I couldn’t believe how it happened It was so exciting. It all started when me and my dad got all of our hunting stuff around and put in the truck. Then we headed to hunting property and when we get to hunting spot I get out of the truck nice and quietly and me and my dad get our stuff on then I get the gun out of the case and load the gun and then we quietly walk out to your blind when we get into the stand of course my dad sites in the chair and the chair makes a big “ POP” and I thought for sure that if there was any deer even close to us at all we just scared them.
But sure enough it wasn't 20 minutes later and I heard a big snap from just to the left of us in the woods not even a 150 yards. My heart was racing this was my first deer, I had never done anything like this and it was so hard to explain what it felt like I was so excited but on the other hand I was so nervous. Then it happened again “SNAP” this time it sounded like it was a little closer maybe 100 yards away so this time my dad said it is close and he got the gun ready for me and he held the shooting stick out for me and then a big old doe came out “do you want shout him” my dad's asks and I said ya and then Clicked the safety off and took a big old breath tried to hold it steady

I could not explain how excited I was.
“Good job bud” my grandpa said . And then we took it the meat processor. Then we went home and I had tell mom the whole story about what happened and it was just such an awesome experience that it was super
After an hour and forty five minute drive I was home. I still had over two hours of prime hunting left. I saw several deer that afternoon but they were all too far away for a shot. Just before dark I had a doe come in to about 125 yards away. Knowing that there was little chance that I could hit the deer I took a shot. Sure enough It was a clean miss. Disappointed I hopped back in my car and headed back to East Lansing. The next day I got up at five in the morning and headed to Muskegon. The next Tuesday my roommate and I decided to try are luck again. My roommate and I went to high school together and we had always been hunting partners. I had a class at one o'clock that day so we could only hunt till eleven that morning. We were in the field a half hour before light. I was optimistic that I could get a descent shot off that morning.
I was sitting in the old rickety chair that looked as if it had been there for five years. The smell of gunpowder hung in the morning air as I leaned over the rifle rest. My finger wrapped around the trigger as my eye focused through the scope of my grandfather’s Springfield ’03. I took a deep breath and let half out. My finger tightened on the trigger as I awaited the recoil and crack of the gunpowder igniting. Finally, when my finger’s pull was enough to move the trigger, the gun went off. Moments like this are why I love shooting guns.
Fall is just around the corner, meaning that it’s almost deer season and time to plan where to get some venison this year. Of course, there is no question that Alabama has plenty of deer, providing Cotton State hunters’ ample opportunities to bring home some meat.
...d my sister screaming my name. I got out of the golf-cart and thanked the man and went to our little black rental car, where my dad was getting my little brother into his car seat. When we got to the car, I explained to everyone what had happened, still out of breath, and my dad said, “Wait, you were lost?” He did not even notice I was gone.
At the age of 12 my Dad told me I would finally be able to go hunting with him, if I wanted. Although a pistol can be used, a...
Thankfully, I had been able to keep myself spoiler free as it relates to “The Deer Hunter.” For a movie with this reputation and fame, I was quite proud of the fact that I hardly knew what it was about, how it ended or even how its famous Russian roulette scene climaxes. I was excited to finally see this movie, in small part because it was the last film I needed to see to have watched every best picture winner from the 1970s. But, to put it bluntly, “The Deer Hunter” disappointed me.
I was too excited to sleep that night so I just stayed up and read. It was finally 4:30 in the morning and time to get up. After a quick bowl of cereal. I jumped in the pickup and drove to where I was going to hunt. It was still dark when I got there so I grabbed my stuff and started up the mountain. I got to where I wanted to glass from, and waited for it to get light, so I could start looking for elk.
We set up our camper and got everything ready to go for morning. Sooner than I knew it, morning came and that annoying alarm clock was ringing in my ear. I slowly dragged myself out of bed and got ready to go on yet another driving/scouting trip. This would be our first opportunity to really look around and see what these mountains had to offer. We spent several days really scouting the entire unit, and we had seen several decent bulls. Finally, the evening before opening day we spotted the best bull yet, and he was right by the jeep trail! I decided that he was the one I wanted. He was with a cow and a calf, so we thought he would probably be i...
...ls. She bolted to my right and out into an open field. When the doe spooked, this time so did the buck, ending my hopes of another shot.
For the first few moments it was silent, then people started spraying paintballs into the forest, I was forced to run behind a tree so to avoid getting lit up like a fish in a barrel. The moment i ducked behind the tree it was hit at least 15 times and by that point I was freaking out, there was literally nowhere to go and I hadn't expected it to be so ruthless, so as I sat there sweating bullets and listening to the paintballs slamming into the tree with loud cracks I started feeling that survival instinct that people get when in a fight or flight situation. I decided to go with the smarter option, I dove behind the nearest board then peeked up and started spraying paintballs into the forest. Anything that moved I shot at furiously, and for a while whoever had been shooting at me backed off a bit in surprise for a bit, but had no other choice but to keep on shooting back. We kept on going back and forth this way for about fifteen minutes when whoever it was stopped shooting and I knew that they were changing positions and that it was probably only one other person that I was up against, I checked my hopper and found that it was a
“Ok here goes the long wait”the longer I looked the slower that it seemed to go “oooops gosh I have to be a lot more quiet If I want to shoot a buck”.”There has to be a deer to come out soon”. At this point I was getting very frustrated because I have not saw a deer yet. Then all of the soden out of the corner of my eye all I could see was movement
The relationship between white-tailed deer and coyotes have a negative correlation across the United States. Whether or not one species’ population number has a direct effect on the other is unknown, but there is much research that may show a connection between the two. The population of white-tailed deer has increased in many areas, including Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP), Ohio (Fulton, Skerl, Shank, & Lime, 2004). In southeastern states, such as South Carolina, deer are an important food item for coyotes (Kilgo, Ray, Ruth, & Miller, 2010). Many citizens in the CVNP area believe the deer population needs to be managed with human control (Fulton et al., 2004). In order to get a grip on the issue of deer overpopulation, it is important
I have seen people kill deer before. I have been in the stand when my brother killed a deer. It was normal I have been hunting for my entire life. We get all of are hunting cloths on. I looked as big as mars.
Standing silently, I watch as the deer approaches me with great caution. Taking its time, it gently wades through the foliage; until it abruptly dashes away, getting lost in the miles of dark green terrain. Finally, I release my breath and stare at the large camera in my hands. I wonder to myself if my presence had startled the calm deer, or if the click of camera had scared it off. Hesitantly, I head back into the car and my dad starts the engine slowly.
Anyway, there we were, driving in the middle of the desert with the CD player going, and the darkness all around. Suddenly, a large javelina crossed the road, and I hit that wild pig with a big old “bang!” I didn’t have time to think about stepping on the brakes, because one second there was just the road before us, and the next there was this javelina.
