The ocean itself is vast and abundant of organisms and products that people do not even know exist yet. Around seventy percent of the world is the ocean and on top of that ninety five percent of the ocean has yet to have human eyes set upon it. What people do know is that the ocean is an “underwater tourist heaven” containing huge volcanos that are 2 times as large as the ones surfaced as well as trenches that are about twenty five percent larger than Mount Everest! This alone demonstrates that people of this world do not know enough about the ocean and exploring more in depth will open the door to new discoveries and opportunities. The ocean is home to many as well, but houses a multitude of materials, compounds, and knowledge that can benefit …show more content…

For example, to find the people that said tilefish was shaping the seafloor, the group of 4 men had to take a submersible down to the depths of the ocean (Sullivan). Without the descent of this 4 men submersible team, the group of scientists may never have found out the amazing discovery the team found the tilefish in the first place. Also, submersibles prove data that has been already collected to create something amazing which is a digital map of the seafloor. "Our new map brings out the enormous ecological and geological complexity of the sea floor that before we had no idea about," Professor Muller said ("Digital Map of Sea Floor Reveals Kaleidoscopic Variety") about the data collected from the new map. From the new data collected, scientists and researchers are handed information they never would have had before the mapping. For instance this article states, “The map also reveals how complex ocean basins really are. New organisms introduced like Diatoms which are among the most important aquatic micro-organisms - they produce about a quarter of the oxygen we breathe and make a bigger contribution to fighting global warming than most land-based plants” ("Digital Map of Sea Floor Reveals Kaleidoscopic Variety") information that was gathered due to the new information at hand. The only way for researchers to become even relatively close to finding out this newly introduced technology in the first place was sending down submersibles to see it with their own eyes to clarify and prove it. Adding on, with the assistance of submersibles, Scientists have discovered hydrocarbons at the bottom of the ocean which are building blocks that are essential for life ("Evidence for Undersea Origins of Life."). Through this new data, scientists can concur that the hydrocarbons were generated by a chemical reaction of seawater with mantle rocks which
