Civil War started in 1981 with the X-Men story Days of Future Past, by Chris Claremont and John Bryne, which introduced the idea of mutants and super humans being monitored and controlled by the government to the Marvel Universe. In 2006 Marvel added new worriers hoping to capture villains for the camera, but that all goes downhill. One villain named Nitro, has enhanced his abilities and take no time to show his skill. Nitro in front of everyone delivers a blast that not only kills several of heroes but also wipes out the surrounding area including children, resulting in the deaths of 612 people in Stamford, CT. A conflict threatening to put friend against friend, brother against brother. It could call take a single misstep to cost thousands …show more content…
After Nitro destroyed the city of Stamford nothing was the same. The Avengers got blamed for all the lives that were taken in the ironic event. Iron Man and Captain America begin to fight over being known or staying the way things are. Iron Man was upset that they got blamed for the lives that were taken, making him want to apologize to the city by showing there real faces to the people. On the other hand Captain America disagreed. He believed that as them being super heroes the people should never see their face. This argument lead to the Registration Act. The act are fictional legislative bills that have been plots points used in various comic books and superhero films which, when passed into law, enforce the regulation of vigilant vs. criminal activity and/or the mandatory registration of superpower individuals with the government. At a press conference in Washington D.C., Iron Man gave a speech introducing Spider-Man to the podium. Spider-Man then talked about how over the past years, he had kept his identity a secret, then talked about the registration act and how it gave superheroes a choice: to continue the trend Captain America advocated and have people with powers completely unchecked, or that superheroes could go legitimate and earn back a little public interest. To demonstrate his support of the Act, Spider-Man unmasked himself and revealed to the world that he was Peter Parker. Iron Man traveled to the
The article was written a couple years before Justin Trudeau became Prime Minister. The Author focuses on Justin’s liberal attitudes, especially regarding a hot topic such as the legalization of marijuana. He comes across as a “hero for the people” type of politician. The author of the article skims over a variety of topics concerning what Justin spoke of in Calgary. It is a very short story, but I think that the writer got his point across on the subject of Trudeau’s progressive views, mainly when it comes to marijuana.
The Watchmen is a comic book that describes how vigilante crime fighters helped in stopping the nuclear war in 1985. The vigilante crime fighters worked in organized groups, whereby they formed the first organized group in 1939, named the Minutemen. The first group of watchmen retired, and in 1966, a new generation of Watchmen formed to help in fighting crimes. The new generation vigilantes sometimes interacted with the older generation vigilantes, with the Comedian belonging to the both groups of vigilantes. Despite the great role that the watchmen played in combating crime in America, their activities started becoming unpopular with the police, the citizens, and the media. The unpopularity led to the anti-vigilante riots, making the vigilantes respond with increased brutality. In 1977, the government outlawed vigilante activities, and some vigilantes quit the vigilante activities while others continued seeking justice through the vigilante activities. In 1985, nuclear war raised international tensions and it seems unavoidable. At the time, the Watchmen included the Comedian, Dr. Manhattan, who had supernatural abilities following an accident at a government research laboratory, Ozymandias, Nite Owl, Silk Spectre II, and Rorschach (Moore and Dave 2). At the time, the Comedian and Dr. Manhattan worked for the
There is no concrete evidence to support that claim; maybe it is that many civil wars are similar, or just that Marvel has a tendency to follow factual history in their stories, but 145 years between the historic and written events do not separate the two. After analyzing them thoroughly, they can actually be seen as very similar. The leaders of the factions in both wars share many common attributes, whether it be Abraham Lincoln and Captain America or Jefferson Davis and Tony Stark, and that is just the first way that these two grand incidents are related. The core topics that got each side warring were also very similar, and if the baselines are the same, the rest is bound to follow. Furthermore, the outcomes of the events were actually very similar after careful consideration. Every American History student knows about the American Civil War, and every comic nerd or Marvel fan is familiar with the iconic Civil War series, but the two apparently different topics share more in common than many realize. Conclusively, the American Civil War that took place from 1861-1865 and the Marvel Civil War that took place from 2006-2007 are all in all parallels of each other, whether it be in leading figures, driving issues, or dark
Satire is a great tool used by many writers and actors since ancient times. The earliest example that we know about is a script from 2nd millennium BC in Ancient Egypt (Definition: Satire) and since then has evolved into a great part of our society. Satire is used to point out the faults of human vice in order for change and reform in either of two ways. There is a very bitter Juvenalian or a mild and light Horatian. In order to fully understand these forms of satire, method, purpose, and applications will be addressed.
