I love relaxing with my family on fishing trips, however, it is impossible to replace the thrill of reeling in a spirited bass or competing with my buddies to out fish each other. On the other hand, fishing trips can be dangerous and present obstacles to be overcome. I had an amazing experience on my last fishing trip, considering one pesky fish managed to drag me to his level.
In the September of 2017, I accompanied my friends down to Pelahatchie to fish at their secluded pond. We arrived shortly after dawn and began checking our gear of the day ahead. One of my friends brought some bacon and hash-browns, so we all set down to some breakfast before starting the day. Once I finished eating, I start walking through the foliage that blocked

I quickly set the hook, preparing for my first catch of the day. While reeling in the fish, I noticed that it began veering towards the weeds in the water. I attempted to steer my catch to an area where I could easily scoop it out of the water, but the fish had other plans. My prey lodged itself securely in a patch of weeds a few feet off the bank, making it nearly impossible for me to retrieve.
I considered cutting the line, but I decided to attempt to retrieve the fish before giving up. Grabbing the line, I waded down into the water and maneuvered towards my opponent. As luck would have it, the fish reacted violently once I entered the water pulling me off-balance and into the water. Feeling the cool water soak into my clothes, I feebly made my way over to the fish, unwilling to give up the battle.
Carefully grabbing the fish, I pinched its lip and pried the hook out. Slowly waddling out of the water and up the bank, I hurried to our water cooler to deposit my catch and to dry myself off. By the time I was able to dry myself and change clothes, the sun was high over-head, signaling that our fishing time was almost up. Checking to see how many fish we had caught for the day, it was surprising to find eight bass, two of which were above ten pounds. Just enough fish to feed us all later that
The goal in those days was to catch a double. (God! don't times change - now you're nobody until you've had a 40!) I was being pestered by bream that night, and had already landed two of quite reasonable size. What with that, the full moon, and the wind rattling the trees and bushes, I was having great difficulty in getting any sleep - which was crucial as I had to go to work the next day. It was one of those spooky nights, and each time I closed my eyes I was forced to open them again to investigate a sound which just may have been something nasty! But virtually on the stroke of midnight the wind suddenly dropped, and all the clouds cleared away from the moon. The lake went flat calm, and it was obvious something was about to happen. I sat up on the bedchair a little frightened. Out in the lake a carp rolled over the bait. It was so light I could tell it was a common, and it looked quite big. The whole scene was so weird and dreamlike I really did pinch myself to see if I was awake. I was, and became even more so when I heard the slight click of the contacts coming together on the bite alarm, followed by the weary buzzing of the bell - a noise both horrible and exciting. I struck with little enthusiasm, expecting another bream. It soon became apparent that this was not a bream, and after a long and thrilling fight on my old cane Sealey octofloat I was opening the folds of the
On the first casts with our modified lures, we got bites and set our hooks, but only to the dismaying result of slackened line. Upon retrieval, we fou...
“Just show me the tackle and give me some bait. Then watch me go fishing, the rest can wait.” Fishing is one of my favorite things to do. It is catching a fish for either food or simply for fun. You can do it by yourself to enjoy the peace and quiet or fish with others to pass the time. Many people think fishing is an old man's sport but I think of it differently. It has helped to form my values, most importantly patience.
“The Fish” by Elizabeth Bishop is an excellent poem that goes beyond its straightforward subject. She vividly describes the act of catching a fish while also utilizing the thematic elements of figurative language, imagery and tone to bring many more ideas into the picture. Overall “The Fish” is a poem that champions the beauty of nature while also putting forth a negative connotation on all things artificial through a simple topic.

On this fishing journey that Harry and all of his colleague's had taken, Harry said to Mr. Johnson, "I think you're going to have a chance to fight one today." About that time Mr. Johnson had a fish on his line. He kept on pulling on the fishing line and giving it slack. For a few moments, they all thought that the fish mighty be dead, but after he got off of the line they knew that Mr. Johnson had messed up and let the a great fish get away.
Any fisherman will have his own opinion on where to go to catch those trophy fish and there are many states considered great, but these five best fishing states need to be on your list of places to visit.
• You need to know that fish has senses. They can hear, taste, see, and smell. They have lateral line which helps them to detect movement in water. When they are in danger, they can run away. You will really have to watch your movements because you do not want to go away with empty hands.
Attention getter: How many times have you been on a bank of a pond and said imagine if i caught a marlin. Well that cant happen in freshwater.
In this paper I shall explore the reasons behind why utility should be considered the “ultimate appeal on ethical questions,” as stated by Mill, and in ethical situations. In life, we should look to attain the greatest overall quality of life, which is done through obtaining happiness within ourselves. However, at the same time it is important to consider the pleasure of others as they, theoretically, would be doing the same for us. If people started to try and take advantage of others living this way and decided to become ‘free-riders,’ eventually the utilitarian system would break down and we would be left with a selfish world. This is why its maintenance is so important.
When Stripe was only five pounds in weight, a man named Jeff was fishing in the river from a bank in Mohave Valley, Arizona. After a long and unsuccessful day fishing, Jeff was thinking of packing up to go home. Watching the sun go down, Jeff started thinking he was not going to catch a fish that day . Just then, the pole jerked in his hand. At last, the thrill he was waiting for was here. The fish put up quite a fight. The fish would pull the line out and Jeff would reel it back in. Sometimes it seemed as if the pole, or the line was going to break as the pole would bend in half at times. Finally, Stripe was so exhausted that he allowed Jeff to reel him in. Jeff lit up his prize with a flashlight and gazed at him with delight. Stripe didn't
Although there is much debate about sport fishing being cruel and inhuman sport fishing should not be stopped. Fishing is not just a sport but a way of life many people and it has been for millions or years. First and foremost, sport fishing promotes bonding with the family and gives parents a time to teach their children about life. There are many families that do not spend much time together at all, but fishing is an activity that the whole family can partake in and enjoy.
At 3am my left rod tore off along a deep margin and I was soon playing what felt a better fish, after a nice scrap there a rather short, plump female sat in the net and it looked mid double, at least 15lb was my guesstimate. She had quite a distended belly, in fact it could have matched mine on a lesser scale and she was in perfect condition with a proud set of barbules, weighing less than I had estimated.
When you have to learn what bait to use for a certain fish or what color based on the water clarity and water pressure it becomes hard to be good. ”The hook had to be swung in a large arc upstream to where the water pounded out of the spillway.” The way you have to cast is a complicated art form you have to perfect. When fishing you have to deal with the fact you can’t fish some places. ”Once or twice a day the warden comes by with knife and cuts the lines and lets the hooks fall into the water and tells us if he catches us there again, he will arrest us, but we know he is only saying that to scare us and when he is gone second hooks come out, or third or fifth-however many it takes” When you fish illegally you can lose your license to fish for over a year.
