There were several important inventions during Medieval Japanese times; but there were three key inventions that really advanced Japanese culture. Did you know the Soroban? It was the second advance calculator after China during Medieval times. The Japanese were the first to create a Katana that was curved. Unfortunately, some medieval Japanese inventions were destroyed, and created a new look, like the Katana.
The ancient Japanese had many valuable inventions; but these three really helped advance their culture. The ancient Japanese used the soroban to help calculate by moving balls or beads from rods and count from them, invented by Japan 14th century. The second invention the Kantana invented by Muromachi period (1392-1573). It helped
The Industrial Revolution was a time in where machines were making great changes in people's’ lives. Making threads were easier to make with the spinning jenny, clothes were being made faster than in a blink of an eye. Machines were being spread throughout the globe in which for some countries were good and for some were bad. The Japanese borrowed many ideas from but in a country like Japan silk and other clothes goods were needed and making Japan very rich in connections with other countries and money. The idea of the machines were very revolutionary for the Japanese, especially since silk needed a long process to make into threads. But there was some costs in employing workers for these factories and some benefits for the employees who were
In the book Samurai, Warfare and the State in Early Medieval Japan, Karl Friday focuses on war in early medieval Japan. A central thesis could be the political primacy of the imperial court. (Lamers 2005) This is the tenth through fourteenth centuries, before the samurai became prominent in Japan and were trying to form themselves into more of what we think of them today. Friday focuses on five aspects of war in his book; they are the meaning of war, the organization of war, the tools of war, the science of war, and the culture of war.
There have been many inventions throughout history and some of them have been a lot more helpful than others. The GPS, the Pacemaker, and the cell phone are all very important innovations made to the new world. Without these modern day inventions a lot of thing and the way we interact would be different
Feudal Japan and Feudal Europe had similarities and differences. Both Feudal Japan and Feudal Europe had professional warriors, for Japan it was the samurai, and for Europe the knights. They both had religious beliefs such as Buddhism and Christianity. Japan was an island and was isolated, whereas Europe wasn’t isolated nor an island. Feudal Japan lasted from 1185-1603, while Feudal Europe lasted from the 9th to the 15th centuries.
Within a short period of time, Japan had caught up with many Western technologies; having established universities, founded telegraph and railroad lines, as well as a national postal system being created. Shipping and textile industries were a huge success an exports rose.
Our society takes things for granted that the ancient civilizations originally invented. In southwestern Asia around 3500 B.C. the first River Valley Civilizations began. These early civilizations invented many things. The early River Valley Civilizations of Mesopotamia made key contributions to future societies. Two contributions from the Mesopotamian Civilization were the invention of cuneiform and Hammurabi’s Code.
There were many technological innovations through the 15th-17th centuries that helped influence turning points in History. Some of those examples include shipbuilding, navigation and others. The most influential of all of them however, is gunpowder.
According to Top inventions and technical innovations of World War 2, “Saying that World War II completely changed the world sounds like either a massive understatement or a trivialization of the entire conflict.” Back in the 1900s, new ideas shaped and changed the world. During WWII, there were many inventions that gave each side of the war advantages. In the following paragraphs, it will tell you some of the major inventions of WWII. Hope you enjoy!
Now, the second among my choices was the printing press invented during the Renaissance period by Johannes Gutenberg. This item revolutionized printing, “making it simple and more affordable” (http://www.enchantedlearning.com/inventors/indexp.shtml). This would enable information to become widely available among the populace. Although it may not have occurred right away, this would increase the education among a society and harvest more educated people with more potential.
Women warriors in Japan in medieval Japan were usually described as having long, black hair and a fair complexion. They rode horses and handled weapons like bows and arrows and swords. Tomoe Gozen was one of these warriors. She was a figure in the Genpei war where the Minamoto won and moved the Kyoto capital to Kamakura. While she was an important warrior, she was thought of as lower because she was a woman. “Bushido, the ‘Way of the Warrior,’ is ‘a teaching primarily for the masculine sex.’”
The Japanese have been around for many years. They are a very distict population where their culture influences many aspects of our lives. A brief history of Japan will enlighten the many ideas and topics in which explains how and why these ideas play a role in their culture. Shinto is the older animist religion of traditional Japan. However, Japans’ religious status is Buddhism. This faith has been sacred for just litte over twelve hundred years. These two religions have intertwined and influenced each other and Japanese culture. The two religions are very common, you would be able to find both of these religions easily. Over the centuries the capital of the Japan has been shifted around. The capital city has moved from Nara to Kyoto and now Tokyo. Japan has also seen many political structurs.
I believe we can all agree that Japanese samurais and European knights are two of the most skilled and famous forms of warriors in history, right? Well both warriors began their trade at a very young age, and went through multiple stages of training throughout their lives. They both had a code of honor basically, but they differed from one another in quite a few ways. The big question is, “Were the similarities greater than the differences?”. Right off the bat I began to ponder the technicalities of the answer to this question. Before I get too scrambled up in the technicalities, let’s discuss some these differences and the similarities and figure out how this plays out. Before we conduct this discussion, let’s review our key terms. A clan is a group of close-knit and interrelated families. Feudalism was a political and economic system that flourished in Europe from the 9th to the 15th century, based on higher classes giving random services and items in exchange for something else. Knights were men who served their lord as a mounted soldier in armor. Samurai’s were members of a powerful military social class in feudal Japan. A shogun was a hereditary commander-in-chief in feudal Japan. Chivalry was the medieval knightly system with its religious, moral, and social code. Bushido was the code of honor and morals developed by the Japanese samurai.
There are numerous amounts of inventions, especially when talking about the United States. Over the centuries, society has begun to use more and more technology. The U.S. has produced amazing inventions, but I see the telephone, the automobile, the airplane, and even the computer as the most important inventions. In order to ranks these inventions one must look at how they benefit communication, society, and how the world functions with it.
