It was a nice, calm day when I heard the telephone ring. I was quickly alerted that there has been a murder at the Strach mansion. Mike Strach was stabbed in his sleep. Once I heard this I knew my first suspect. The Strachs are some of the most famous millionaires in city. Both Sarah and Mike Strach are well known lawyers, but Sarah Strach wants to marry a Count and Mike won’t let her file a divorce. When I get to the mansion, the The New York City police arrive to the Strach mansion around the same time as Maya and I. Apparently, Mr. Strach was murdered in bed with a hunting knife. They walk in and I hear someone scream “My Brother-in-law killed my husband. He loved me, but Mike got to me first. He has hated Mike since. This is his revenge.” I look over and …show more content…
see a lady who I assume to be Sarah Strach, Mike Strach’s husband. When I ask, my thoughts were confirmed. We go upstairs so that I can assess the scene of the crime. When we get the room, Maya, who is a doctor goes straight to the body. After examining the body, she declares that Mike died at around midnight from poison, not the hunting knife. I decide to question everyone. After I question all of the servants and Cole, Sarah is the last person I need to question. “What was the time you last saw your husband alive?” “11:20 when I brought him the water he demanded” she answered hastily. “Why? Are you accusing me? Why would I kill my husband?” “I never said anything.” I say. “Why did you immediately accuse Cole when you had no evidence?” “I have evidence. When I woke up, I saw Cole’s hunting knife in Mike’s back. Also, he and his brother, Mike were very close growing up until they met me. They both fell in love with me, but I only loved Mike. Cole started to hate Mike when Mike and I started dating. Eventually, when Mike and I got married, he stopped talking to Mike unless he really needed to. “What were you doing at the time of the crime?” “I was sitting in front of the TV next to Mike working on a case that is due tomorrow in court at around 11:15. When I couldn’t figure out what to do, I decided to go up to bed and work on it in the morning when my Mike declares he is going up to bed and wanted me to bring him a glass of water.I finished up what I needed to do and then got the water and brought it to Mike. The last thing I heard from Mike before I went to bed was “Thank you”. I remember looking at the clock right before I fell asleep and it read 11:31.” “Were you on good terms with your husband?” “Not really I wanted to go marry another, but Mike would not file the divorce. It was really aggravating.” “Ok, I have one more question for today. What is the name of the case you are working on? “The Howell case.” Thank you for your time.” I say as I get up and leave. I go downstairs and find the police waiting for me.
They are smarter than most police I’ve worked with, they know that I am world famous for solving crimes and are waiting for me to tell them my leads. I tell them that I suspect Sarah. She doesn't have a very good story. I’m going to have to find out more information before I can figure out the case. While I’m at my house trying to figure out this case, I need you to search Sarah’s room and let me know if you find anything about poison, the Howell case, or anything incriminating. Before I go home, I tell Maya that I need her to figure what was the poison that killed Mike and how it killed him. Instead of going to my house, I go to Sarah’s office and ask her boss to take a look at the Howell case for Police business. Once I show him my detective badge, he leads me into a private room to read. I found out that Mr. Howell killed his wife by putting the poison arsenic in her drink. She died 30 minutes to an hour later. Right as I figure this out, I get two texts, one from Maya and one from the police telling me that they each found something. Maya figured out that the poison used was arsenic. The police found a box of articles about poisons, especially
arsenic. The next morning I sit down in a room filled with all of the servants, Cole, and Sarah. “ I will walk you through the steps in which I used to solve this case. When I first saw the body, something struck me particularly interesting. Cole’s hunting knife was in the body, but Mike was not actually killed by the knife. I was wondering why that was and then I remembered that the person who accused Cole was Sarah. Just because of the hunting knife. Also, Sarah is the Lawyer working on the Howell case and Mr. Howell poisoned his wife with arsenic in her drink. After the tests were completed, Maya figured out that Mike was killed by arsenic and the last thing he ate… or drank was the water that Sarah gave him.” “Are you accusing me?” Sarah wails. “Yes, you had the motive, and all of the evidence points to you. Also, I found a box of articles about many poisons, especially arsenic. Did you commit the murder?” “Yes. Fine I wanted to marry another person and Mike would not let me file a divorce.” Once the police hear this, they handcuff her immediately and she is sentenced to jail with no parole for murder.
Upon my arrival, I heard several people yelling at each other from outside of the door. As I entered the house, I notice a man standing next to the couch with blood on his hands and running down the side of the left temple. The man was then identified as Brandon Clodfelter. At this time I detained Brandon and as I moved to the first bedroom on the right in the hallway, I notice blood on the outside of the door. As I enter the bedroom, I see an older woman sitting on the ground with blood running down her forearm. The woman was then identified as Nicole Clodfelter, the mother of Brandon Clodfelter. Also, standing in the living room was Michael Clodfelter, the father of Brandon. At this point I called for Acadian.
