How do you capture the attention of people? Well, a civic group by the name of OUTRAGE has knowledge in that department, due to their upper case lettering and strong group name. OUTRAGE stands for the rights of all those that are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender. OUTRAGE is located in the United Kingdom and was founded in 1990. The social problem that exists in the United Kingdom is unjust regulations being placed upon those that re lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. An example of this would be the age of consent for homosexuals being different than heterosexuals. In 1994, the age of consent for homosexuals was set at 21, while the age required for those who are heterosexual was 16. “After the vote OUTRAGE managed to enter the Labour Party National Executive Committee meeting where it protested about the 35 Labour MPs who had voted against equality”(Wikipedia 2015) The actions taken by those in OUTRAGE led to “the amendment to the Sexual Offences Act equalised the age of consent for all sexual acts at 16”(Wikipedia 2015) When I visualize the great ways OUTRAGE …show more content…

Nowadays, OUTRAGE isn’t as active as they used to be, but they are still working to support any lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender by using their website to lead viewers to recent news stories, which mostly pertain to LGBT people. An example of those stories posted on their website was about A LEADING human rights activist has urged North Devon schools to do more to tackle the bullying of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender children”(Wilkes 2015). This only better proves the point that OUTRAGE is always giving some effort to provide structure to those who are going through hard times and do not have the support to be heard.
