My whole life, I’ve never had a set career in mind for my future. At age 6, I wanted to be a princess. In first grade, it was a veterinarian, and in third grade it was an Astronomer (solely focused on Jupiter.). For the past few years, I have had a career in my mind, and I believe this matches up pretty well with it. One of my goals for this paper is to successfully match a career with my interests. A second goal for this paper is to realize and accept things about myself. Finally, I hope I will learn about myself through my survey results on CFNC.org. I mainly focused on my career cluster survey to learn about myself, and one of my biggest clusters was health science. When looking at my results for my basic skills survey, I realized that there …show more content…
was a common career that I would be interested in pursuing for my career. The common career was a Pharmacist. Imagine my luck! When seeing this, I knew I had found my career. While my interests are focused more on the Arts, my top skills include Active Listening, Writing, Speaking, and Mathematics (as taken from my Basic Skills Survey.) Within Pharmaceutics, I would use all of these skills and more.
When checking specifically how my skills suited this career, I seemed to have all the qualifications. To put a spotlight on my career choice, a Pharmacist, I would focus on the study of the creation of medicinal substances that have the ability to be transported, stored for a very long time, and how the drug would be given to the patient. I have chosen this career because I am interested in creating something that has the possibility to save lives, or even make living less painful. I would work inside, the hourly wage starts at $95,630 with 45.98 per hour, and the annual salary is $120,750 with with $57.97. The experienced salary is $148,180 with $71.21 per hour. The annual growth rate is 18%. Within this job, I’ll work inside and be expected to review prescriptions and be able to accurately comprehend the ingredients of medications in order to assess their sustainability. Another thing I must be able to do is provide information and advice about dosage, side effects, and medication storage. Similarly, I would maintain records and implement procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling different pharmaceutics to make certain that everything reaches legal standards. Next I could asses the strength, quality, or purity of medications, among other
things. However, this job has physical and mental demands. A Pharmacist does a lot of standing for a long time. Sometimes they handle loads of 10, or even 20 pounds. They are exposed more frequently to infections and diseases through patient care, laboratory work, and sanitation control. Sound and noise levels are normally loud and distracting, and more than one-third of this job is repetitive motions. This occupation can require irregular hours and weekend work, while always understanding a stranger’s speech, speaking clearly, and seeing clearly at all distances. In order to reach this career, my classes for freshman year would most likely be: Honors 1 English, Math 2 Honors, Honors Earth/Environmental and Biology, Honors World History, Gym, and to show variation, 2 semesters of chorus. My Sophomore year would be something along the lines of Honors 2 English, Math 3 honors, 2 more sciences, another social studies, a foreign Language, and 2 more semesters of chorus. The rest of my high school career would be similar, always AP and Honors classes. I would majorly focus on science classes. I hope to keep a 4.0 or above GPA during my tenure there, maybe a 4.5. While no specific scholarships come to mind, I will always try to earn some sort of one during my time at OGHS. Any and every scholarship is good enough for me. I am in the process of trying to play at least 2 sports, (soccer and basketball) and hopefully run cross country. Academically, I’ll participate in things like National History Day. My first choice for college would me: Eshelman School of Pharmacy at UNC Chapel HIll. I have the ability to choose to get an Associates Degree or a Doctoral Degree. Choosing the latter, I would spend 10-15 years in college in order to complete a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree, and lastly, a Doctoral Degree. I would live in Chapel Hill (it doesn’t matter off or on campus,) visiting home on breaks and long weekends. My second choice is Campbell University in Buies Creek, one hour and 49 minutes from Winston Salem. Unlike the Eshelman school of Pharmacy, I would only reach my PharmD. This degree would only take 8 years, and I would most likely live on campus for the first 2 years, then rent out an apartment. The Eshelman School of Pharmacy is private school and the highest ranked school of Pharmacy in The United States, I will have to take out student loans. After college, I will have to get a higher paying job to help myself get out of debt from the outrageous amount of student loans I am destined to have. The same goes for Campbell University. In the beginning of this paper, I named 3 goals: I wanted to successfully match a career with my interests, realize and accept things about myself, and learn about myself through my survey results on CFNC.org. I believe all these objectives were met because before this paper, I did not realize I had an interest in Pharmaceutics. Finding a career that I liked and could be good at it is amazing. I suppose I would recommend a friend to complete this process, especially if they were a junior in highschool and about to apply for colleges. My parents knew about this project, my I chose not to involve them. I wanted my paper to be unbiased, and my own words. Overall, I agree that CFNC.org was very helpful, most most career seemed to be in stem, almost none in the arts.
The following career I have chosen describes who I am, where I want to go, and what I want to accomplish in the near future.
Truck driving is a much needed career to help transport goods across the United States and other local areas. Commercial Truck Driving is the career I choose to uphold. Trucking is a way of transportation needed to keep business going. Trucking has been a part of my family for years so I fell in love with trucks now I won’t to drive my own. This career has a good background, career requirements, job positions, and a good reflection.
When we were little, we thought the word “Career” was not a big deal, but as a senior in high school, the word has become our reality as we start to finish our last semester. The question we’ve been asked all these years is, what do you want to be when you grow up? But our answer is simple: we don’t want to grow up. As an innocent kid it seemed like the time would never come, but it has. It’s time to get serious and really ponder this question.
