Hello I am Belinda Cratchit! Many people know me as Mr. Cratchit’s daughter! I am Mr. and Mrs. Cratchit’s second daughter, my older sister is Martha Cratchit. In the story, A Christmas Carol, I am gathered around with my family around the fire and my parents are talking about Scrooge. Our family knows quite a lot about Mr. Scrooge because he is my dad’s employer. Although my family may not be the richest family in town, we are definitely one of the closest family in town. My brother, Tiny Tim, is a lame child in our family, has kept our family together and knitted us closer! Us Cratchits like to behave with lots of manners! We wear formal dresses daily and sometimes fancy dresses for parties! I love going to parties! At the parties there
are so many things to do! You can either dance, eat FANTASTIC food, and play games. The adults go for all of the dancing, while us children go for the games! But, equally the adults and children love the food, so there has to be a lot of it to go through the whole night. The food ranges, but it usually consists of nine courses. There are normally soups, meats, pudding, salad, rolls, pastries, coffee, appetizers, cheese, dessert, fruit, vegetables,tea, ice cream and sandwiches. Now do you see why I like going to parties? When we are not stuffing ourselves with food, we are usually just interacting with one another. When interacting you don’t want to get to deep into one another’s life, usually you are good talking about the weather, politics, daily life chores, etc. Also, you always want to be on your best behavior, and very polite to everyone that you come in contact with. We love to bike, skate, outdoor games, water activities, and pretty much any game! We love going to parties to play games, dance, and eat food! We have the time of our lives while we are at it! My family and I are very thankful for Scrooge’s change of lifestyle and we couldn’t thank him enough! Since he changed his lifestyle he boosted our family in a financial way! We are so thankful and he just made our year, and the years to come, so much better for our family! We love Scrooge and so happy for his change of lifestyle. We are hoping that our relationship will start to grow, and we can become closer to the person who just changed our life forever!!!!!

In the film, A Christmas Story, directed by Bob Clarke, Ralph Parker tells the story of a noteworthy childhood Christmas. The story takes viewers through Ralphie’s trials and tribulations in the weeks leading up to the holiday. Throughout the film, he narrates over specific events in order to highlight its significance to that Christmas as well as its impact on his childhood and adulthood. An example of a major moment is when Ralphie is assigned a paragraph from his teacher over what he wants for Christmas.

Fortunately, by the end of the play, Scrooge realizes that he was selfish and no good and changed his ways. For example, he donated to the poor.
In the story, “A Christmas Carol”, Scrooge goes through many changes, one of Scrooge is him being one of the most closed minded people in his hometown to the most thoughtful person. This happened when the Ghost of Christmas Present visited Scrooge and showed him Cratchit and his family. Little did Scrooge know one of Cratchit’s children, Tiny Tim, was dying. Him seeing this showed Scrooge what his little pay to Cratchit was doing. As a result, Scrooge began to feel a little more thoughtful and raised Cratchit’s salary in hopes of being able to raise enough money to cure Tiny Tim and to support his family. Doing this, Scrooge became like a second father towards Tiny Tim.

Its story speaks of a man, a man called Ebenezer Scrooge, and the changes in which he goes through. ‘’Oh! But he was tight-fisted man at the grindstone, Scrooge! a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, covetous old sinner!
Scrooge, was able, to repent himself from living a life full of sorrow and he learned to appreciate everyone, even the poor people. The Cratchit family always showed a positive attitude even with their poor living conditions. The Victorian age, marked a significant impact on all the poor families that were unable to speak up, causing them to allow other people to feel higher than they were. Fire is a light symbol in this story. The fire, was able, to open Scrooge’s mind and ask for forgiveness. Warmth, was spread across the town, even to the tiniest places that cannot be seen. Hope was the only thing that the low-class families never lost. They kept a firm in their wishes that someday, Scrooge would change.
The true description of Scrooge first appears about quarter way through the book, before then there are only a few minor references to his character. The description begins metaphorically as it features the words “ A tight-fisted hand at the grindstone”. Its metaphorical because it is trying to portray that Scrooge is literally as tight as the hand to the grindstone. Then soon after this seven adjectives follow, “ Squeezing, Wrenching, Grasping, Scraping, Clutching, Covetous, Old sinner”. They are used effectively as each one has an individual meaning describing seven trates of Scrooges character, which begins to give the reader a visual picture of how the character may conduct himself. So far all qualities of Scrooge have been negative and so it continues. Then the writer brings in the object “flint” and states all the negative quality’s of flint then compares them to Scrooge.
Bob Cratchit, had dinner with his family and could barely afford any food due to his low wage from Scrooge. Lastly, Ebenezer received a visitation from the ghost of Christmas yet to come. The ghost was strictly straightforward about Scrooge’s future if he kept acting similar to what he did. The three ghosts provided a prolonged climax to the story, giving Ebenezer a direct turning point in his actions and beliefs. He had adjusted to not making money with such an iron-tight grip internally, and with the conclusion of making life warmer and loving.
Family portrays an important part in Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol throughout the entire story. The three main points I am going to focus on are Scrooge’s relationship with Fred and family, Bob Cratchit’s family, and the effect Scrooge’s approach towards finances, work, and peers had on his relationships.
In the fictional play, A Christmas Carol: Scrooge and Marley, by Israel Horovitz, Scrooge’s first impression is not very good. He refuses to donate to the poor, he dismisses family who want a relationship, and he is miserable and tries to make others the same way. When two men come to see Scrooge, they were asking for donations for the poor. Scrooge, being one of the wealthiest people in the community, is very dismissive, wrongfully so, and asks the two men to leave empty handed. When Scrooge asks if there are workhouses for the poor to go to, the men explain that most people would rather die than to go there. Stories that have heroes also follow a very specific format, to please the reader/audience. This format is called “A Hero’s Journey”which includes the following restrictions; Status Quo, Call to Adventure, Assistance, Departure, Trials, Approach, Crisis, Treasure, Result, Return, New Life, and Resolution. However, if a student twists a rule a bit, they won’t get into much trouble. Therefore, when a story doesn’t follow the format precisely, is it still considered a hero’s story? It’s December of 1801 and the whole town is decorating, dancing, singing, and laughing as they get ready for a near holiday: Christmas. All but one pessimistic, obdurate cripple of a man. His name is Ebenezer Scrooge, an undermined old male swathed in dark clothing. He is typically found strolling the streets on Victorian London with poor posture, eyes locked on the cracked sidewalk beneath the soles of his shoes. Slumping along, carolers cease to sing near him and nobody speaks when in his presence. Scrooge is a prejudging business man who hurries to be left alone and disregards cheer. He is obdurate and blind to the consequences of his actions. Sudden wealth brings a snobbiness when his business partner dies, and as a result, his one true love divorces him, sending him into a state of hatred and regret. With this evidence to back it up, Scrooge can be perceived as a negative, crippling man with little tolerance to change.
