The play contains people who are both honorable and corrupt. Some people might ask what an honorable and corrupt person is? Honorable means worthy of being honored; entitled to honor and respect. The word corrupt means dishonest or immoral or evasive. Both of these qualities are found in characters that are in the play written by Shakespeare. In this essay I am going to explain who I think the most honorable and corrupt person in the play is.
I think the most honorable person in the play is Mark Antony. I believe Antony is the most honorable character because after he had seen what the conspirators did to Caesar he still went down the line and shook the conspirators bloody hands. Although shaking their bloody hands it made him look guilty
of something he didn’t even do. Antony has also stated in Act 3 line 220 “Friends am I with you all, and love you all, Upon this hope, that you shall give me reasons Why and wherein, Caesar was dangerous”. Therefore with that being said he was able to forgive and forget with the conspirators as long as they were able to tell him why they had killed Caesar. Antony also spoke whatever was on his mind although he never did want to disprove someone wrong. As he stated in Act 3 lines 101-102 “I speak not to disprove what Brutus spoke, But here I am to speak what I do know”. With this being said he doesn’t want to do wrong to anyone nor himself. He would rather choose doing wrong to the dead because once they're dead you can’t do anything about it. Nor can the dead people take back what they have done or said in the past. Antony was also a very good friend, especially to Caesar. Antony has stated in Act 3 line 141 “ Have patience, gentle friends, I must not read it”. When he said he must not read it he was referring to the letter that Caesar had received warning him that he shouldn’t go to the Capitol but never did read. Antony didn’t want to read it because he feared he will wrong the honourable man. I think the most corrupt person in the play is Cassius. Cassius used Caesars corruption to justify his own. Cassius try’s to convince Brutus that he is just like Caesar and he should have the same amount of power as him. He is very jealous of Caesar because he has the chance to be crowned king while Cassius doesn’t, he’s trying every way possible to get rid of Caesar. Mark Antony was a very honorable person therefore that would make him my favorite character in this play. Antony is a person who is very respectful to their friends, and would help anyone with anything they need. Antony was also a very honorable man who had lot’s of friends who looked up to him, and wanted to be like him. He also stands up for what he believes in and wouldn’t go against any rule breaking. In this essay I have explained why I think Mark Antony is the most honorable. Along with Cassius being the most corrupt person in the play. Both of these characters have showed signs of being honorable, but Antony was more honorable than the rest. Antony made a way of doing the right things to where Cassius wasn’t the brightest of the bunch and made some bad decisions.
Who would have been the best suited leader of Rome in sixth century B.C.? Many believe it could have been Marcus Antonius, Marcus Brutus, or the great Julius Caesar. Marcus Brutus is known to be the most honorable man in Rome at the time and was well respected. Caesar is the ruler and has a successful military. He also seeks wealth and power. Antony is Caesar’s right hand man and good friend. He later acquires the position that Caesar had and also seeks wealth and power. All three men are after the job, but Brutus is obviously the one who was most suited for it and also the only one who never got the chance.
Brutus, Honorable Man Brutus, an honorable conspirator? Honorable is defined as genuine, truthful and displaying integrity, while a conspirator is defined as one that engages in an agreement to commit an illegal or wrongful act. Anyone can clearly see that these two words do not belong together. There are also other reasons why Brutus should not be considered honorable. In the play, three distinct acts can be recalled.
Julius Caesar (July 100 BC – 15 March 44 BC) was a Roman general, statesman, Consul, and author of Latin prose. He played a critical role in the events that led to the demise of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire. On March 15 44 B.C.E, the Roman dictator Julius Caesar was murdered. There are multiple accounts of this incident, while all accounts came after the death of Caesar, the writing on the incident portray Julius Caesar to have been a selfish dictator.
Technology has advanced a lot and has been greatly impacting our lives since the Industrial Revolution. The appearance of the mobile phone, the computer, and the tablets have all changed our ability to communicate with people around the world. Although technologies have greatly improved our lifestyle, they have brought many negative effects on our relationships and happiness as well, for instance distorting people's views on one another and bringing more loneliness to people's lives. Many people believe that benefited by social media platforms such as Facebook, it is now not necessary to talk to someone in person in order to effectively communicate with one and know one’s life. Others, however, believe that technology alone cannot replace
Julius Caesar is the most well known Roman ruler of all time. His military and political careers were both successful. This helped Caesar gain complete trust of the Roman people even though he killed the previous leader of Rome, Pompey. He was well liked by most everyone in Rome except for those who disapproved of him being named dictator of Rome. An assassination plot was devised to put an end to his rule. His death ultimately led to the end of the Roman Republic and the start of the Roman Empire. Julius Caesar’s legacy will be remembered by his brilliant military victories, his rise to political fame, and his role in the First Triumvirate.
In Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar, Brutus and Cassius are both considered honorable men by the public. But, like all traits, honor is in the eye of the beholder. Honor is defined as evidence or symbols of distinction. Those who are placed in power are often chosen because of their traits, which include being honorable. If those in power have any faults, it could diminish their position in the eyes of the public.
Many of the problems that Julius Caesar faced during his rule are still problems that the world still faces today. In William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar the problems are clearly evident. The main problem is the inherit distrust in people of government that is caused by unstable governments.
In Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar", Caesar is displayed as a powerful and dynamic figure in Rome because of his many accomplishments in previous wars as well as battles. When Caesar returns to Rome from a recent victorious defeat in battle, he receives a warm welcome by all the citizens of Rome. They consider and see Caesar as a hero and a strong individual, which is why they attempt to crown him King three times. A group of generals in Caesar's army are jealous and concerned with the amount of power Caesar has; they make arrangements to kill him. "Power is said to be a man's greatest desire he'll do whatever it takes to achieve his goal, even to kill." In comparison to Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" and the film Julius Caesar, we see many similarities. Furthermore, I will discuss these similarities in great depth.
An honorable person can be defined as someone who rarely commits a sin and someone who is right and just throughout their whole entire life. There is a dispute going on about whether Marcus Brutus is an honorable man or not an honorable man. Most of the people that form the conspirators kill Caesar because of jealousy. However, Brutus kills him because of what is the best for Rome. Marcus Brutus is the hero in the play Julius Caesar because he is loyal to Rome, he is respectful to his people, and humble to those who are less fortunate than him.
As far back as the Old Testament, the topic of reputation has been, and continues to be, weaved into story lines. The protagonist in a story is quickly identified through the author’s characterization as being a “good guy” or a “bad guy.” The technique used by the writer can be either direct, using the narrator, another character, or the main character themselves, or it can be deduced by the audience through observing the characters actions, manner of speech, interaction with others, and appearance. Once established, the storyline observes the ability of the protagonist to maintain, destroy, or enhance their reputation. The great play writer William Shakespeare demonstrates the difficulties the characters in his plays experience in maintaining a good reputation, greatly due to the outside influences of others. An examination of the impact influence, through the wording of William Shakespeare and from a historical perspective, can have on ones repute, as shown through Shakespearean character Mark Antony from Antony and Cleopatra, will illustrate that a good reputation, while difficult to obtain, is even harder to maintain when left on its own accord.
Throughout the play, Brutus speaks about honor and his loyalty to his country. These two concepts become major conflicts for him when it comes to his friendship and loyalty to Caesar. Brutus life is conducted by the concept of honor. He constantly throughout the play speaks of how honorable he is and how honorable men should live. He 's very proud of how Romans view him as a noble and honorable man, who fights for what is right and is always following the moral and ethical code. Brutus ends up using the concept of honor and loyalty to his country as a reason why Caesar must die. He 's convinced that his countrymen will thank him for saving them from a tyrant and that Rome would be much better off without Caesar, but it ends up being a big miscalculation
and Caesar, ^I saw Mark Antony offer him a crown (yet ^twas not a crown
From the absolute power of ancient kings and medieval monarchs to the tyrannical dictators of today, political corruption has been a persistent aspect of governed societies since their emergence early in human existence. In the quest for power, individuals create furtive conspiracies to overthrow governments and destroy policies. The presence of political corruption and conspiracy in Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar is prominent, as Brutus and Mark Antony conduct opposing conspiracies in relation to corruption in the Roman government. Shakespeare depicts Antony’s emotional drive, ability to set aside honor, and capacity to use manipulative language as additive to the strength of his conspiracy. These qualities allow his conspiracy to undermine Brutus and, in doing so, emphasize Brutus’ flaws of uncertainty, excessive accentuation of honor, and naïveté.
Julius Caesar as the Noblest Roman of Them All In William Shakespeare's " Julius Caesar" the victorious Mark Antony calls his rival Brutus, "the noblest Roman of them all". At the start of the play we witnessed Cassius persuade Brutus to join a conspiracy to kill Caesar. In my essay I intend to discuss four main characters in order to prove or disapprove Mark Antony's statement. The play starts off with Julius Caesar entering Rome after his victory in the civil war against Pompey.
Shakespeare introduces to us a character who is evil according to the moral judgement of the moment. He does not respect the social values and norms. For him social taboos such as incest and crimes such as murder cease to be wrong once they become instruments of power. He is Satan incarnated, cunning, greedy and destructive. He has no respect for those who observe social, norms, family ethics and political loyalty.
