Cultivated foods nowadays are used for mass production so farmers can get more of the food out for people to buy however the nutritional value of foods is decreasing because of the mass productivity and this in the long leads towards obesity. To achieve this mass production farmers use pesticides and fertilizers to stop insects and animals from getting to their crops not only damaging and maybe killing the animals but also having an effect on our health and decreasing the nutritional value of the crop itself. What Organic foods promote is the fat that the nutritional value of the product we receive is high and we are getting the healthy nutrients we need from organic farming which is why it is healthier for the consumer. Organic food is a A lot of research has been done over the past five and six years about organic foods and whether it is healthier or not, in terms of antioxidants it is seen to be more prominent in Organic foods then in any other type of conventional food. The antioxidants in Organic food seem to be more beneficial to a person’s health then conventional food is. Organic food is also a lot safer for your heart as all the unwanted toxins from pesticides and fertilizers that not only kill the nutritional value but also may end up shortening a person life span by eating conventional food is very high. Their risk of eating all these toxins may have a huge effect on your heart and your immune system and by eating Organic foods you don’t have this worry that conventional foods come with. Organic food is not prepared using chemical toxins so therefore it cannot affect our health negatively as it is produced more naturally then other foods. Because farmers use natural fertilizers like manure and worms and insects it has a much better effect on our health than any other conventionally grown food that the consumer will buy without knowing the harmful effects that come with doing this. As you can see here the effect of Organic food on people’s health is good as people are finally getting the nutrients they need on a daily basis and to be able to live now in the twenty first
However I believe that if I start planting many fruit trees in my yard that can be a problem for me. Nowadays the houses in the city of Houston have many cables on the land. I know that because one day my mother and I were making a hole in the yard to plant a fruit tree and because the tree was large, she made the hole deeper, and we saw some cables in the ground. So I noticed that we could provoke an accident like destroying the whole electric system of my house or my neighbor’s houses. So I think that growing my own food has some benefits, but I just have to make sure that the food I plant does not take extensive amounts of land. For example, planting tomatoes it is a good idea, and I notice that because my mom had planted some in the yard. Tomatoes do not take too much space, do not grow too much, we save money, time, and we eat healthy. Because we have grown our own tomatoes, we can eat them happy knowing that we are eating high quality of food. In addition, I believe that growing my own vegetables in the yard decreases the chances of having diseases like cholesterol, and high blood pressure. Therefore, I am interested on knowing the benefits that people could have if they eat more organic
A gene used for pest control, Bt, has infected these foods. You would never know this gene existed because it’s not included in the label. Organic foods are specifically labeled as organic whenever you may find them at a grocery store or elsewhere. These foods are known as being essentially grown in healthy soil, in other words, a soil that isn’t infected with poisonous, synthetic fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, or fungicides. Although organic foods are more expensive, it is only the result from the frequent crop rotations completed by the farmers during long, hot hours under the sun. Conventional farming methods destroy topsoil whereas organic farming can improve the overall health of the topsoil. Farmers who partake in organic farming view it as feeding the soil and not the plants. Due to this thinking method, a healthy soil provides healthy plants, healthy people and a healthy environment. Organic farming has the ability to feed an entire population and put an end to starvation. The dangerous pesticides that are added with conventional farming are outdated and risky to mankind. Relying on synthetic fertilizers and chemicals are paralyzing our
she is feeding 129 people across the United States. Organic farming and conventional farming produce the same yields as crops and animals. The large scale organic system could be beneficial if the standards are changed and made better for the environment. It is argued by many that organic farming is still a benefit to animals and the environment, even when it is done in the industrial setting.
For some reason all a product needs is a little sticker that says organic, and people automatically believe that it is healthier. No one ever stops to ask what this sticker means. Instead they just trust that organic is healthier than the produce that is being sprayed with chemicals. The rise of organic food has created an illusion that organic food is healthier and has nutritional benefits that exceed those of conventional food products.
With the world’s population continuing to increase, the demand for food is higher than ever. This increase in food demand also calls for more efficient ways of growing and providing the food. Two methods that are very controversial are the organic and conventional method. While many people support the organic method because of its known benefits, others feel that it is an over inflated industry that cheats consumers out of their money. But recently many studies have disproved those critics. These studies prove that Organic food is a better choice than conventional because it is better for the environment, avoids the use of chemicals, and is generally more beneficial.
Sup Point B: Organic food is different from conventional food in several ways. Organic food uses natural resources like manure and compost in to enrich the soil where food is being grown. Any form of chemicals such as pesticides are not permitted to be used in any form. Organic farmers use crop rotation to preserve the soil. Organic farmersdo not ...
Organic foods have become more and more popular over the years, and consumers may or may not be knowledgeable when shopping for organic and/or conventional foods. This report will help define the difference between organic and conventional foods and farming, including the health benefits and risks. The demand for organic foods will also be discussed briefly. The purpose of this research is to describe and identify the advantages and issues that are involved with organic and inorganic foods.
For years organic farmers and conventional farmers have feuded over which is superior. Organic farmers argue that their product is more eco-friendly because they do not use the synthetic chemicals and fertilizers conventional farmer’s use. Conventional farmers argue that their product is healthier and yields more. People tend to have stereotypes regarding the two types of farmers. Organic farmers are usually thought of as liberal, hippy, tree-huggers while conventional farmers are usually thought of as right-wing, industrialists. Obviously, some do adhere to this stereotype, but a majority of these farmers are normal, hardworking people. Although these farmers, both believe in their methods, one is no better than the other. There are advantages and disadvantages to both, but there is no true superior method of crop farming.