Newspaper headline: ‘KEITH MILLHOUSE MURDERED IN MANSION.” is across every paper in Rosewood County. Keith Millhouse is.. Or I guess was the richest man in Rosewood. The man had a heart of gold, only wanting to help others in need. Somehow, on a cold October day, though, Keith Millhouse was found strangled, and beaten in his mansion.
Because police investigators are usually under pressure to arrest criminals and safeguard the community, they often make mistakes. Sometimes, detectives become convinced of a suspect 's guilt because of their criminal history or weak speculations. Once they are convinced, they are less likely to consider alternative possibilities. They overlook some important exculpatory evidence, make weak speculations and look only for links that connect a suspect to a crime, especially if the suspect has a previous criminal record. Picking Cotton provides an understanding of some common errors of the police investigation process. During Ronald Cottons interrogation, the detectives did not bother to record the conversation “But I noticed he wasn 't recording the conversation, so I felt that he could be writing anything down”(79) unlike they did for Jennifer. They had already labelled Ronald Cotton as the perpetrator and they told him during the interrogation “Cotton, Jennifer Thompson already identified you. We know it was you”(82). Jenifer Thompson 's testimony along with Ronald Cotton 's past criminal records gave the detectives more reason to believe Ronald committed the crime. Ronald Cotton stated “ This cop Sully, though, he had already decided I was guilty.”(84). Many investigative process have shortcomings and are breached because the officials in charge make
The case begins with a report of a house fire in a Virginia suburb. When firefighters arrived and extinguished the flames, they made a horrible discovery. All four members of the house were dead. 41-year-old Blaine Hodges, 37-year old Teresa Hodges his wife, and their two young daughters, 11-year-old Winter and Anah who was just 3 years old. Investigators arrived and interpreted the burn pattern. They also discovered the presence of an accelerant. They determined that the cause of the family’s death was not an accidental house fire. This immediately shifted the focus from an accident to something more sinister.
.... Maloney would leave to be with the other women. This thought though, became a reality for Mary Maloney. Mary Maloney has testified to happening to “stumble across” a will, which mentioned Mary Maloney receiving three quarters of Patrick’s fortune if he were to pass away. Being the wife a detective, Mary Maloney new how to plot a scene. First she would murder Patrick, receive his fortune to care for the unborn child, never have to face him again after he said to her face that he loved another women and had been having affairs with her. Secondly, she would need to dispose of the murder weapon secretly, and create an alibi that would testify for Ms. Maloney. Thirdly, pretend that it was all a dream and that it never happened. Sadly, it was an incredibly easy task for a clever woman such as herself. How is it that money is what shapes our world but also destroys it?
It was a 92 degree fahrenheit morning at 9:45 on August 14th, when Doug Greene placed a call to 911. He informed the police that he was concerned because Anna had been seen wearing a sweater the previous day despite the unusual heat and wasn’t answering her calls or her door. Both the police and the EMT arrived at the crime scene at 9:56 am where they found Anna Garcia lying on the floor. They entered the crime scene and declared Anna dead. The crime scene was then secured at 10:20 am for investigation. The crime scene was confined to a 10’ by 20’ entry hallway. At the crime scene, investigators marked areas where vomit, blood stains, blood spatter, footprints, a strand of hair, scattered pills, a syringe, and dirty cup were lying on the floor. As the car was being searched, we learned the reason for such drastic precautionary measures. A man whom we knew and who was a candidate for the sheriff's office, had been brutally murdered in the presence of his wife and daughter. It was rumored that the opposing party was responsible for the fatal shotgun blast, and other rumors stated that explosives would be brought into town to bomb the courthouse.
Later, the police found Mark?s fingerprints around and inside the car, where he had been talking to the lawyer, and even on the gun. FBI agents and local police all suspected that Mark knew more than he was telling them. Mark hired a lawyer, Reggie Love, to help him get out of the mess he put himself in. A couple newspapers got word of the fingerprints of the boy and they quickly made up stories that Mark was now suspected to be the killer of the lawyer. Mark realized that the best thing to do would be to let the police know where the body was and tell them the truth about everything he knew. The next day, he and Reggie had an appointment with some FBI agents. On the way to his lawyer?s office, Mark ran into a man obviously in the Mafia. He threatened to kill him if he told anyone about what Jerome Clifford had told him. He knew the man wasn?t joking because he was holding a switchblade to his face at the time. By this time, Mark no longer wants to talk to the authorities. Through all this, Mark?s mother was still living at the hospital, worrying about her youngest son, who was still in shock and comatose.
A long day, as Sunday always seemed, was coming to an end. BA and Liz were preparing for bed, when a call came. A glance at his watch, which read 10:30 brought disgust. "Who could it be at this hour? Couldn’t I pretend we aren't home and let the answering machine pick up?"
