The primary source that I want to assign to my students is a letter from Mozart to his cousin Maria Anna Thekla Mozart on November 5, 1777. This letter was one of the evidences that shows Mozart's love towards his cousin, and his “humor” towards some of the dirty jokes. It will give us a better understanding in his music. For an example, in the letter he wrote “...I now wish you a good night, shit in your bed with all your might, sleep with peace on your mind, and try to kiss your own behind...” It showcases Mozart's interest in dirty jokes and it allows the students to have a better understanding of Mozart's personal life and its inspiration towards his compositions.

I hope by reading this letter gives my student (Music major or Non-Major) to have a better idea on how approachable classical music is and lets everyone enjoying something with humor. There are enough required materials that showcase seriousness in classical music. On one hand, it's good to give students (Music Major and Non-Major) something that's unique and more “fun” yet educational to read. On the other hand, it also will benefit many performer students who hate their academic studies to have a better time understanding and enhance their historical performance skill. People in today's society take classical music too seriously (from a concert setting to all the crazy analysis by scholars). Despite it allows us to have a deeper understanding of the structures of music, it also took away that simple purity of essence of innocence that we should have when we are approaching these great works. Finally, I want my students to question themselves what makes music by Mozart different to some of the pop music in today's culture. Does the lyric that Mozart offer in works like Difficile lectu mihi Mars, K. 559 so different to pop music lyric? In The Piano Lesson, written by August Wilson, Boy Willie devises a scheme for buying Sutter’s land. Boy Willie has one part of the money saved up. He will sell the watermelons for the second part. Then he will sell the piano for a third part. The only debating issue in Boy Willie’s scheme is the piano. Berniece does not want to sell the piano. This is the only reason for a defense in Boy Willie’s scheme. Therefore, I will defend Boy Willie’s issue of selling the piano and how that liberates him in reference to his scheme for buying Sutter’s land.
Boy Willie is the protagonist in the play The Piano Lesson, which is written by August Wilson. He is a foil character to his sister Berniece. He wants to sell the family piano. His biggest obstacle is his past, and his sister. Berniece wants to salvage the piano and keep it as a namesake. The quarrels revolving around legacies is the central conflict of the play. Boy Willie’s “Super-objective” contains two parts: fear and legacy resulting in memory.
Throughout history music has played an important role in society, whether it was Mozart moving people with his newest opera or the latest album from the Beatles. Where would society be today without music? With schools cutting their music programs, the next Mozart may not get his chance to discover his amazing talent. Music programs are essential to education. To fully understand this one must understand how music helps the human body, why schools have cut music programs, and why people should learn music.
Letters to a Young Poet “Letter One”, written by Rainer Maria Rilke, is a letter written by Rilke which contains advice for the aforementioned poet in the title of the piece. The reason for Rilke writing this piece was that a young, inexperienced poet sent Rilke a letter along with the poet’s own poems, which were called “My Soul” and “To Leopardi.” Rilke informs the poet that he is not comfortable with giving criticism, saying that “Nothing touches a work of art so little as words of criticism,” (p. 5). Instead of giving criticism, Rilke advises the poet on what first steps he should take in order to pursue a serious career in writing literature.
Throughout history, child prodigies have been celebrated as objects of envy and adulation. Rarely, however, have they been understood. Often taunted by peers, hounded by the press, prodded by demanding parents and haunted by outsize expectations of greatness, they are treated as wondrous curiosities. But their stories are often a sad and captivating one, marked by early achievement and the promise of something greater. The letters exchanged between Mozart and his family reflect a wider story of how complications arise during a prodigy's transition into adulthood with evidence of immense pressure from his father, immaturity, and the eventual need to lead a normal life.
