Ever told a lie, or even been caught in a lie? If so, stay tuned to listen why Phillip, Dr. Seymour, and Jake barlow lied in the book Nothing But The Truth by Avi realistic fiction. In the book Nothing But The Truth it's about a boy named Phillip Malloy who goes to school to only be suspended for humming the nation anthem. As time goes by in the story Phillip story becomes nation wide news, leading to the school and Philip to be in deep trouble.In the novel many people lied, which could have lead to a completely different outcome if Phillip,Dr. Seymour, and Jake Barlow didn't lie.

Seymour inaccuracy throughout the story all the lead for many people to misleaded by the rules of the school district and the reasons why Miss. Narwin left.“Of course not. Whatever gave you that idea? Who told you that” (Ani,101)? Dr. Seymour lied about the school district basic rule, which was you can not cause a disturbance during the National Anthem just to make the school district look better. Dr. seymour lied also to the reporter to save her own career and dumping Miss. Narwin career in the trash. “Then we understand. Ted, it’s not the boy. It's the teacher” (Avi, 174)” The boy (Phillip) was actually the main problem because he broke the school rules while being a disturbance during the National Anthem while, the teacher (Narwin) was just following the rules. Then, shortly after this in the story she ask Miss. Narwin was asked to leave because of “budget” issues, but when its actually was because she was ruining the school's reputation. Along, with everyone lying this could have caused a completely different outcome of the book if they would have told the truth. The book would have turned to Miss. Narwin not being afraid of just going out in public if Jake Barlow didn't have the dismissal and omission lies. Phillip would still have his friends and track, if he would have not lied about patriotism to the nation. Finally, Dr. Seymour would have a phenomenal teacher in her district if she would have kept Miss. Narwin and cared about the truth. In conclusion, the book would have a contrasting ending is Phillip, Dr. Seymour, and Jake Barlow did not
