Many people around the world are wondering if drones are helpful or not helpful things. Some debate it takes away the privacy of people, some also say that innocent people can be brutally injured by these thing. But, they really have no idea how helpful these drones can be. From helping in the military to rescuing hikers in the ice, these drones can really come in use, if used the right way. As I mentioned before, drones can really come in handy for many, many things. First and foremost, drones that are used by the military have been a major source of help. Drone strikes in Pakistan, Yemen, Afghanistan, and Somalia have killed at least 3,500 militants of the terrorist groups in these places. Even the military and Air Force are willing to pay …show more content…
But what they do not know is that these drones kill less people than any other weapons used by the military. As identified, only 12% of people were killed in the Pakistan drone strikes overall. It is also estimated that 70% were in Korea, 31% in Vietnam, and 45% in the Balkan Wars. What the drone does, is actually limits to the intended target and/ or combatant, rather than targeting many people at once. The United States military cannot also risk falling behind in these technologies. Almost more than 87 countries own a type of surveillance or drone. Iran unveiled the first armed drone in 2010. China also unveiled 25 drone models. So really we cannot risk being behind technology, when these drones and other important technologies are being used all over the world. Not only do these drones help in the military, but they also are used in the medical field for many reasons. Yes, there is such a thing called “ambulance drone” which flies over to the victim of any injury or disease, such as heart attack. This “ambulance drone” does the same things as an ambulance, and has all the right equipments too. The ambulance drone delivers drugs which are needed, pills etc. They also arrive much faster than a regular ambulance which is convenient because the faster the help arrives, the
Commercial drones are also used for surveillance purposes. Surveillance applications include livestock monitoring, wildfire mapping, pipeline security, home security, road patrol, and anti-piracy. They are also used in commercial and motion picture film making. So basically we can use this technology to make the service faster. The current usage of commercial drones is pretty basic and only involved in the usage of delivery drones.
One of the benefits of the Drone is preserving U.S. life. Drones can now replace surveillance missions inside enemy territory without risking the pilots capture and death. Drones are able to slip across borders without risking lives of pilots. They can linger in foreign countries and scout potential threats for a long period of time. They can then decide when to strike the target with minimal civilian casualties. (E-IR) Drones are also able to strike a target with better targeting strategies due to the pilot being removed from the cockpit. (E-IR) Besides the capability for a drone to just hunt down a ...
It can be asserted that with current technology and supervision drones lack the stability required to be successful and safe and in actuality are counter-effective because these drones create an unsupervised means of power that could quickly spiral out of control. The drone program fails to decrease the death count of war, increase the intelligence needed to dismantle terrorist cells and be secure against hackers. As a result, drones are counterproductive, and in truth create a newfound terrorism. At the end of the day, the only means to eradicate the enemy is to make them a friend.
Drones are cheaper and more effective than putting boots on the ground. According to Brooking.edu, “Over 50 senior leaders of al Qaeda and the Taliban who are not easily replaced.” have been killed by drone strikes. Another 3,250 al Qaeda, Taliban, and Jihadist operatives have also been killed in drone strikes. They are also worthy to be used for the reason that they are cheaper than manned aircraft attacks and U.S. military attacks. U.S. manned aircraft attacks cost $16,900 per hour to operate, while drones cost about $3,679 per hour to operate.
With technology advancing rapidly society is finding other ways to make some situations much easier. A method is the use of drones, they are becoming more popular among consumers but also with law enforcement, by including them to the work force, Drones have many beneficial uses by assisting law enforcement to fight crimes and processing accident photographs scenes as well as in search and rescue missions.
Three-thousand deaths have resulted in drone attacks and only 1.5 percent of these deaths were “high profile” personnel. Out of these deaths about 20 percent were either civilian or children. This statistic only account for the known drone attacks (Galliott, Jai, and Bradley Strawser). When drones were first invented its intensions were mainly for surveillance. Over the years they have been modified and upgraded to perform tasks that can even match manned aerial vehicles which leads to the first argument for drones. With the use of drones it limits the amount of soldiers in dangerous situations. Drones are controlled by a pilot that sits in a safe command room with a high resolution feed of the area around the drone. The pilots that control the drones use a joystick to control the drone’s main abilities. Many investigations have been placed on drone operators and the environment surrounding them and the investigators state that the control over the drones simulate a video game. Since the operation of drone simulates a video game it is said that it takes away our emotional connection of the horrific side of warfare. If emotions were to be taken out of warfare taking a life of another person would be inhumane and unethical.
