Throughout your life you will run into some miscommunication with someone, whether its a family member, a friend, or even a random person. At times people would say something to someone, and they would either take it literally or just misunderstand it. Both people would start arguing which would lead to a huge disagreement. In Amy Tan's novel, The Joy Luck Club, miscommunication plays a huge role. Mother, Lindo, and her daughter, Waverly, misunderstand each other and a hatred feel for each other begins. In the end both, Lindo and Waverly, talk about Lindo's origins. From the two solving their problems, Amy tan shows that you should take the time to get to know one another. Lindo, waverly's mother, grew up as a food and "perfect" child. She thought her daughter would be the same, but sadly for her she isn't. Because she believes she's her own person. Waverly feels as if her mother is being unreasonable for being against the marriage with rich shields. Lindo doesn't understand why her daughter is treating her like an enemy. Since they don't rake the time to listen to one another, a constant feud goes on among them. Waverly walked into Lindo's house to see her lying on the couch looking weak, almost deathlike. Waverly yells to get up to find out that her mother was just napping. The venerable look her mother had made her look nothing like the devil, like she had imagined.
