Microburst and wind shear avoidance
As we all know, safety is fundamental to the aviation industry. There are many factors will cause dangerous to flights, such as human factors, problem of aircraft structures and so on. Flight safety has many challenges. Due to the climate variability and suddenness, meteorology has become a severe problem in aviation. Many air crashes are in the result of bad weather. In generally speaking, there are several weather phenomenon have much influence on flights, like turbulence, including clear air turbulence, thunderstorms, icing, volcanic ash. People have spent a lot of energy in predicting and avoiding these weather problems. According to the NASA Langley Research Center, in the 1970s and 1980s, multiple aviation accidents were attributed to wind shear phenomenon. So it is important for us to know its causes and features so that we can predict it more accurate to ensure the aviation safety. This essay will firstly introduce the definitions of microburst and wind shear, and the relations between them. Following this, it will explain these weather phenomenon’s effects on flight and discuss some air crash cases. Finally it will look at the approaches to avoiding microburst and wind shear from different aspects in order to keep the flights’ safety. As we all know ,a good pilot is not the pilot who survive in a bad situation ,if a pilot take chance to do something with bad weather ,the pilot is not profession .I think a good pilot is the person that he can make a good decision to decide to fly or cancel the flight .Most of the experience captions will not take any risk to doing missions with the bad weather ,such as the microburst or the wind shear ,it is stupid ,so we should know the weather conditio...

Apart from that, the basic knowledge of the weather information is very important ,some aircraft crashed because of the bad weather condition , when they face the bad weather , they make a bad decision ,it is very dangerous ,sometimes , it can cause the airplane crash .A professional pilot should always check the weather , as I said before ,if the pilot can handle the bad weather survive last , it is not mean he is a knowledgeable pilot ,maybe he has more experience , he is familiar with the situation . The good pilot determine to fly or not to, he can see the weather situation which will happen few hours later .Both the microburst and the wind shear are severe weather ,all of the pilots should be prepared for it .Just for safe .

The more time that people have to do this the more that people will do this. Throughout the entire hurricane season meteorologists keep a close watch on the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. They examine pictures of the area taken by satellites, and also take information on air pressure, wind speed, and temperatures.
The swiftness, beauty, and absolute daunting sight of tornadoes have haunted minds and pulled at the curiosity of many. As Mother Nature’s fiercest windstorms, tornadoes do not simply lift you up and transport you to the magical Land of Oz. Rather, they habitually throw you around like a rag doll leaving a disaster behind them. Interestingly enough, tornadoes are yet to be fully understood. We know what a tornado is and how it forms but why it forms under various circumstances and not others is still under scrutiny.
As a conclusion, I hope these previous paragraphs have given you the knowledge that everyone dealing with physics or airplanes should possess. These factors may not show all that physics has to contribute in the flight of an aircraft but they do show the major contributions. After reading these paragraphs, you should now have greater respect for physics, not just in airplanes, but in the world, because it is all around you and nothing can exist or work without it.
The first type of thunderstorm is a single cell storm which is nothing more than an updraft and a downdraft working together to create weather. Single-cell thunderstorms usually pop up out of the blue and only last for a short period of time. Because of the short life span associated with this type of storm they are sometime referred to as a “pulse storm” (1998, Texas weather network). Single cell storms are usually not well formed and happen at random times, which makes them hard to forecast when and where severe weather will occur (n.d., Singlecell Thunderstorms). While a single cell storm only lasts for a short period of time, they are still capable of producing severe weather. Due to the unpredictability of these types of storms the microburst threat to aviation is very serious (n.d., Singlecell Thunderstorms).
In conclusion, many contribution factors led to the Crossair flight 3597 crash but is mainly triggered by Crossair’s incapability of assessment, pilot error and lastly the air traffic controller. Analysis of a flight crash is important so that we will know the causes, thus being able tackle it, making sure that there are no other flight crashes like Crossair flight 3597.
For the purpose of this paper, we will discuss a weather event that few think of regarding natural disasters; winter storms. Winter storms are different from a snowy day in that a winter storm can include heavy snow, damage-causing ice, high winds, dangerously low temperatures, low visibility, or any combination thereof (America’s PrepareAthon, 2015) and makes travel extremely hazardous. A winter storm can affect an entire region and victims may experience loss of utility services, limited mobility, among various personal crises (illnesses, accidents, or death). For example, between November 17 and November 20, 2014 Buffalo, New York was buried under 7 feet of snow causing thirteen fatalities, hundreds of roof collapses/structural failures, thousands of stranded motorists, downed trees, and power outages in addition to food and gas shortages (National Weather Service, n.d.). In the most severe winter storms, snow plows, and emergency services personnel often have a difficult time keeping up with the needs of the region; therefore, it may be hours, days or even weeks until conditions are safe and services are
The trials and tribulations of flight have had their ups and downs over the course of history. From the many who failed to the few that conquered; the thought of flight has always astonished us all. The Wright brothers were the first to sustain flight and therefore are credited with the invention of the airplane. John Allen who wrote Aerodynamics: The Science of Air in Motion says, “The Wright Brothers were the supreme example of their time of men gifted with practical skill, theoretical knowledge and insight” (6). As we all know, the airplane has had thousands of designs since then, but for the most part the physics of flight has remained the same. As you can see, the failures that occurred while trying to fly only prove that flight is truly remarkable.

A microburst sucks air down from a higher altitude down to a lower one. When this happens, airplane are susceptible to nosediving into the water below. Hurricanes in the Bermuda Triangle can have more energy than ten atomic bombs. The storms can be one hundred miles across and have wind speeds from 75 to 200 hundred mph with waves that can reach over 100 feet high. The waves generally have a gap of 10 seconds and travel about 100 feet.
A tornado is defined as a violently rotating column extending from a thunderstorm to the ground. The most violent tornadoes are capable of tremendous destruction with wind speeds of two hundred and fifty miles per hour or more. Damage paths can be more than one mile wide and fifty miles long. In an average year, eight hundred tornadoes are reported nationwide, resulting in eighty deaths and over one thousand five hundred injuries.
