Mental illness is widely documented as affecting a significant portion of the population. None the less, it hard to determine the exact figure of people suffering from the illness. The delinquent can be credited to matters as the changing meaning of mental disease as difficulties in diagnosing, classifying and reporting cerebral disorder. This paper provides in-depth explanation of mental illness demonstrating the arguments related to the concept of mental health. However, a person been mentally healthy does not necessarily mean that a person is not suffering from mental health challenges (Mentalhalth.org.uk, 2014). Noble mental health can aid a person cope with every aspect in life. However, despite mental health been admirable, an individual’s state of mind is continuously changing thus different life situations can affect the mental health of a person. There different symptoms than are visible in a person suffering from mental health. Also, mental health can is explained as a state of lacking mental illness or experiencing psychological well-being thus the individual functions at satisfactory level of behavior change and emotional level. From the point of holism or optimistic psychology, mental wellbeing can include a person’s ability to create balance between activities in life and the efforts of achieving life resilience and having the ability to enjoy life. More than 26% of American over the age of 18 meet the measures for suffering from mental health. This is just evidence on the agency in which the problem needs to be solved. According to a report from WHO, around $2.5 trillion is used up in mental health (Amanda, 56). This is evidence enough that half of the total world population is suffering from mental health. A person’s emotional health can impact poor mental health and physical health leading to challenges such as substance abuse. It is crucial to maintain good mental health thus living a long healthy life because poor mental health can limit a person from living an enriching life. When a person has stable mental health, they can participate in any activities in their life without fear. The life becomes enjoyable and interesting to live. In cases of challenges and difficulties, the individual can adequately find solutions. However, this is not the case in mentally ill individuals.