In The Piano Lesson by August Wilson, Berniece and Boy Willie are siblings who both want the piano that belongs to their family. Berniece wants to keep the piano because it holds their family history and it reminds her of the hard work her mother put into the piano. However, Boy Willie wants to sell the piano to buy land from Sutter’s brother because to him the land, like the piano, are both a part of his family’s history and both represent being free from Sutter. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart baptized as Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart lived from January 27, 1756 to December 5, 1791. Mozart was a very influential and prolific composer of more than 600 works, including symphonies, concertante, chamber, piano, opera, and choral music. Regarded as a child prodigy, Mozart composed and performed in the European courts from the age of five, and was engaged at the Salzburg court at 17. Mozart’s musical style can be classified as Classical, although he learned from many of his contemporaries throughout his musical career. In order to better understand Mozart’s genius it is best to begin looking at his earliest contributions to the musical world as a child. From there, an exploration of his composition work in the employ of various patrons gives a more rounded picture of the development of Mozart’s musical style. Mozart is one of the most enduring composers, with his work continuing to resonate with modern audiences.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is perhaps the most well-known composer of all time. Countless accounts of his life have been created through the years, and all of them approach the topic of his life with a slightly different perspective. Amadeus provides a humorous and insightful look into the life of Mozart through the flashbacks of an elderly Italian man named Salieri. In his old age, Salieri confesses to a priest that he felt God taunting him throughout life because he always had a profound appreciation for Mozart’s music, but yet could never produce anything like it. Therefore, he turned bitter and spent his life trying to ruin Mozart and his career. Through Salieri’s lense, the audience learns about Mozart’s unique personality. Mozart is shown in the movie as a musical prodigy with an impeccable ability to play and compose. However, Mozart also has a childish, socially awkward side that causes him to be misunderstood by many adults. He lacks practicality and appreciation for social graces, instead preferring to make inappropriate jokes and attend wild parties. Our class’s textbook, The Enjoyment of Music, also
Classical music can be best summed by Mr. Dan Romano who said, “Music is the hardest kind of art. It doesn't hang up on a wall and wait to be stared at and enjoyed by passersby. It's communication. Its hours and hours being put into a work of art that may only last, in reality, for a few moments...but if done well and truly appreciated, it lasts in our hearts forever. That's art, speaking with your heart to the hearts of others.” Starting at a young age Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven have done just that with their musical compositions. Both musical composers changed the world of music and captivated the hearts of many. Their love of composing shared many similar traits, though their musical styles were much different.
Throughout this semester of college, I have observed three separate Elementary General Music teachers. Each of the teachers had their own personalities that each reflected upon their teaching. They all came from different areas of study, but all still manage to be successful, each with their own pros and cons.

He was a great young composer that transformed into a genius that was able to write music in the short periods of time he had during the day and was able to rewrite the musical rules. After being very successful in his early years, Mozart grew little older and started looking at things in a bigger picture. He tried to fit in on many different things including languages of others. The “Magic Flute” that was written at the end of his short life is known as the ultimate expression of Mozart’s ambition to connect with the human life and the human emotion through music as well as theater. At 25 years old, Mozart is no longer a prodigy but has not proved to be an amateur composer. In Provincial Salzburg is where Mozart is still living with his father and sister. Mozart is going to Munich because they have commissioned him to write an Italian opera in a serious style. Mozart’s father said he gave Wolfgang the advice to never neglect the popular style for the unmusical public as the musical ones. Leopold agreed to be Mozart’s middle man between the poets but he didn’t know that this would be his last detailed involvement in one of Mozart’s projects. Mozart’s father said they worked every day on the poems but Mozart was determined about something totally different than his father. He had problems with everything his father done. A demographic shift beginning in the middle of the 20th century has lead to rising incomes, more women in the work force, and a decreasing birth rate. This transition has occurred in many parts of the world. A particularly good example is that of China with their one child policy. Unlike before, the parents of the 20th Century were incentivized and recognized the value of investing more in their children. Furthermore, they now had the means to do so. This growing interest in child development has been a boon for research and an opportunity for marketers. Unfortunately, research is often repackaged or misrepresented by both the media and marketers. As a result, wide spread misconceptions can develop among the general public. Marketers will often use cherry picked research to either promote or form a pretense for a product value proposition. The actual efficacy of many of these products has been called into question. In recent years, research regarding the Mozart effect has been largely misrepresented or overestimated.
The Classical Period brought forward new musical innovation. The sudden change in emotion and contrast in the music from the classical era is one of the many fascinating topics. However, the topic most talked about to this very day is Mozart’s Requiem. The mystery of which parts were composed by Mozart puzzles many. Even the rumor that surrounds Mozart’s cause of death is fascinating. Peter Shaffer’s play Amadeus, added more controversy to this intriguing mystery.
