Grotesque in literature is the way of getting attention of the readers by distorting and exaggerating something to an extent that evokes the feelings of empathy and unpleasant peculiarity at the same time. Metamorphosis which is a famous short story by Franz Kafka provides many grotesque examples in it since Kafka practices the grotesque. In this paper, grotesque elements of ‘Metamorphosis’ will be presented and analyzed through the view of Bakhtin.
