After being first hand effected by the unexpected taking over a family’s financial life, I have realized how important it is to be smart when making financial decisions as young as possible. Consequently, a higher education goes hand-in-hand with that goal in life. By earning a higher education, compared to those who do not, occupations are much easier to come by. Grades have always taken priority in my life and as I near the end of my senior year, I am anxious to continue that educational success. In Economics, whether learning from Dave Ramsey or the Everfi Program, we discuss our futures regularly and what type of reality is in our future. Both programs coincide with the simple truth we hear often, but not many apply: be smart with your money because debt is something to avoid at all costs. While many schools offer media and broadcasting degrees of various generalizations, Oklahoma State is one of merely 20 schools in America that offers a Sports Media/ Sports Communication bachelor’s degree (“Compare Colleges with Sports”). Although expensive, Oklahoma State offers a significantly unique education for the occupation in which I desire. The yearly cost of tuition, room and board, and books and supplies totals an estimated amount of $31,860 for nonresidents of the state of Oklahoma (Financial Aid Office Staff). Many of my classmates are attending Kansas State University, where on average the yearly tuition is approximately $20,593 for in-state students (Admissions Office). Similarly, a distinguishable amount of my graduating class plans on attending Garden City Community College.
