This truly inspiring man, a fellow Bahamian, and a role model to many, Sir. Sydney Poitier once asserted: "I always wanted to be someone better the next day than I was the day before " Poitier, partnered with the late great Maya Angelou had an indelible impact on my character. They were psychologically crucial as I hungered for success, and it kept me resilient amidst all of the failures and mediocrities in my life. I attribute the content of my character to Poitier, and Angelou is the origin for the manifestation of my critical thinking. Albeit, they are just the pillars of my personality. I can divulge, as evidenced by witnessing job incompetence, that there are a number inconspicuous allegiances within the higher social class; i.e., societal nepotism. I will elucidate my point further by saying, it exists everywhere and my qualms do not reside with the existence of such duplicitous proclivities; but, the emergence of formulaic dishonesty. I consider myself a very honest candidate, any university that considers me can expect an outspoken yet composed intellectual. An intellectual who is compliant and adaptable. I have had stratospheric grade point averages and averages that I may want to forget; however, I have always remained honest with myself. Hard work and integrity is absolutely critical to achieve prosperity. Nothing living on this planet can dissuade me from pursuing my dreams. I will never accept dishonest and disrespectful proffers. At this juncture of life, what I need is my future university to observe my moral and primal appetite for success. It is this trait that fuels my ambitions. I may not have obtained my first degree as gracefully and as unmarred as I would've liked; nevertheless, I possess an associate degree, with merit.