In order to have a nice meal and a healthy body is not an easy thing that everyone can make it possible because healthy food does not contain a lot of flavors. That’s why is hard to choose between the flavor and health. By the research from (foodservice.director.com) mention about different people will have different types of point of view. Some consumer said that there are no difference in term of the taste between organic food and non- organic food, but some consumer said yes, depends on the perception of people towards the taste of food. While for the freshness, believe that everyone hope to eat fresh food and not some foods that can preserve for such a long period. Organic food is a food that does not contain preservatives like normal product do, so the price will have a slightly difference. The freshness is also one of the health benefits, normally organic food cannot last as long as non- organic food. Therefore, organic food is produce daily and can be guarantee the
I try to eat healthy and purchase fresh produce. I am aware of a lot of chemicals that get pumped through fruits and vegetables, even the meat we buy. These are all factors that influence my purchases when it comes to groceries. I will admit that I do not buy totally organic, but that is also heavily related to the cost. Organic items are priced much higher than products that are not. I do try to find sales, and stick to organic, hormone free products as often as I can. I believe that a lot the chemicals being used to mass produce, and produce faster crops is not only harmful to ourselves, but it also can’t be good being put back into the environment. Many of the pesticides used will end up in groundwater and from there it is anyone’s guess. Having these chemicals sink deep beneath earth cannot be good. We also need to consider where these chemicals will end up and how that can affect us. I am also always hearing that organic is better because it’s better to support local farmers rather than the huge corporations that are contributing to the environmental
A study of 362 datasets found that organic agriculture produces 80% of conventional yield with 21% standard deviation (Tomek et al. 2012). Second, organic farming requires less energy input which equates to less money spend from the farmers in addition to lowering carbon emissions. A study by the Department of Environment shows that organic agriculture uses 25 percent less than energy than their chemical counterparts, and certain crops like organic leeks and broccoli use 58 and 49 percent less, respectively (Bialis et al. 2013). Third, organic farming does not use pesticides. According to the World Health Center, 20,000 people die annually from the exposure of pesticides (Costa et al. 2014). Fourth, the methods that organic farmers use are better for the environment in the long run. And lastly, organic farming creates more jobs. A study done in United Kingdom shows 93,000 jobs could be created if Britain were to make a full scale shift to organic farming (Herro 2006). Although conventional agriculture is the primary producer for food currently, a large scale shift to organic agriculture is better suited to feed the world because organic agriculture can produce at adequate yield, requires less energy input, do not use
Organic food is generally not much healthier than regular fruits and such nutrition wise with a few exceptions. “Higher vitamin C concentrations were found in organic leafy vegetables, such as spinach, lettuce, and chard versus the same conventionally produced vegetables in 21 of 36 (58%) studies”( Foreman). Also mentioned is that organic and nonorganic milk is not much different as “In general, milk has the same protein, vitamin, trace mineral content, and lipids from both organically and conventionally reared cows.”( Foreman).Despite the exception, it has been stated that the exception does not have strong enough evidence that can let a statement such as “eating organic food is more beneficial than eating conventionally grown food” stand on its own and be taken seriously. Another unfortunate circumstance on organic food is the price. On average, anything organic is priced higher than non-organic food, and according to Digestive Specialists Inc., it “…costs anywhere from 20 to 100 percent more than regular produce” (Digestive Specialists). The higher price leaves any financially struggling person or family less likely to invest in organic food when there is always a cheaper option available, even if the cheaper product isn’t beneficial to their health. The reason for this, mentioned by Health Research Funding,“…Organic farmers do not use artificial fertilizers, they tend to produce smaller quantities. Their method of farming is also more labor-intensive with weed pulling and crop rotation. And then there is the issue of supply and demand – as the demand for organic produce increases, so does the price” (Health Research Funding). The quality of organic fruits, while being mostly free of pesticides and chemicals, can also have a lot less time to deteriorate compared to non-organic foods. To summarize the issue, Mayo Clinic states that, “Because organic fruits and vegetables aren 't
they can increase choice of organic foods. Nevertheless, for the majority of people, they need cheaper food, and they should regard conventional foods as their first choice. No matter what people choose organic or conventional foods, their main purpose is to get a healthier body. If people focus on changing their eating habits, not comparing organic foods with conventional foods, they will be healthier. As long as people can change their eating habits like eating more vegetables and less meat, they will get a healthier body whether they eat organic or conventional foods.
Firstly, consuming organic food promotes good heath as it is more nutrition dense and has less toxic pesticides then convention food, according to a research study done by The Organic Center, organic food is higher in antioxidant, vitamins and minerals. Study matched pair of both organically grown food and conventional grown and showed that organic food not only was higher in nutrition but biologically active nutrients, In another study done by reveals that dairy pro...
So instead of focusing on buying only organic produce, maybe try to support our local farmers, where pesticide levels are down. Although organic may be more “Whole” or “Pure”, the chemicals and methods that are used on conventionally grown food is very safe. In fact, humans have been genetically modifying food for a long time, and now we know that there are many safe methods of doing this (Chien, 2016). Obviously, the growers know what they are doing, as they have been doing this for a long
