In an article written by Andrew Lehren, the author provides the bold statement that “the only thing worse than graduating with lots of debt is not going to college at all” (Lehren). In today 's society, many families lack the funds to provide a full ride for their children in terms of college. Due to this fact, many people turn to alternate solutions such as loans or diving straight into the workforce instead of attending college at all. These solutions, however, may greatly affect a person throughout the course of their life. The problem of college debt is increasing rates in regards to tuition, however, fortunately there are various solutions accessible in order to decrease or eliminate the debt that many american students face. It is a proven fact that the price4 for college tuition has increased drastically in the recent years. As a result, acquiring the means to pay for college has become a troublesome problem in many households. Depending on student loans is a popular method to counter the problem, yet paying back the debt is a problem of its own. Although tuition may serve as a challenge, there are several solutions to limit debt. The first solution to limit debt for a student is working and saving while attending school. Another solution includes attending a community college instead of,or before, a university. As a final solution, applying for scholarships can limit or diminish the amount of money needed to borrow, therefore, decreasing future debt. To start, one considerable solution to help with student debt is working and saving. At this point in life, saving money is an easy strategy due to limited responsibilities and bills. Since scholarships do not need to be paid off through interest, students do not have to worry about future debt. Hence, in the future, a student 's focus can be directed towards other aspects instead of earning enough income to satisfy fines.The weakness presented by this solution is the time required. Scholarships often call for essays, and there is no guarantee that a student will get the scholarship. Due to this lack of assurance, scholarships can appear as a risk that is not worth the effort. Tuition rates are gradually increasing which causes panic among many American students today. Luckily, solutions exist that will assist families in dealing with such issues. Afterall, hard work and dedication trumps all, so working hard towards one 's education will benefit oneself significantly later in life.
