What do you plan to do with your life? At one point or another the majority of people have been asked this question. Most people today have aspirations and goals they want to accomplish. However, are those goals attainable for the average person? I personally have goals and believe that with hard work, ingenuity and devotion nothing can get in the way of reaching my goals. The American Dream is the idea that “hard working citizens can better their lives, pay their monthly bills without worry, give their children a start to an even better life and still save enough money to live comfortably after they retire” (Wallechinsky). Yet, today each individual has their own variation of success. During my lifetime I hope to accomplish as much as I can. One of my main goals is to go to college and become a nurse. After I graduate from college and start working I plan on getting my own place. I never want to have to worry or be stressed about how the bills are going to get paid or how I’m going to afford groceries for the week. One of the things I enjoy most is traveling. Scott Fitzgerald, Gatsby’s dream was to be reunited with his past lover. Before this could be done he had to work hard in order to impress her, knowing she came from a very wealthy background. Although it wasn’t easy and he longed for her every night, after three years he was finally where he wanted to be. Reaching your goals in life requires dedication and time.
