The director of Of Mice and Men, Gary Sinise starts off the movie with an awesome chase scene with our two main characters, Lennie and George. The chase also starts off with suspense, where a girl in a red dress with a hole in her dress. The director also made the movie more suspenseful by adding in suspenseful music. Gary Sinise did a good job of getting the audience hooked into the movie in a cool, suspenseful way. Sinise did a great job with the imagery throughout the entire movie by showing the scenery around Lennie and George. In the beginning just after the chase scene, George and Lennie are talking. In that scene, the camera zoomed in and out to show the nice background with mountains and trees. After that scene, George and Lennie walk into the ranch, and the camera zooms out to show most of the ranch and shows what the ranch is called. These views helps the audience understand that they live in the 1900s in Southern California. This is important because it helps the audience understand and feel they are in the movie. When Carlson shoots Candy’s old dog, they In the beginning during the chase scene, they have creepy music that creates suspense. The music helps make the beginning more interesting. When George and Lennie are talking about their dream, they play nice and soothing music to express the feeling in the room. When Candy’s dog is killed, they played very sad music to show the mood in the bunkhouse. Later in the movie, George and Lennie are talking about their dream again, and they play really happy music when they realize their dream is possible. The music gets dramatic when Lennie fights Curley to show the mood of the scene. Then, at the scene when George kills Lennie, they play adventurous music to show something bad is going to happen and then when George is having a flashback about Lennie, they play incredibly sad music.