Since a young age, I always felt inclined towards pursuing a career in the health care field; daydreaming about myself working at a clinic or hospital and making a positive impact on someone’s life. When I started college, I decided to major in Biology and explored the different career options the health field had to offer me by shadowing dietitians, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare workers to find my ideal job.

Application of career theories to my own life allows for analyzing past and future career decisions. Holland’s Theory of Careers states that one’s vocation is an expression of self, personality, and way of life. There is an indisputable and fundamental difference in the quality of life one experiences if they choose a career one truly enjoys, versus choosing a career one detests. A true testament to the validity of Holland’s theory, my job/career choices reflect my interests, as well as the evolution of my personality (internal self). My first job as a fine jewelry specialist and second job as a make-up artist echo my love of the fashion world. As I matured and became less fascinated by presumed “glamour” careers, I became captivated by physical fitness, nutrition, and medicine; I received my national fitness trainer certificate so that I may become a personal trainer. Nevertheless, my career decisions do not fit uniformly into merely one career theory.
A career in pharmacy is an intimate profession that ties improving patient health care, effective communication, and innovations in science and technology together. My personal drive combined with the education and experiences I have acquired will lead me to both my immediate and long-term professional goals. Improving patient quality of life, working directly with patients and a healthcare team, and eventually starting my own business will be benefited by a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, making pharmacy an excellent fit for me.
In this essay/report I will explain to the best of my abilities, my possible career path. I have wanted to be many things. In grade 1, I wanted to be a superhero, and that hope stayed out for a while. Later on, when I was 10, my brain started getting new ideas, exploring the world around me, thinking of other things aside form cartoons and I thought to myself, how in the world am I going to become a superhero? I started thinking of other jobs like firefighter, police officer, engineer, construction worker etc., etc. But then I decided it was no good. Then one day when I was watching an interview on TV, a firefighter was being interviewed and one of the questions was: How long did it take you to decide what you wanted to be? And he said a long time. Then I wondered how long a long time would be, I wanted to jump into the TV and ask the guy how long a long time was. Hmm, I wondered, how long is a long time and then I answered my question. “It’s going to be a long time ‘till it’s a long time, I’ve got nothing to worry about.” That question just flew off my mind until at the start of grade eight when I encountered this question again, and I answered it. It took a while and some research but I answered it. I want to be a Neurosurgeon when I grow up.
First, here is some important background information about Pharmacists. A Pharmacist is someone who is trained and licensed to distribute medicinal drugs and to advise on their use. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook Pharmacists do all of the following: "Fill prescriptions, verify proper amounts of medication to give to patients, check whether the prescription will interact negatively with other drugs that a patient is taking or conditions the patient has, instruct patients on how to and when to take a prescribed medicine, Advise patients on potential side effects they may experience from taking the medicine, Advise patients about general health topics, such as diet, exercise, managing stress, and on other issues, such as what equipment or supplies would be best for a health problem, Keep records and do other administrative tasks, Complete insurance forms and work with insurance companies to be sure that patients get the medicine they need, Teach other healthcare practitioners about proper medication therapies for patients, and lastly oversee the work of pharmacy technicians and pharmacists training."() Some pharmacists participate in compounding, where they create medications by mixing ingredients themselves. Pharmacists tha...
I mean these surveys are without a doubt important because then you can tell if that is the Career Cluster you want to be in. See what’s in that Career Cluster based on your skills and Interests. The reason for why you should take the surveys is so, then you can understand a head start on what you want to be when you grow up. My first
Coming to the point of my current career choice has been a long road. My idea of what a career is or should be has changed with circumstances and age. According to Weintraub (2005), “the average worker spends only four years in a job and will have 12 jobs in as many as five career fields during his or her working life.” (para. 1) My first career was marriage and motherhood followed by a surprising healthcare career. What the future holds waits to be seen. With a bachelor of science degree in information technology the options are wide open.
Pharmacists have very important roles in healthcare from all angles. Physicians and licensed practitioners that write a written prescription, the pharmacist reviews patient history, health conditions, and interactions with the new medication prescribed. As a pharmacy technician (for six years) I had a somewhat of an overview on what they accomplished in a shift but did not know everything on what I know now from this research. Pharmacy students that are in the process to obtain their doctor of pharmacy (D.Pharm.) go through a series of training, education and internship to become a well-rounded pharmacist.
All college students should partake in career exploration project because it gives structure and direction. The result from an assessment identifies and prioritizes which careers will best suit an individual person or student. It does not necessarily mean they have to pick that particular job or career; it gives them more chooses to choose from. Career exploration is a life long journey that is emotionally, physically and mentally stress full. I say lifelong because as time goes on so does an individual’s views, abilities and skills. Career exploration is very helpful to a career, because it improves a person's ability to become informed of their interests, skills, values, abilities, aptitudes, weaknesses and strengths It helps in the guidance of career matters across the nation, job influence, growth, work hours opportunities to name a few. An individual needs to remember that when doing this career exploration project to keep in mind that money is only a temporary fix. In the beginning it may bring you joy and happiness but as time goes on it will not keep up personal enjoyment i...
Firstly, the main role of a pharmacist is to dispense medicines to their patients according to the prescription given. Before this, they have to ensure that they delivering the right drug, the strength and dosage of the medicine are appropriate, as well as ensuring the medication is safety and can work effectively in the human body. (Swanson, 2005)
