“Damn it all, why the hell did you have to aggro the patrolling mob?” I asked Doubleshot the Elvin hunter. The guy had repeatedly pulled aggro by attacking before the tank. The whole group was standing at the graveyard of Keisachal the Capital city of the Humans. It was built on a large hill overlooking a natural harbor; this had enabled the Human Kingdom to prosper through trade and shipping. It was a beautiful city and the graveyard was lovely with white marble statues and flowers aplenty. Plus us newbs standing in the tight whites that the game allowed us to wear after we had died. We would have to run through town to the front of the dungeon to retrieve our gear which was automatically put outside of the dungeon when someone died. …show more content…
The state now supplied everything housing, food, free education which was great but with the automation of everything, there was no work, so people had to do something. They did RealWorld, the most advanced artificial reality that had ever been made. In it people could become rich, they could farm or mine or become a lord or a lady. It beat the heck out of living in a 200-foot box with nothing to do but watched computer-generated bad movies. I was a level 1 player with not much achieved in the game. I had just attempted my first dungeon and it was a huge failure, the hunter had been a butthead, the 2 DPS had been useless and the tank had tried but failed. As the priest my job was to keep the tank healed and throw an occasional heal out to the other DPS, Instead, I had spent my entire mana pool trying to keep the huntard and the two DPS guys alive after the huntard would pull aggro. I then had to listen to the rogue and the warrior getting all butthurt about my not healing …show more content…
But the game itself is so unbelievable, to walk outside and feel the sun and the rain and wind. To see people gathered in squares and courtyards and to just mingle with a crowd. It was great.” “Very good Master Ryan, yes it is human nature for people to joke and not take things to serious but that will change as they level. Would you like a nice cuppa Earl Grey, to go with Supper?” I nodded; the cameras built into the apartment would pick up my movement and translate the action into an affirmative. The software being used in the modern AI was a direct descendant of Google home, Alexa Cortana, and Siri and more than capable of the interpretation all physical responses. “All right Master Ryan; shall I start the shower and lay out some clean clothing items to wear?” “Yes thank you, then look up all the priest leveling strategy threads for going single player mode. I think I want to try my hand at some single play while still in the starter zone.” “Taking the time to try to level like that is probably a good idea, experiment and see what you like and how it works for you, remember there is no hurry or pressure to level, RealWorld was made to be a fun environment that people can
Dr. Luther King Jr stated,“This is the most important and crucial period in your lives, for what you do now and what you decide not at this age may well determine which way your life shall go.” In the satirical fairy tale Dealing with dragons, written by Patricia Wrede Cimorene, the princess of Linderwall is a great example for this quote because she goes on crazy adventures. Cimorene was justified in showing apathy toward the expected social norms of her day because she helped save the dragons, escaped a life she did not enjoy, and she was able to avoid marrying someone she did not love.
Constellations have helped many people for many years. Draco the Dragon is by far the coolest constellation in the sky. The things that make draco the dragon interesting is the facts and myths.
It’s a valley in Egypt that was used for over 500 years during ancient Egyptian times as a resting place for Pharoahs. The site’s most famous Pharaoh buried at the site is King Tut, which started the Pharoah’s Curse legend when a group of Archaeologists died excavating the tomb. Almost all of the tombs have been ransacked since ancient times but, much of the beauty and architectural ingenuity can still be seen at the site. Don’t expect to see every tomb that the Valley has, though. Only a portion of the royal tombs is open to the
Another thing that makes Top Deck so interesting to its audience is the sarcastic tone of writing that laces the sentences like arsenic. An article contained in the section called Top Disc, on E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) previews computer and console games that will be released for the rest of this year and possibly next year (35-45). The article is sometimes humorous to read as it tries to sum up entire games in a few sentences. When reviewing the game Quake III: Arena, Cory Herndon explains: "Point. Shoot. Die. Repeat." (35) Obviously, this is an over-simplistic comment, but it parallels the sarcastic tone of the magazine. The readers of Top Deck enjoy this style of writing because the readers themselves are sarcastic. Society today has been so serious about everything that sometimes it is refreshing to read something so totally causal and carefree.
According to Brenda Ralph, “The earliest defenses comprised huge earthworks, timber-built, or motte and bailey castles” (Ralph, 2). One of the main roles castles played in medieval society was being used in case of attacks. “Castles were primarily used for defense”(IAC Publishing, Web). They were carefully designed to make it as difficult as possible for enemies to enter and attack. Men who provided military support could also be found inside or around the castle.“The main gate of a castle was often the most dangerous place in the castle because it was also a deadly trap” (Kalif Publishing, Web). The gate had the ability to close on both sides during time of attack. It would then trap the predators inside, and the small holes allowed arrows to be fired at them. Occasionally, if the attackers happened to break through the main gate trap, they would become stuck in the castle's courtyard. Defenders could fire arrows at them if they became trapped in there as well. “Stairwells were smartly designed to make it difficult for attackers to swing their swords” (Kalif Publishing, Web). Most of the stairwells inside medieval castles were skinny and narrow. This made it hard for there to be fights since there was not a lot of open space. There were also all kinds of unknown places inside. According to Kalif Publishing, “Secret passages led to secret chambers where people could hide...and supplies could be kept”(Kalif Publishing, Web). During time of attack, medieval castles were the places to
Technology is evolving at an all time rate. Every aspect of life seems to have a machine that can do what you used to do, for you: the car that can park itself, the stairs that climb… or rather escalate for you, and too many drones flying around to count. Clive Thompson explores the ever changing world of technology and addresses the best use for technology in Smarter than You Think: How Technology Is Changing Our Minds for the Better. The author begins by proposing an intriguing question about chess: who is better at it, humans or computers? The ultimate battle of grand chess master versus supercomputer. On one hand, Thompson refers to how humans are intuitive, insightful, and can read their opponents emotionally. On the other hand, he mentions
This world of artificial intelligence has the power to produce many questions and theories because we don’t understand something that isn’t possible. “How smart’s an AI, Case? Depends. Some aren’t much smarter than dogs. Pets. Cost a fortune anyway. The real smart ones are as smart as the Turing heat is willing to let ‘em get.” (Page 95) This shows that an artificial intelligence can be programmed to only do certain ...

