There are many examples of cities reforming itself over time, one significant example is Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. More than a hundred years after the discovery of gold that drew thousands of migrants to Vancouver, the city has changed a lot, and so does one of its oldest community: Downtown Eastside. Began as a small town for workers that migrants frequently, after these workers moved away with all the money they have made, Downtown Eastside faced many hardships and changes. As a city, Vancouver gave much support to improve the area’s living quality and economics, known as a process called gentrification. But is this process really benefiting everyone living in Downtown Eastside? The answer is no. Gentrification towards DTES(Downtown Eastside) did not benefit the all the inhabitants of the area. Reasons are the new rent price of the area is much higher than before the gentrification, new businesses are not community-minded, and the old culture and lifestyle of the DTES is getting erased by the new residents.
After analyzing a sample of 40 gulf view condominiums and 18 no gulf view condominiums it becomes evident that variations exist between the two different types of properties. When reviewing the data it becomes clear that luxurious gulf view condominiums can fetch larger selling prices and are listed on the market for fewer days than no gulf view condominiums. No gulf view condominiums fetch lower selling prices and sit on the market for longer periods of time since they are not as popular as condominiums that have wonderful views of the gulf.
I decided to buy because I could make a profit when I want to sell it and I can make renovations to the area. After thinking it through, I concluded that my total budget for the house/condo was about $250,000 but I wanted to stay under that price so that I was not house poor (which is when you put too much money into a house to the point where you can barely pay for it or live). My apartment is in Teton Village, Wyoming since I am being a larger animal vet and they have a lot of livestock and ranches out there. This condo is located at 7680 Granite loop Road (Unit 651). This space has two bedrooms, two and a half baths, and is 1,720 square feet. My condo also has a beautiful view of the mountains, good prices ($110,000), and has a beautiful living area. The complex has an asphalt driveway, a pool, and an underground parking garage.I decided not to have a roommate because I can pay for the property myself and I wanted the space to
As my family piled into our car for our four-hour drive, I sincerely hoped my brothers wouldn’t ruin the best chance that we’ve had in a long time. They were already arguing about who got what video game, and were not making my mom and dad feel any better about going. We were going to Illinois, to Chicago, to be even more specific. Chicago was the city I’d been dreaming about visiting for a long time. (Well, that and New York.) I could not believe that my parents were getting out of their comfort zone and taking us to a big city.
A ten-foot brick wall, topped with coils of barbed wire and broken glass, looms menacingly over all those who enter; this was my welcome into the War-saw Ghetto. This ghetto was established in Warsaw, Poland, just three years ago in 1940. In an effort to segregate those considered to be “undesirable” by Nazi standards, a portion of Warsaw’s people were outcast and forcibly moved into the slum. There, a population of over 350,000 Jewish people and other minority groups currently inhabit a destitute area of just over one square mile.
I spent most of my life surrounded by fragrant pine trees, rocky mountains, and sometimes extremely cold winters. At least one year ago, my family and I moved to a place that is the exact opposite of Colorado which was Phoenix, Arizona. Months before moving, we got rid of all clothing that resembled winter apparel because we all knew it was not going to be needed again. When moving to a new location, it the time to embrace new change, different cultures and certainly different weather climates.
They all loaded onto the bus at 8:52 A.M right after P.E. Then Mr. OJ stepped on the bus and told them that they need to respect the people also, other people there. Then he stepped off and the bus driver closed the door to take off. They pulled on to the interstate to head to Kansas City. When they started to get on the interstate, they noted there weren’t many cars on the interstate as usual. After driving for hour or so they weren’t any more cars they were the only ones.
Hell is expensive. This is my first thought as my plane lands in Las Vegas. The
What could be more perfect than owning a luxury vacation home at a world class resort and receiving rental income whenever you aren't using it? Condo hotels are the newest trend in vacation home ownership. Live in it when you're there, and rent it out when you are not.
The location is downtown Dallas because of all the buildings. Instead of choosing an open area, I choose a more crowded area to show how much the town has changed. Earlier in time, there weren’t as many buildings, but now buildings are so abundant. Choosing downtown Dallas is a perfect example of how before technology was less abundant compared to now. Downtown Dallas is also not completely filled with buildings, which shows the potential that there is a way to control how the city is advancing. Not to say that buildings are a bad thing, or that having fewer or more is a bad or good thing, but that the people around themselves are aware of the way the world is changing. If people are not aware, the world around will be the color of gray rather
When most people think about Las Vegas their mind immediately goes to the casinos, the glittering nightlife, world-class gambling and exotic shopping malls. But most of these people are unaware that Las Vegas is also one of the best places to live in the US.
There is a new stadium coming to town! We have chosen one of the most tourist attracted cities: Las Vegas. The sport is going to be Football. We chose football because it is one of the most popular sport in Las Vegas.
Green building has come forth over the past decade as a positive movement to produce high-performance, energy-efficient structures that improve comfort and health for resident, meanwhile, minimizing environmental impacts. Nevertheless, a common sense that green features is expensive and not suitable for affordable housing. Recent studies are showed that green buildings have a modest initial cost premium, but the long-term benefits far exceed the additional capital costs. For this report, I will introduce a financial analysis -Net Present Value (NPV), and discuss the impacts of NPV analysis for green affordable housing.
I stepped one foot onto the corner of Broadway and Seventh Avenue and it utterly took my breath away. My world stopped spinning at the sight of Times Square. I looked up to see flashing billboards, tall buildings, and crowds of people for what seemed like miles. Although it was a dense, dark night in the city, Times Square lit up like the middle of the day. Advertisements for Aeropostale, Kanye West’s new album, and broadway shows illuminated the entire street.
We are not longer a small band of travellers, we as a species have settled down across great lands, in which we have developed a notion of community. This idea represents home, in a literal sense meaning a physical location, while also representing the very heart of the community. This however, differs from across various populations and population sizes, but in major cities across the United States of America, we are keen to our imagined metropolitan community, for which we are willing to give up almost everything just for pride and self-esteem. This heart is often times the major sporting culture of a given city, for example the famous New York Yankees who hold the structural and imagery glue to bond and fuze the public and the social identity of the city resulting in the experience of communitas for the citizens of New York.
