Mauna Loa is a beautiful volcano in Big Island, Hawaii that my family and I went to visit during a family trip in 2004. The best activity we did during our trip was when my family rode up Mauna Loa to watch the sunset. Mauna Loa is a very popular volcano but is more well-known for the sunrise (but you must wake up extremely early to see it.) My family does not really enjoy the morning so we decided to go for the sunset. Going up this volcano I had to conquer one of my biggest fears, which are heights. This volcano was over 20,000 feet high and definitely out of my comfort zone.
That morning my mother had gone to talk to one of the hotel workers about activities to do while we were on vacation. I remember my mom coming back to the hotel room saying that the man at the front desk said we should see this sunset from the volcano. He said that everyone who did it thought it was beautiful and worth it, and we should do it. He also told my mom that we needed to pack warm clothes because it gets cold. We decided as a family that we should try it. My mom made us pack jeans and sweatshirts but my brother and I thought we wouldn't need them because growing up in Virginia, we thought we could handle it. I was a little nervous about the trip but excited at the same time to see this stunning sunset from so far up.
The day we took the trip was such a great day. We lucked out that day, because every other day we were in Hawaii it rained everyday, all day. It was finally a sunny, warm day-- exactly what a person expects the weather to be in Hawaii.
We had rented a red convertible for the time we were down at Hawaii and that was what we were driving up the volcano in. I was excited because it was my first time riding in a convertible but very anxio...

...e top of the clouds looked like little mountains in a valley. Some of the clouds were so tall it looked like kids could climb up one side and slide down the other side on a sled or tube. Other clouds were a little lower creating the valleys we saw. It was the most magnificent thing I have seen in nature.
I was amazed that something that beautiful was right in front of me. It made me appreciate nature and remember how much I like it. It is amazing and very interesting to me how something that beautiful could be made and seen in nature. Things like that don't appear in nature everyday, and if a person is lucky to see something like it, they should appreciate it. I was so proud of myself that I decided to face my fear of heights and came to see this beautiful sunset. It was an amazing view and a very fun trip. I was so glad that my parents had decided to go and try it.
the extremely blue summer sky. It was very hot. I remember this because of the
When I stepped out of the hot, airless plane into the bright, dazzling sunlight beaming down across the burning concreate, I felt excited and nervous. Holding my beach bag in my hand and slipping my Ray Ban sunglasses on with my other, I flip-flopped down the airspace. Overhead I heard the screams of gulls and the chatter of the small fluffy birds. I suddenly realized I had arrived to Hawaii. This trip was such an unforgettable vacation for me because I got to witness the beauty of nature that Hawaii has to offer.
The weather that day wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be. It was gloomy and it would drizzle once in a while. I enjoyed the drive up to LA, even with a little rain. It took us about an hour and 50mins. We left around 1:00 pm and arrived around 2:50pm. The good thing about the drive was that we didn’t get lost. The only bad part was the traffic. We both expected to get traffic but not as bad.
The eruption of Kilauea continues to flow at two places in the park. The vent within Halema'uma'u Crater and the Pu'u'' vent. In conclusion, the trip to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park should be an experience to remember. On this trip you will experience a cultural, creative, inspirational, and memorable theme. The Park has many visitors each year, to my knowledge the experience is unimaginable.
The mountains were tall (11,000 feet +) and covered with bright powdery snow. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. I was eager to set-up camp and prepare for our nine day hunt. But, Dad said that we had to drive around and check out all the good places, just to make sure that we were in the best area. This was partially understandable, but since I am a teenager I'm not supposed to understand anything! So, we spent another several hours driving. We went up and down through the mountains and then we saw it. The spot was beautiful; it was right on the edge of a vertical drop-off, over looking everything. It was like paradise, but colder!
