In the textile industry, merchandisers have a predominantly significant part because of the exhaustive nature of product range. The practice of buying and selling materials and services are called as merchandising. Merchandising activity coordinates different departments in the garment industry. It develops a valuable relationship with the buyers. It builds excellent relationship with the buying houses and merchandiser concentrate to queries, order processing and assessment of apparel products. 19.5 Workflow of sampling
19.6.12 Pre-production meeting (PPM)
After all the samples are approved by the buyers and all raw materials are organized in the stores, then the mass production has to be started. Prior to that, the merchandisers have to organize a pre-production meeting with the production manager and other department heads to plan the process to avoid any delays in target time.
19.6.13 Forwarding of production file to production planning and control
Production file is a manuscript or document which contains all the information of a particular garment style. This document has to be prepared by the merchandiser. Production file is then forwarded to CPC once the pre-production sample is approved; along with the file merchandiser will forward the approved pre-production sample too. Finally the same is forwarded to PPC after examination the file by the CPC.
