As once said by Maggie Winterfeldt, “Michael Jackson was one of the most widely beloved entertainers and profoundly influential artists of all-time, and he left an indelible imprint on popular music and culture” (Bio). Jackson is an influential icon, both onstage and offstage. He was a true humanitarian and is widely known for the significant amount of charities that he contributed to (Eastel 13). He was known as the King of Pop because of the amount of talent that he had, and the impact that he had on music history. He had extraordinary talent and a unique style that he astonished fans with throughout his life. Jackson’s music career, life offstage, the accomplishments that he made throughout his life, and his humanitarianism have cemented him a place in unforgettable history. Michael Joseph Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana on August 29th, 1958. He was one of nine children (Biography). He was born to a large African American working class family. Katherine Jackson, his mother, was a homemaker and a devout Jehovah’s witness. In April 1994, Jackson married Lisa Marie Presley, and divorced her in August 1996. In November 1996, he married Debbie Rowe and they were divorced by October 1999. Michael has three children: Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., and Prince Michael Jackson II. (Biography). Michael’s children were kept secluded at the Neverland Ranch from the time that they were born. They were educated on the property by tutors. Becoming a father was one of the best things that had ever happened to him. He wanted to be the best that he could be for them.
