Mexico is a country with many serious UDHR ( Universal Declaration of Human Rights) law violations. UDHR laws are a set of guidelines that the United Nations (U.N) made that all countries should follow by, but these guidelines aren't enforced. Article 5- Freedom from torture and degrading treatment as well as innocent until proven guilty are guidelines broken often. As humans, we should have the right to personal security without having to worry about enforced disappearance. Another really big issue is discrimination against journalists, many journalists who write or try to write about Mexico are being threatened or their families are. The Mexican government has made little progress in fixing these issues. This is because no one is trying to stop the people committing these crimes and the government is helping to cause these problems with enforced disappearances and torture.
Mexico is a large country with a population of 122 million people. The capital of Mexico is Mexico City which has the largest population out of the any other state in Mexico. Mexico City has a population of 15 million people. Three of the most known old Mexican civilizations were the Mayas, the Olmecs,

and the Toltecs. These civilizations were based off of hunting and agriculture. The Aztecs took over the government and Spain ruled Mexico for 300 years. During September in 1810, the Mexicans revolted and gained their independence in 1821. From 1821 to 1877, Mexico had two emperors, several dictators, and many presidents. In 1836 Mexico lost Texas to the U.S. in the war. They also lost the area that is now California , Utah , New Mexico, most of Arizona, and Nevada. A human right that police should have evidence to back up their accusations is before they show up to kill or harm someone that might not be dangerous. This means a person that is accused of being a murderer or assumed to have committed a crime can be killed without a fair trial. In May of 2015 the Mexican government covered up killing 22 people who were drug cartel suspects. The National Human Rights Commission reported there were two cases of torture and four other deaths caused by excessive force, 15 others were shot dead. The commission’s said that the government did not produce any evidence against the victims and was reported that the police started their assaults hours before reporters showed up. This is just one of the many times this has happened. Often, police and soldiers abuse their power and take advantage of their positions. It was reported that at the end of 2015, 29,917 people “disappeared”. To avoid this problem from happening in the future, there should be more thorough investigations to Ensure the suspects are more clearly identified and are given their rights of a judicial system. The Mexican government violates personal security with enforced disappearances.
An enforced disappearance is when someone gets abducted or imprisoned by the government secretly. This is a problem that many journalist have to be cautious with. Many get threatened or killed if they write something about the government that makes Mexico look bad or exposes government secrets. In over 60 cases, Human Rights Watch found that government agents talked to crime groups about making people “disappear” and after they would have money transported to them for them and their families. In 2007 it was reported that more than 25,000 people “disappeared” with little to no evidence why. In recent years the Mexican government has not owned up to these “disappearances” so the U.N. is obligated to become
involved. Extreme and unnecessary torture happens all the time in some parts of Mexico. In just ten years since the ‘war on drugs’ started, torturing is becoming a common way to extract information from people. Police officers and soldiers beat up, rape, suffocate and electrocute men and women to get them to confess information they need. Thousands of innocent people are jailed for admitting that they were guilty even when they are innocent to prevent them from getting tortured. By the end of 2014, around 2,400 people came out as torture victims. The Mexican government spoke up and said that there is a bill being drafted which states that torturers will have legal action brought upon them. There are already laws on torture in Mexico but the government tends to brush reports of torture off. In upcoming years they say that they will start taking legal action. Over the years the Mexico has had many enforced disappearances, torture victims, and police officers that abuse their power in horrific ways. In past years Mexico has made little to no progress in resolving these issues. They have tried to tell the public they are fixing these issues but still no progress has been made. In 2015, they said they had a bill drafted to change laws on torture but nothing has made any progress in torture laws since then. In years to come they said they are going to draft new bills to make Mexico safer with no torture but the government still fails to address any other issues.
The capital city of New Mexico is Santa Fe. New Mexico has a nickname called “Land of Enchantment” that adorns license plates to promote New Mexico. New Mexico is the southeast corner of the four corners and it has a population of 2,000,000 and
Mexicans have faced problems ever since 1492, when the expansion of the Spanish took on full force. Ever since, they have continued to encounter many more, which involve discrimination and oppression. Their history concerning Spanish conquest and colonization, and their migration into the United States was very troublesome, and it has not improved that much either.
There are about 200,000 illegal immigrants in Mexico. Before May 2011, illegal immigration is considered a felony under the Mexican law and is punishable by up to two years in prison. However, on May 2011, President Felipe Calderón signed a new Migration Law which guarantees that foreigners and Mexican citizens will be treated equally under the law. Moreover, it decriminalizes undocumented immigration, reducing it to an administrative infraction.
Mexico is boarded by the United States of America, Belize and Guatemala. Mexico has a very diverse landscape of mountains, plateaus, deserts, tropical jungles, and even beautiful Palm beaches. Mexico is a country rich in tradition, history and culture. Unfortunately, Mexico has not been talked about for any of those descriptions I mentioned above lately. Mexico has become a country full of death and violence. The Mexican government has been fighting a war with drug traffickers since December 2006. At the same time, drug cartels have fought each other for control of territory. More than 60,000 people have been killed (CNN). Despite the “war” launched at these multi-billion dollar organized crime groups, Mexico has not been able to stop its slide as a failed state. Almost every day there seems to be either dead bodies lying on the ground, a school closed due to vandalism, disappeared people, or bullet-riddled houses and cars. Sadly, there is not much the citizens of Mexico can do to ask for justice and change to the mess they are living in right now. So who is to blame for all of this? The Mexican drug cartels have completely taken over Mexico. They have become powerful through corruption and violence. The cartels use their power to intimidate and even murder anyone who tries to get in their way. They do not have a problem with decapitating heads in order to make a statement. The drug cartels also use their money to gain power. Given the amount of money they have, the cartels have millions of dollars invested in keeping authorities off their business. They can be very effective in bribing government officials at all levels, from border patrol just patrolling the border to state and high ranking federal officials. Given the resources they have, they can reach out and kill government officials at all levels. Since government officials are faced with bribes and or certain death, even the most unbreakable are caut...