The Mauna Loa volcano is located in Hawaii and means "Long Mountain" in Hawaiian. It is a giant, basaltic shield volcano. It is one of the largest volcanoes and mountains in the world and has been called the "monarch of mountains". It has an estimated volume of 9,600 cubic miles and takes up half the land of Hawaii. It extends about 120 km starting from the southern tip of the island to the northern region. It is 97 km (60 miles) long, 48 km (30 miles) wide, and is 8,742 km (28,680 miles) high from the base on the sea floor to the top. The slopes are steeper than 12 degrees and about 4 degrees at the top of the volcano. Mauna Loa formed about half a million years ago and in the middle stages of forming into a shield volcano where lava flows to form a sloped and broad flat domed volcanic cone. Along with Mauna Kea, the Mauna Loa volcano is responsible for the creation of the Hawaiian Islands. Mauna Loa has erupted thirty-three times since 1843 and is known as one of the most active volcanoes in the world today. The last eruption was 1984 and lava flowed within 4 miles of the city of Hilo. This shows that it is dangerous to live anywhere near Mauna Loa and that it poses as a threat to anyone living near it because it has a very high possibility of erupting within a very short span of time. Below is a picture of Mauna Loa taken from a bird's eye view.
Let us not forget the ocean. There is nothing more spectacular then watching 12 to 20 foot waves crashing against the coral reefs. It is really something. I myself will never forget the first time I went surfing. At first, I got it down pretty well. I had very good balance and excellent control. I began to swim out farther then I should have. I see this wave come in that just blows me away. I try to paddle in to avoid it but it was too late.
When I was seventeen years old and going into my senior year of high school I was given the opportunity to go on a trip to Spain with my school. It was a two week trip during the summer, visiting different cities and historical sites throughout the country. While we where there we went to see a Flamenco dance show in Seville which is about an hour and a half outside of Madrid, the city where we were staying. It was a Wednesday around one o’clock when we left and the ride up there was really beautiful. We were driving through the country side passing some small villages on the side of the road. We arrived there around 3:30 and sat down for the show. It was really cool they had all the ladies with their bright dresses and fruit in their hair dance around while we ate lunch. And the show ended around five and we started to head home. On the way home we were driving through the countryside along side a small village when all of a sudden we heard a loud bang and the bus started slowing down. After a couple of ...
The sun left me with a memory of its beauty with a sunset. The sunset left me with a reminder that the sun is not for ever. The lone bird that stayed with me and watched the sunset showed me that you don't have to know someone to share a beautiful moment with them. Beautiful moments are beautiful moments, but they have a little more definition behind them if you share them with someone or something. The night sky and stars, gave me a sense of peace, knowing that we are never alone. The stars are always there, even if we can't see them.
Some say the weather was "ideal" for flying, but others say that later in the day the weather turned

The flight to London felt like it took forever, we were all so tired and just wanted to take a shower and go to bed, but we had to get off that plane and get on another going to Scotland. When we finally landed in Scotland, I couldn’t believe I was actually in a foreign country, I was so excited. The first thing I did when we landed in Scotland was to look through the window, of course what I saw were other airplanes and men running around getting luggage and showing planes to the terminal. After we got all of our luggage and the rental car, we walked outside, as I looked around, I could see so much green in the distance; so many different colors of green. I had never seen so much beauty in one place.
The falls were rushing down layer after layer making a massive pool at the bottom. The water was ice cold with the ground feeling as slick as a freshly cut piece of countertop. After we had cooled off by swimming in the water, we started our four miles hike back down the mountain. However, this time I did not use my phone once, I just took in the magnificence with my eyes rather than looking through a lense.
It was close to four o’clock in the morning and we were tired. We met up with my dad at the airport and grab us a taxi. As we leave, we drive by a desert that was completely surrounded with sand. Passing through we made it into the city, looking at the flashing lights and buildings that stood tall. It was too early to go out and explore, we needed our rest. As we walk into our hotel, it was like walking into an expensive apartment. With its very own kitchen, washer and dryer, and a patio to top it all
After we got off the airplane, we rented a car and drove to my Uncle Joe?s house. We finally got there and then we all went out to eat dinner. We went to some Italian restraunt and boy was it good. To this day, I have never tasted anything as good as the Veal Picata I had that day. I ate so much that I could hardly move and once I got back to my uncle?s, I just passed out and went to bed. I had a big and exciting day ahead of me. I was going to Universal Studios and I couldn?t wait.
