This ethnography paper is about a book named Nor-tec rifa! Electronic Dance Music from Tijuana to the World. The name Nor-tec from the book is or reduced as North Technology music. North is referring to the Northern part of Mexico Tijuana. Nor-tec music has popularity in Tijuana, Mexico generally with a younger generation of people. The music is commonly transmitted through the Internet. The median of movement for the music allows for it to spread to different areas of Tijuana, Mexico and other parts of the world including North America and Europe. The music is electronic based and created by people using electronic equipment.
The point of view of this ethnography is written from a third person perspective with some information coming from the writers perspective. The author of the book is not biased because Alejandro L. Madrid is a Professor at the University of Cornell with a Ph.D. in musicology and with his extensive background, he has the ability to collect information and redistribute it in his book without being biased …show more content…

The music contains a lot of repetitive and pulsing notes. This type of music is also often characterized with a lot of bass notes. Since the songs are created with electronic based tools, the songs that are capable of being produced is almost endless. The creativity of the artist can be endless because having the ability to create music with sounds and instruments from the internet create a large variety of possibilities for their creative imaginative genius. The songs often repeats multiple measures and keeps them the same, but sometimes the measures can contain little changes the pattern of sounds. The notes often do not ascend or descend regularly, and instead they jump around on the notes scale.