On August 16, 1984 an international conference regarding population was held in Mexico City. It was at this conference that the Reagan Administration implemented the “Mexico City Policy”, also known and the Global Gag Rule. This policy stated that Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) would be prohibited from receiving United States funds if they performed, promoted, referred or counseled patients on abortion. The funds would be withheld from the NGOs even if the money used for abortion services were non-U.S. funds. This policy was in effect from 1984-1993 when president Bill Clinton came into office. On January 22, 2001 president George Bush reinstated the Mexico City Policy. There has been much debate over whether the policy is helping or hurting those abroad. Many people in the United States are not aware that the Mexico City Policy is in effect, or even what it is. It is very important that people here are aware of how the government is controlling health care and women’s rights in other countries.
Mexico City was built above the Aztec City. Which was built above a lake, an actual lake, and after the many years it’s slowly starting to sink. During its time, the Aztec empire ruled over that area, until one day Spanish explorer Hernan Contes made it clear he was there to conquer the area. The Aztec emperor, when he first heard the news did nothing as he feared Cortez was a god and even offered him gift despite Cortez being there to take over. Mexico City is home to many beautiful museums, in fact it’s among one of the cities with the most museums in the world, which some are free in the weekends.
The economy of Mexico is vastly diverse, much like that of the United States. Mexico has many different sources of economic revenue including tourism, oil, agriculture, and the automobile industry. The USDS website reports the percentage breakdown of Mexico’s gross domestic product (GDP), with the largest portion (61%) coming from the service sector. The site defines the service sector as commerce and tourism, financial services, transportation and communications. In 2010, Mexico attracted 21.3 million tourists, making it the 10th most visited destination in the world. The remaining portion of GDP is broken down between industry and agriculture. Industry accounts for (31%) of GDP and is defined as a combination of food and beverage, tobacco, chemicals, iron and steel, and others. The remaining 5% of GDP comes from agriculture, with the top three crops being corn, wheat, and soybeans. Mexico also has a variety of natural resources including petroleum, silver, copper, and gold, which is included under...
In today’s world, the Aztec’s subside in the vicinity of Mexico City. There are over 1 million people. This is considered the biggest aboriginal group in Mexico. Aztec-Nahuatl is the language that is still used today. The main religion is a mix of Aztec and Roman Catholicism.
Honduras is a country in Central America suffering from various human rights violations. People living in Honduras are being killed by military and police forces, they are not given a proper justice system, and their president does nothing about these problems. Honduras has close to no government. The people living in Honduras are allowed to do anything they want and get away with it, while nothing seems to be getting done to stop this problem. This creates very dangerous living conditions for every person living in Honduras. You cannot have a society without any rules and expect anything to go smoothly. We should care about the issues that are going on in Honduras because it currently is a society that is unable to develop or make the most of any advantages which could be offered to them without a president caring or a government helping. People of Honduras are not protected from the violence and danger that happens, while the police and military are the ones killing instead of protecting Honduras’s citizens, like they should be doing. Hondurans are not given the right to be legally protected which is the lack of Honduras’s justice system. Honduras is in trouble.
A revolution occurs when a need for drastic change is necessary to alter ones way of living. The change they are fighting for would end up to be a positive impact once victory prevails, but of course with every battle there are disagreements and violent quarrels. Revolution may seem to be a negative connotation, but there are always two sides to every story. Just like many other countries around the world a Latin American country called Mexico went through a revolution of their own. Although the Mexican Revolution was mainly fought for the distribution of land, it opened a gateway for the women. One of their main issues during the Mexican revolution dealt with women and their struggled determination for equality. Having many roles in society with restrictions placed upon them, an urge for mobilization, and a wonderfully strong woman role model named Hermila Galindo, it gave them all a reason for the extra push they needed for the change they wanted for the future. Being able to finally put their voice in action the women of Mexico fought proudly for what they believed was right.
Human Trafficking in Mexico Slavery has occurred for the past hundreds of years, it’s still occurring in the 21st century. The name that people have for slavery in modern day is human trafficking; it is one of the top crimes in Mexico. Not only are the people that are being trafficked victims, the families of these people will never see each other again. Trafficking in Mexico has become popular with the drug cartels and they are starting to rely on trafficking as their main source of income, such as the Zetas. These problems have caused pain for many in Mexico and even in the U.S. because of the shared border and some U.S. citizens have lost some of their loved ones because of the trafficking, this is the reason that the U.S. should get involved and help Mexico.
“The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.”~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
To be given an opportunity to do business in Mexico, one must understand where to start and how to deal with a totally different social and cultural environment from what one is accustomed to. To succeed in making a good first impression and to carry out any type of business transaction, it is important to understand what these differences are.
The Mexican Drug war has been going on since 2001 and has changed peoples views on Mexico as a country. It has been defined by Wikipedia as “an ongoing armed conflict between rival drug cartels fighting each other for regional control and against the Mexican government forces and civilian vigilante groups”. There are different cartels all fighting for businesses smuggling drugs into the USA. This is a major problem for Mexico and the US and if they don’t do something to prevent it continuing the lives of innocent civilians and tourists will be put in jeopardy.