The United States created a culture that exalted one race over any other. James Baldwin extended his concerns and fears to his nephew, James, about the world he will have to grow up in through a letter titled, My Dungeon Shook. The history of this country and the crimes it has committed ultimately falls on the shoulders of every person who believes they are innocent. Baldwin warns that this society has already determined what opportunities will given to some and what cruel limits will be placed on other, just due to their race. Sadly, this remains true today and without recognizing the devastation that comes from social divides this country is doomed to fail.
Well, since I was a little boy, I have always loved video games. There was something about it that made me feel great. While I didn’t know what it was back then, I believe I have an answer now. It’s about the journey, the adventure of playing a video game. When you pick up a controller or log on to a PC game, you are entering a world of vast possibilities and endless adventures. I’ve had so much fun jumping into the world of a video game. The experience of doing so is unlike anything else. I also play video games for the connection that I get when playing with others. Whether it’s with friends or complete strangers, it can be a lot of fun to interact with others in a virtual world, competing or cooperating with them. It’s also about that first time experience playing a video game. It’s unlike anything else I have ever done in my life. Let’s take Destiny again for example. Destiny’s raids, the quests that I mentioned earlier, not only require a tremendous amount of teamwork and patience but also require a fair amount of skill, as these activities are some of the most difficult activities a player can attempt. Allow me to clarify even more. In Destiny’s raids, there is a boss battle at the end, a final showdown that will prove that our team can conquer anything. They also boast a ton of great loot to obtain at the end. So when our team has been attempting a boss encounter for hours to no avail, it
The idea of technological dystopia, or Cyberpunk, is becoming increasingly realistic as we head into areas of artificial intelligence, easily portable electronics, and Virtual realities. Virtual realities have been a staple of the science fiction genre from Ender’s Game to The Matrix and more recently, Ready Player One. The Matrix, directed by the Wachowski sisters, was about robots with artificial intelligence enslaving the human race, trapping them in a virtual reality. Ready player one, written by Ernest Cline, chronicles a quest to gain control of a virtual reality. While The Matrix takes a darker, more cautionary approach to both virtual reality and artificial intelligence, Ready player one believes that humanity will eventually have to
The wait is almost over. Since its announcement over two years ago, both longtime fans and newcomers have been anxiously awaiting this latest entry into the Witcher franchise. Personally this is my most anticipated game of 2015, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. Not sure if this is the game for you, or maybe you just want to know a little more about it? Here is a list of ten things you should know about the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Imagine asking your computer to do something in the same way you would ask a friend to do it. Without having to memorize special commands that only it could understand. For computer scientists this has been an ambitious goal; that can further simplify computers. Artificial Intelligence, a system that can mimic human intelligence by performing task that usually only a human can do, usually has to use a form of natural language processing. Natural language processing, a sub-field of computer science and artificial intelligence, concerns the successfully interaction between a computer and a human. Currently one of the best examples of A.I.(Artificial Intelligence) is IBM 's Watson. A machine that gained popularity after appearing on the show
Most of the day the human mind is taking in information, analyzing it, storing it accordingly, and recalling past knowledge to solve problems logically. This is similar to the life of any computer. Humans gain information through the senses. Computers gain similar information through a video camera, a microphone, a touch pad or screen, and it is even possible for computers to analyze scent and chemicals. Humans also gain information through books, other people, and even computers, all of which computers can access through software, interfacing, and modems. For the past year speech recognition software products have become mainstream(Lyons,176). All of the ways that humans gain information are mimicked by computers. Humans then proceed to analyze and store the information accordingly. This is a computer's main function in today's society. Humans then take all of this information and solve problems logically. This is where things get complex. There are expert systems that can solve complex problems that humans train their whole lives for. In 1997, IBM's Deep Blue defeated the world champion in a game of chess(Karlgaard, p43). Expert systems design buildings, configure airplanes, and diagnose breathing problems. NASA's Deep Space One probe left with software that lets the probe diagnose problems and fix itself(Lyons).
The experience of game play can be described as an activity in which the player is virtually embodied in the game world. Anyone who has experienced the world of gaming knows how the engaging experience can manifest itself with “sweaty palms and chills down the spine” (http://www.eludamos.org/index.php/eludamos/article/viewArticle/80/147) when coming face-to-face with alien creatures; or with the adrenaline rush we get when racing a high speed automobile head-to-head with a friend. Gaming is an excellent source of entertainment. It provides an opportunity for social growth, provides a meaningful form of exploring expression, and provides heightened sensitivity.
