A Great Role Model Wouldn’t you want a role model? This man is my role model. He had McAlpin’s. He is a good role model because he was a reporter, his family, and his actions. He achieve everything. McAlpin was a good role model because he was a reporter. He was the first African American reporter. He fast’s other white reporters and they thought that black people couldn’t be reporters. This led for everyone to believe that anyone can do anything. This is why being an African American reporter makes him a good role model. He was a good role model because of his family. As a black reporter McAlpin family thought he was a hero. His son Sherman was very proud. He wanted to be like him. McAlpin’s dad was proud to. This is why
He never set foot in combat, however. He was arrested because he wouldn’t give up his seat on a segregated bus. He received an honorable discharge, and was sent home. This was just the start of something much bigger. This was the start of a black man changing the segregated world into a world where we could all come together.
He showed many signs of a great and loving person to all races. The blacks called him Mr. Lonnie. The blacks would often come to him not only for money, as he is an employer and a generally nicer man, but also for advice on a misguided child. Lonnie, was a man lacking of fulfillment but, extremely proud. He was a respected man from both the black and whites. McLaurin, being around his grandfather so much, was left with a huge impression . Melton, was taught to be a man who would stand for the those in need and those of different
is because I think he is a good role model because he pushed through all of the troubles he had
Even though McClellan wasn’t very good at letting his men go and making decisions, he was great at bringing the men’s spirits up when they were down. Every man under his command loved and cherished George B. McClellan. Stonewall was also respected by his men but not loved like McClellan. The name Stonewall Jackson put fear into the hearts of the Union soldiers, and he was respected for that.
represented a turning point in black American history. It, presented an opportunity to improve race relations at home despite the fighting abroad. How could you be racist against people whom are fighting to stabilize your freedom and the freedom of others was the mentality in the minds of black soldiers.
someone who deserves to be known as a good role model. Here are some reasons to
Emmett Till’s death inspired people to try to end racism so African-Americans could be granted their rights and protection. Racism, discrimination, and prejudice had been going on for too long, and it was time to stop it. This inspired many people to hold bus boycotts and protests (PBS). A new era was beginning where racism was considered unjust and hurtful, and people would have to face consequences for their actions. Emmett Till was the beginning of this change. He should be considered a hero because without him who knows what our country would be like. He helped African-Americans to be seen as equal, and not an inferior race. His death was a tragedy, but something good came out of it which was freedom. “ I look to a day when people will not be judge by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character” (BrainyQuote).
...anged those around him and changed the way people lived their lives. Robinson was someone who worked for a cause not only for himself, but also for his fellow Negroes, and his country. His work for civil rights not only came when he had to provoke a change for his advancement, but even after he had advanced, he did not forget his fellow Negroes. His acts in the 1950's, 1960's and shortly in the 1970's has helped and influenced America to end segregation and racism in the world.
African Americans were among the worst treated races in the US; however, this did not stop them from fighting for the rights that so many had died for. It seemed as if black people would never be treated respectfully, but just like in comic books, there is always a hero that will fight for his people. This hero soon came to the scene and he was fierce enough to change the lives of many people. Most importantly, he broke the color barrier and created a path that would allow others to follow. However, something that was inevitable was the threats and racial remarks they had to face.
Malcolm X should be everyone’s hero, someone people like myself should look up to as a human being. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either a racist or is extremely ignorant. Malcolm X wore his heart on his sleeve and whether right or wrong he was never afraid to say what was on his mind to anyone who cared to listen. I personally believe Malcolm X’s beliefs give me strength to do what's right and carry myself with dignity. I remember, as a kid, my parents had tons of books about Black History books. The first book I read was a Malcolm X biography. I realized Malcolm X was truly a powerful, significant, and essential work for all time.
...ionary leader that this country needed but did not necessarily want. He was a controversial and compelling figure in American history. He grew up in harsh circumstances and had to fight his way out of hardship and peril. He used his time of incarceration as a point of reflection, opening himself to new ideas and philosophies. He was reviled by many for his ideas about the revolution against whites; he was also beloved by the African-American community because of his outright and passionate support for the equality of the minority, and the belief that blacks should have a place of power in American society. Malcolm X embodied what the civil rights movement represented and he should be considered as one of its greatest leaders because he helped shape the public’s understanding through his own experiences and his hard-won perspective, leadership, and sacrifice.
True role models are those who possess the qualities that we would want to have in the near future and those who interest us in a way that make us want to be a better person. They teach us more about ourselves and encourage us to make better choices. A role model is not just someone who is successful, but someone who has had similar experiences that we have had. In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee demonstrates that Atticus Finch is a true role model. Over the course of the novel, Atticus stands up for his beliefs, respects everyone despite who they are and behaves as a true father. Atticus is truly the ideal role model.
Role models can make a huge difference in a child's life. My Physical Education teacher had a major impact of effecting of what I want to be now. Aleta Jo Crotty helped me to learn to take responsibility for my actions, and in my choices I am in control. By using guidelines that was set by her for my life, I hope to reach just one child.
Many people find someone in his/her life to look up to, a role model. There are many different kinds of role models; they can be singers, public speakers, a parent, or even a friend. Role models also are not determined by certain criteria. A role model can be a role model just because they are a leader or have a great talent. Oprah Winfrey is considered a role model to many individuals because of her tough childhood, wonderful charity work, her schools, and the true relationships with her fans. Oprah stands out among many people on her ability to feel others’ pain and help those people get through their troubling times.
Many of us have role models in our lives and to most people role models are athletes and movie stars, but to me a role model is much more. To me a role model is a person who has positively influenced someone in life, and is not a person filled with selfishness and greed. They help shape someone’s personality, and characteristics. They are people who someone can look up to for advice in a hard situation, and know that they will give those words of wisdom. They will never judge our past actions, instead only look to help because they really care. A role model is someone who we should never feel awkward talking to about our problems. A perfect role model for me is my mother. She is a wonderful human being. She’s smart, wise, ambitious, patient and such a loving person. There are no words that can describe my gratitude towards her, but through this essay I will describe some of her characteristics that makes her my role model.