When I was a young, naive, and reckless preteen I was arrested for stealing panties. Yes, panties. You see, I was under the impression that attending junior high without proper matching undergarments would immediately be cause for ridicule from my fellow classmates in the locker room. However, my mother did not see the necessity for such things and refused to spend money on costly, unnecessary expenses. I desperately needed them and shoplifted a lovely red pair. I was caught, arrested, ashamed and gracefully served my sentence with a newfound respect for the law. No matter how severe or minute a crime is, it should not go unpunished. A teenager committing petty theft and an immigrant crossing our borders illegally are both crimes in the United States. Billions of dollars and resources are spent each year in an effort to apprehend vagrant aliens who illegally cross our borders into the United States. Illegal immigration is a burden thrust upon the United States yielding
In their graphic novel Watchmen, Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons establish their story during the Cold War period, when a group of superheroes tackle the task to save humanity from a potential World War III caused by tensions among governmental powers. Managed by the intelligence of Adrian Veidt, the worst was avoided after the attack of alien forces causes the death of millions of New Yorkers that leads to a temporary world peace. The representations of the Watchmen superheroes of Moore and Gibbons, particularly Rorschach, display the concept of heroism being a part of the real world, among the regular public of our society.

As Charles Dixon walked in his office he was thinking about what other fun things he should do to punish the students at good ole Merced High. As you could see Mr. Dixon is the commander, leader, or just as we call it today, a principal. After the war that happen between the students and the staff there as been a lot more strictness to the school rules. Ever since I left this school its basically been more like a public military school. Your probably wondering why I’m not at Merced High School well, I got kicked out. I was walking with my disc man to my class and all electronics must be off when the bells ring infuriately there happen to be a sniper on the west wing of the campus and has soon as the clock struck 8:20, they shot me! Right on my ear. I only didn’t go to the hospital I got kicked out for being tardy and I lost 30% percent of my hearing on my left ear!
Racism? Racism my fucking ass. This is about protecting OUT COUNTRY from ILLEGALS WHO ARE BRINGING IN CRIMES AND DRUGS INTO OUR COUNTRY. Any country, with any sense would have a stringent immigration law. You're right, there will always be illegals here. The goal is to endeavor to make it difficult for these illegals they enter our country. If these illegals want to come back to the U. S they can do so...
Illegal immigration has become an epidemic in the united states of america. Yes to some people, they say epidemic how life can’t be better or worse, they're wrong it can only get worse. Even to me it’s not the biggest deal but up to a point it can change are whole country’s point of view. If illegal immigrants keep coming into the united states of america we will start losing jobs and house, property lines and bills and taxes will go up gas will go even higher.
Our people are too blind to realize what fashion can do to a person. Sure first impressions are influenced by appearances. It’s true indeed that the first trait when people see each other for the first time is what they are wearing. However where do we draw the line? People excessively attempt to imitate runway models or their favorite artists. Becoming too wrapped up following the newest trend or the hottest style this season. Men and women desperately try to mold themselves into fashions “ideal body.” Fashion is harmful to society; it promotes harmful lifestyle choices, can contribute to bullying and often causes debt problems to young woman.
The latest Captain America movie Captain America: Civil War brought in over 1.132 billion dollars USD after its release in 2016. However, it may not just be the fight sequences and new superheroes that brought fans to the theatre. This movie’s backdrop of political commentary shows how the actions of real governments can reflect or influence the actions of fictional governments, such as the Superhero Registration Act in Captain America: Civil War which had a large impact on different superheroes’ actions. Political issues such as American based forces acting in other countries, the heavily debated ideologies of security versus individual freedom, and the recent polarization of American politics all take center stage in this superhero movie.
“It’s all edible! All edible, except the squeal!” (Okja). Bong Joon-ho’s film, Okja, was not only Netflix’s first original film to make a splash with audiences around the world, but also the first Netflix produced film to take to the big screens at the Cannes Film Festival (Taubin 30). While it was at first met with boos by the audience, by the end of the movie the Cannes audience was roaring with applause (Taubin 30).
“Satire is a sort of glass, wherein beholders do generally discover everybody’s face but their own” (Swift). Such beholders, as Jonathan Swift astutely emphasizes, are intended, through guidance of satiric narrative, to recognize social or political plights. In some satires, as in Swift’s own A Modest Proposal, the use of absurd, blatant exaggeration is intended to capture an indolent audience’s attention regarding the social state of the poor. Yet even in such a direct satire, there exists another layer of meaning. In regards to A Modest Proposal, the interchange between the voice of the proposer and Swift’s voice introduces another medium of criticism, as well as the opportunity for readers to reflect on how well they may fit the proposer’s persona. In such as case, the satire exists on multiple levels of meaning—not only offering conclusions about moral problems, but also allowing the audience to an interpretation of their place among the criticism.
