Have you ever heard the mistreated woman say, "I 'm in love, I can 't leave him!" Or, how about the man who is being belittled say, "I love her and that 's just the way our relationship is." Those statements try to make it look like love is the reason for the anger, hurt, or disappointment, but two people in love - real love - don 't have to say those things.
Love is an important part of our lives. That means opening up to your partner and talking about issues you are having. It also means listening to your partner 's issues with an open mind so that you can understand where your partner is coming from and be sympathetic to their concerns and needs.
The Grumpy Old Couple Myth
How many of us picture the grumpy old couple who bickers as they go through their day and see two people in love? I would venture to say a lot of us!
We have been taught since we were young that old people bickering is cute and shows that they have put up with each other for years as a true testament to how much they love each other. But, bickering is not a sign of true love. It is a sign of disrespect, lack of compassion, annoyance, and misunderstanding.
Two people in love do not bicker constantly. They do not fight about stupid things and talk about each other behind their backs. They support each other and understand each other, and they enjoy each other 's company with laughter, affection, and respect.
That is the type of old couple that people should be looking up to when it comes to love. The couple who can still have that type of relationship after 30, 40, or 50 years of being together is the couple that has spent their time really experiencing the love of someone
...an go on glowing forever. It seems to me that the eternal light is like their relationship will last even though they are still young and have a lot more to go through.
Interpersonal conflicts happen all the time and are not necessarily bad. In Hitch, there were many instances where some of these conflicts could have been avoided, had they communicated better. It can either destroy the relationship two people have together or bring them
two lovers are so into each other it will be hard to break them apart.
Second, we are selfish. As a human we are nature selfish. Some may say no I’m not selfish but deep down every human being have some type selfishness inside. Always want the best for people but once our love once is involved we go all out to make it happen. We value our own people more than other. It can’t change no matter what happen. In the article “The Myth of Universal Love” Stephen T. Asma claims “that the equality of human beings is “unproven.” It’s interesting that he feels no need to show that it is unproven and merely has to assert it, as if asserting it is a sufficiently rigorous argument.” In other words, Asma believe that it is obvious that people favor their family over their friends, their friends over their acquaintances, and acquaintances over strangers.
Socrates stuns the Symposium when he tells how Diotima showed him that “Love is neither beautiful nor good,” thus contradicting the theme of all speeches before his (201E). Diotima’s logic begins by postulating that love is equivalent to desire. This statement is supported by Aristophanes’s speech in which he describes the origin of human nature.
Brandon – Seriously though, John and Rhonda we hope that your love for one another is modern enough to survive the times, yet old fashioned enough to last forever……………… You really are a perfect match.
Time and again, history has created a star-crossed couple that overcomes all obstacles through the strength of love. Whether it is from Pyramus and Thisbe, Romeo and Juliet, or Jack and Rose, the only possibility to separate the couple is the death of one or both individuals. Love is defined in these relationships as fighting against all odds, class, society, and even family, in order to be with their loved one. While these stories may be fictional, history has presented a real case of star-crossed “lovers”, Peter Abelard and Heloise. This couple went to little length to fight society in trying to establish a relationship with one another. Although considered a love story to some, a relationship founded on lust, inability to fight for marriage, and union to the church, shatters the illusion of romance and shows the relationship for what it truly is, a lackluster liaison.
Once upon a time, there was a king and a queen. They hadn’t been king and queen for very long, at this point. They were very happy together, ruling over a small but wonderful and peaceful kingdom. Well, they would’ve been happy no matter how big or small or even real their kingdom was, because they had each other, and that was enough for them. But everyone has their weaknesses, even a happy royal couple.
"Old Man and Old Woman," a retelling of a Native American myth by Chewing Blackbones, a Blackfoot Indian, should serve as a lesson to all couples in how a good relationship works. In today’s society there is a great need for people to understand how to make their relationships successful. As the divorce rate gets higher every year; small children have begun to think that getting a divorce is something that is normal and to be expected. This story shows how to work through problems with a give-and-take approach where you make compromises, yet still stand up for yourself when you believe your convictions cannot be compromised.

There are many different kinds of love, as well as many different feelings associated with being in love. How we express these feeling, as well as the behavior love evokes when felt towards a person is how to recognize the good and bad sides of love. Love is an emotion that a person feels inside, and one that is so overwhelming sometimes we feel as though we may burst, and this is a good side of love. However, some types of love can hurt. Expressions of love, when displayed in a negative way, then become a bad side of love.
Some people believe that there is no such thing as “true love” they believe that love is nothing but an illusion designed by social expectations. These people believe that love ultimately turns into pain and despair. This idea in some ways is true. Love is not eternal it will come to an end one way or another, but the aspect that separates true love from illusion, is the way love ends. “True Love” is much too powerful to be destroyed by Human imperfection; it may only be destroyed by a force equal to the power of love. Diotima believed that “Love is wanting to posses the good forever” In other words love is the desire to be immortal and the only way that we are able to obtain immortality is through reproduction, and since the act of reproduction is a form of sexual love, then sexual love is in fact a vital part of “True love”. Sexual love is not eternal. This lust for pleasure will soon fade, but the part of love that is immortal, is a plutonic love. You can relate this theory to the birth of love that Diotima talks about. She says that love was born by a mortal mother and immortal father. The mother represents the sexual love, the lust for pleasure. The father represents the plutonic love that is immortal. Plutonic love is defined as a true friendship, the purest of all relationships. A true plutonic love will never die; it transcends time, space, and even death.
To better understand the concept of "love", lets define the value of love. Love is the most valuable commodity in the world. We all need love just like a fish needs water. Without love, life would not be worth living. With love in our lives, we are empowered beyond belief.
“Love is universally accepted by many people and the concept of love within the English language refers to a variety of different approaches, states and attitudes, ranging from pleasure to interpersonal attraction.” (Kendrick 123) My characterization of love encourages the intimate emotion I partake for my family. The distinct connection that we fashioned and the invaluable moments that we consolidated. In the perceptive of a mother, my children are my supremacy and the greatest blessing of my lifecycle. They’re my inspiration and motivation to continue progressing and becoming the best at what I do. With that in mind, Love relics your outlooks and approaches the linkage they become associated with.
