The night of May 16, 1983, almost 50 million people watched one of the most spectacular performance on television (Scott 1). Jackson won 40 Billboard music awards (Scott 1). His lyrics are powerful he also talks about social causes, human race, and relationships. He inspired millions of people with the music he wrote. Since I was a little girl I listened to his music couple of my favorite songs are “Bad”, “Dirty Diana”, Make that Change”, “You are not alone”, “Billie Jean” “Smooth Criminal”. These songs where inspiring to me growing up to this day I listen to him. My siblings and me loved his movie called “The Moonwalker,” It’s about his music career when he was five years old till he went solo as an artist at the age of thirteen. I would watch his movie repeatedly. My sisters and me would try to follow his dance moves but we were always unsuccessful it was a great memory growing up. I loved the part when he turns himself into a bunny as a little girl I thought that was awesome. I would think I had magic And, I remember telling my mom “I wanted to be like Michael Jackson because he has powers” my mother would just laugh. Michael Jackson is one of the most widely beloved entertainers and profoundly influential artists of all time; he leaves an indelible imprint on popular music and culture. Commonly referred to as the “King of Pop”, Michael Jackson continues to earn millions of dollars beyond the grave- earning over $700 million in the years since he passed away in 2009. As seen in his Kanye West’s book “Glow in the Dark” there are a plethora of photos of him displaying his odd sense of style. To the normal eye this can he can be easily sectioned off by society and labeled as black sheep of the music industry. The impact of his clothing has also reached out to the youth as another means of relatability. As discussed before his narcissistic behavior already makes Kanye West a character to be marginalized as misfit to the world. His clothing style contributes to this in a major way that some dont expect. Kanye had interest in many cultures and sought out to understand them. One culture that notably influenced him as a person is Asian culture. Considering that he lived in China for a year when he was ten years old there was no way he wouldn't be touched by this. This can be seen with his clothing style, adopting Japanese streetwear and incorporating it into his style. From this his clothing Brand “Yeezy Supply” was created. Him venturing off into the world of fashion has made the same impact his music has created. Once again the people who feel to be a misfit or black sheep can vent out and be like their role model Kanye West by dressing in his clothing. With Kanye West’s signature shoes being very popular within the youth he wants everyone to be able to own a pair. As stated in an interview on a radio interview 103.5 “The

The late Michael Joseph Jackson was a 20th-century African-American singer and songwriter who transformed the face of pop music and popular culture throughout his lifetime (Michael Joseph Jackson ). Debuted in the professional music world in 1968 at the age of 10 as a member of The Jackson 5, Jackson’s rise to fame had been largely influenced by his invaluable contributions to the music, dance and fashion industries (Michael Joseph Jackson). Michael Jackson’s one-of-a-kind songs have also earned him over 700 awards, including 13 Grammy Awards as well as the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award (Michael Jackson; Grammy). However, his music recognition goes beyond what his cupboard-full of awards could ever represent. In this paper, I propose that Michael Jackson’s songs have touched and changed many lives through his constant fight for racial fairness. In particular, I argue that Michael Jackson used his music career as an outlet to break down racial barriers in the American music industry, to express his disappointment towards racial discrimination, to demonstrate his support for racial equality, to advocate that the color of our skin does not differ us from one another, as well as to show and guide others that change has to begin within oneself before impacting the world .