This, an example of one of the many uses of drones today, serves to show how much of an impact drones can have. A drone, or UAV, is a pilotless craft that is controlled by a remote (“Drone” 2015). As technology advances, the use of drones becomes progressively more prominent. Drones, an extremely useful tool, have a multitude of uses. These are: keeping track of forest fires, looking for missing persons, surveying drug infested countries to fight the drug war, and using them in hostage situations and high speed chases to track the perpetrator (“Drones” 2012).
They are use to collect data on enemies and also strikes them if chose to. The Federal government uses drones to patrol the borders of Mexico and Canada. NASA use them to track storms. Drones could be use to help a missing person or alert officers about accidents and crimes and provide video of what happened. They could also be used to fight fires. The domestic use of drones could compromise our right to privacy. I think weapons on domestic drones must be prohibited. There shouldn 't be any logical reason why a weapon must be attached on a drone. It is probably alright to have an armed drones at war but not on a civilian population especially on our own backyard. Law enforcers must have a probable cause before collecting data using drones on a suspect. The government should find a way to set a standard regulations on this drones matter. Drones could be helpful servants of humanity but their use should be regulated. Just like any advanced technology, if its purpose is abused or fall into the worng hands, there would be dire
The use of drones as weapons of war and delivery and surveillance systems should not be dismissed because many people do not realize the real capabilities of drones and how they can be used to better the world through efficient air strikes, faster delivery times, and useful surveillance. Some of the most common misconceptions about drones arise due to the lack of knowledge about what drones are. A drone is a remote controlled, pilotless aircraft that can be used to survey an area, conduct stealth missions, and deliver supplies into difficult to reach areas (Drone). Unmanned aircraft are also, contrary to popular belief, not solely machines that kill without even a thought to who is being fired upon. They have proved to be effective surveillance units in areas that may be dangerous for manned aircraft to fly, along with the potential to be reliable delivery units (Drones).
Another name for drones are Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVS). These are “aircraft either controlled by ‘pilots’ from the ground or increasingly, autonomously following a pre-programmed mission” (Cole 4). Even though there are many unique types of drones, but they usually fall under two main categories: ones that are armed and equipped with missiles and bombs and others that are used for surveillance. In the past couple of years the use of drones has increased dramatically. The reason being because “unlike manned aircraft they can stay aloft for many hours and are flown remotely so there is no danger to the flight crew” (Cole 13). There are drones that can actually fly over more than fifty hours. In countries such as Afghanistan and Iraq, the Predator and U.S Reaper are physically there. Cause of the power of technology th...
Every day the world is evolving, different types of technology are being made for different kinds of uses. Some people in the army want to use drones to carry out different types of missions, in other places in the world. Using will help soldiers carry out missions, quicker, easier, and much more efficient. 60% of Americans agree on the usage of drones for army purposes. Many people say that the army should not use drones because drones will increase the number of terrorists, drones can kill and injure innocent civilians, and that drones will “...allow the United States to become emotionally disconnected from the horrors of war” (ℙ8, Drones). There are many advantages with having drones aid military bases, because
Drones are also called unmanned aerial vehicles. They come in various sizes for many uses. Drones are known by different names such as “Killer Drone” or “Spy” or “Surveillance Drone” as they are mostly used to decimate enemy and harm civilians, which is why drones receive negative feedback from the public. Not all people use drones in warfare, they also use them as a hobby to film and entertain. Despite the fact that drones have negative sides, they also have positive sides as well.
This buzzing killer is the destroyer of mentalities of the human race. The drone is known as the newly improved warfare machine. Whereas, the United States of America has begun using the aircraft in the Middle East with goals of fixing the terrorism issue. By defining the importance of humane warfare instead of solely machine warfare since drones are horrendous tactics for the military, by refuting those who claim drones make warfare a safer location, by presenting case studies, statistics, visual depictions, and sound arguments, one will be persuaded that drones are inefficient resources until further proven extremely precise without technical difficulties.
Drones are an emerging technology that has countless benefits and a myriad of intangible side-effects. I will clearly explain how drones effect on our lives by exploring the Social, Cultural, Political and Environmental impacts drone technology presents in our lives today.
Drone warfare is here to stay and is technology continues to evolve, drones will take the place of deliveries from the United States Postal Services and FedEx deliveries; they will be used as security guards, radio stations, first aid kits, and more. Drones will continue to be used to fight terrorism overseas, furthermore, saving the lives of innocent civilians, and our service men and woman. I believe drones are our future and will continue to see drones of many sizes used for other purposes, such as to deliver medicine or an organ quickly to hospital. The possibilities for drones are endless. They can do almost anything that you could need from one, and with the technologies changing and becoming more advanced every day. I think that these changes might happen sooner rather than later. So if it's not superman or a bird in the sky; it's probably a
