Michelle Obama Inspires
Time and again people let the absence of parental college education set them back from striving to surpass those obstacles, yet former First Lady Michelle Obama used that as a platform to obtain high scale academic and career achievements. Mrs. Obama is considered to be an African-American minority and first generation college student who inspires individuals to break the norm barriers society tends to create. Though those statements can be proven true, Michelle Obama did not let those challenges change her mind set to break through them.

During her work at the Chicago law firm, she met and became the mentor of Barack Obama. Initially, Michelle dismissed any indication of Barack’s romantic feelings toward her until she realized his affection for her was pure. The happy couple lasted two years dating before getting engaged and later married on October 3, 1992 at Trinity United Church of Christ. Michelle went on to be the Chicago City administration to benefit Barack’s future political stance. Shortly after, Michelle began the first community service program for the University of Chicago where she worked as associate dean of student services for public services. While Barack Obama was running for presidency, Michelle refrained from her continuous work to support Barack Obama’s candidacy. A victorious presidential election for Barack made Michelle the first African-American First Lady of our country which therefore encouraged her to begin projects to make a an inspirational difference. Michelle had a goal in mind and had not time to waste, so immediately she began her Let’s Move! Campaign to reduce child obesity, formed the Reach Higher program to encourage children and young adults to seek college education, and co-founded the Joining Forces program that focused on fixing some problems most military families struggle with. Her life has now drastically changed from living in the White House for eight years to living in a mansion back home in Chicago. For the most part, she and the rest of the Obama family has stayed under the radar trying not to release too much of their lives now. Although she enjoyed living in the White House and having not to worry about cleaning up or grocery shopping since it would be done for them, she as the rest of her family, miss the simplicity of shopping for their own groceries. Though she no longer holds the First Lady title, that has not stopped Michelle from continuing to inspire society to make a difference, become educated, and feel empowered because everyone’s life and voice
