The new proposal has two separate parts. The first part requires that occupational or physical therapy services claims begin to indicate whether the provider was a practitioner or assistant beginning in the year 2020. The second piece of this proposal has language that suggests they reduce the payment for any work the OTA’s and PTA’s. The proposal suggests that assistants would be payed 85% of what an occupational therapist practitioner would be reimbursed with. This in part is due to the move to do the same with general practitioners and physician assistants who are paid 85% of what general practitioners are paid.
