyes of Hebrew writers .
In the days of Christ’s life on this earth, believers did not have access to the Bible in its entirety as we know and are familiar with today. Believers in this ancient time period only had access to the Old Testament. However, through their access to the Old Testament, believers were provided a foundation for New Testament times. This foundation provided New Testament believers with the Lord’s established principles of right and wrong they were expected to follow. In addition, the Old Testament is overflowing with accounts of people whose lives exemplified the future life of Christ on this earth. These pictures allowed the Israelite nation to begin to have an understanding of why Christ needed to come as their Messiah and the work He needed to do on earth. Finally, there are common themes that are interwoven throughout the entire Old Testament. Three of these themes: transgression, redemption, and consummation point to the purpose of Christ’s atoning death on the cross. These themes portray God’s work both in the lives of Old Testament believers, but they also foreshadow God’s desire and plan for believers in New Testament times and beyond.
(1) Name and define the three sections of the Hebrew Bible and explain how each section separately and collectively influence the Jewish people.
The book of Hebrews is a unique portion of the Bible because it is written as though it were a letter, directed at people the writer may have known. However, the book targets a seemingly broad audience of those without faith and also those that could be described as believers that have experienced persecution. A salient message within Hebrews is that people must persevere when they feel persecuted because Jesus Christ is their salvation, regardless of anything else that is happening in the people’s lives. An emphasis on the greatness of Jesus and his role as a mediator between God and those on Earth is dominant throughout the chapters and verses.
“Community, the genuine union of beings, is created out of the depths of promise of my being. It is not produced. Community is meeting; and that meeting which calls to the other from all that I am is essentially creative: something new happens, I become something that I was only potentially before, and in this connection I must think in terms of gilt or grace” . "Community, Martin Buber writes, "is where community happens” . There is something in genuine meeting which extends beyond calculations, plans, and projects. In other words, community is a gift. Each member is a gift to the community. Being gift to the community means that “each member of the community is not a part-time member but actively participates and shares in the life of the community such as time, talents, love, views and
The period begins with Joshua leading in a series of military battles, such as at Jericho, which gave the Israelites partial control of the land occupied previously by their ancestors. The land was then divided up according to tribal consideration. This history covers two generations, the First Generation of freed Israelites that came out of Egypt with Moses, and the Second Generation they entered Canaan with Joshua. 7 Years were spent in war with the rebellious idolaters that inhabited the land. They were instructed, but disobeyed God’s command to conquer and destroy all they encountered. Rahab served as an ally to the Israelites and ultimately served as God’s catalyst to overthrowing the Canaanites. Settled in Canaan and distributed among the 12 tribes of

Before one can know the purpose of the church it is helpful to know what the church of Jesus Christ entails. When Christ was still on earth, He told the disciples of what the true church should consist. Therefore, it is helpful to dig into the New Testament to find everything Jesus said about what the church is to be in this world.
Demonstrate and characterize 3 ways the New Testament uses the Old Testament. What are the theological motifs at play in NT usage of the OT?
The Concept of the Covenant in the Old Testament, maintains, establishes, and identifies the important ideas or the subject of the Israelites history in the Bible. According to The Encyclopedia of Judaism, covenant “refers to a general obligation concerning two parties. It was confirmed either by an oath, a solemn meal, a sacrifice, or by some dramatic act such as dividing an animal and passing of the parties.” God first established the cut covenant with Abraham before He established defining and yoking covenant at Sinai in Exodus. The term “Covenant” has been used for centuries to understand the content of the Bible and the flow of God’s purpose through age's. God use’s Abraham’s Culture to make him understand His covenant with him. God
