I am writing to apply for the program of the Master of Arts in Urban Ministry (MAM) at McCormick Theological Seminary (MTS) in Chicago, IL. I am extremely interested in your school because McCormick is one of the most esteemed school which produces excellent church leaders in Korea as well as in America. MTS is the perfect place for me to develop my passion for music and faith. I believe my undergraduate degree in church music will fit the MAM program to be an adequate combination of theology and music for the urban ministry. This program will help me to systemize my church experiences and professional music education, also to actualize them in the congregational context. In addition, my multicultural experience for many years as a spouse of an international student will help me to comprehend the nature of the urban ministry as a music director. …show more content…
Through the course work, I could learn how important role of music plays in the worship service. The indefinite vision of becoming a choir conductor as a high priest of praise stirred in me. The vision formed as my calling after I met my mentor. She came to Korea as a missionary in 1970s and helped to set up the department of church music in our institute. Also, she was the director of the Choral Ensemble which I joined in 2001. Her love and hospitality inspired me and changed my vision into a servant-priest of praise. The Ensemble made concert tours in many different places such as prisons, nursing homes, and overseas. Especially, I traveled USA in 2001 and visited several churches for the concert. Since then, I have hoped to study abroad to broaden my

Music is a form of art which blends melodies with words to produce a piece that communicates with people’s thoughts and emotions, by stimulating their senses and thus extracting responses. Gospel, a distinctive genre of music, makes use of sounds and words to praise and worship God. It is also used to teach the teachings of God in an entertaining and captivating manner. Gospel music not only fills people’s hearts with hope and joy, but also relieves their stress and comforts them. One of the most influential figures who has played a major role in the flourishing of gospel music is James Edward Cleveland. Cleveland was an accomplished vocalist, performer, composer, producer, philanthropist, preacher, choral director and pianist; hence earning titles such as: “Crown Prince of Gospel” and “King of Gospel Music.”
My name is Valorie M Altamirano, and I am a Central Arizona College graduate with an Associate degree in Fire Science Technology. Unfortunately, my degree does not meet the liberal study requirements to seek a Bachelor's degree. In order to achieve my goals, it is necessary that I complete seven General Study courses. The hold-up for continuing my education is unemployment, ineligibility for a Pell grant and a hold for a $252 charge that will prevent future
I truly hope that you will take my application into consideration for the Loyola University Maryland School of Education. Teaching and education is a passion of mine and I feel that this graduate program will help me hone my skills to become a well-rounded and effective educator. I bring to the table experience in academic research and applied experience as an employee of the Harford County Public Schools.
On November 16th, 2013, I attended a concert choir, fall choral concert. This event took place on the Wheaton College Campus, in the Edman Chapel at 7:30 pm. The chapel was well-lit, with long pews for the audience to be seated. The concert began with the audience looking up into a balcony, where the ensemble stood in neat rows. They watched the conductor, who stood on a stage in front of the audience, waiting for their cue.
I would welcome the opportunity to expand upon my application either through a visit to the school and/or at interview.
Music majors do have some respite from the demands of our discipline. For voice majors, there is choir. Choir provides an opportunity to learn in a more passive manner. The choir director leads the members of the choir toward the desired goal – the mastery of the piece of music to be performed. While choir members must be attentive and receptive, the burden is primarily carried by the director.
The understanding of music in the church is important to any believer. For worship, through music, to be what God intended it to be, one must understand the important role of music and how to biblically apply it to a service. The Bible, however, does not give strict guidelines on this matter. Therefore, the church must interrupt what the Bible does say about worship into their routine. The issues discussed in the chapters to follow are the author’s position of issues within the church. This conviction will then be examined by the Bible and discussed.
“Constant efforts, dedication, devotion and determination are the key to success” This principle I have followed in my career. Setting goals and striving hard to accomplish them has always been my strength in professional as well as personal life. I have always been amazed by computers, code –programs and was keen to understand the underlying meaning, gimmick, structure and pattern of how programs actually work. Learning about simple Foxpro programs, excel sheet formulae, C programs at an early age heightened my interest in computer programs. This childhood interest urged me to do a diploma in information technology and later bachelor’s degree in the same area. Having completed six years course in Information Technology, and two years of experience in IT. I stand by the principal “Stay Hungry” and this has helped me in achieving my goals. Standing by this I would like to explore ahead and pursue MS in MIS. I would like emerge to put to use this knowledge to pursue MS program in MIS.
Music is enhanced by gospel music in several ways. Some might say the meaning in the song or the lyrics enhance/s it. Others might say the melody and the beat enhance it. Few others might say that the cross culture of the music enhance it. But everyone has their own meaning of music enhancing their lives. In this paper I will explain how music is enhanced by gospel music and I will give a repoire of how a certain artist has more than usual enhanced my life through his God-filled/ gospel music.
Gospel music is “type of music based on the hymns and spirituals of Americans from the Sou...

“If you can write it and you can say it, you can do it.” In a single sentence Professor Eric Claville succeeded in attracting me to the study of public administration. Sitting in Introduction to Public Policy class, I was instantly fascinated by the idea that through effective communication I could improve policies and programs to better serve the public. Professor Claville’s lessons enabled me to think analytically as I developed a scholarly policy brief entitled “Enforcing a State-wide Texting While Driving Law in Arizona”. Soon, I was faced with the notion that public administration was not only an agent for change, but a tool to fulfill my passion. It is a possible pathway to take on a leadership role that would make a difference for disadvantaged groups.
I am applying to Seoul National University to continue the development of my critical learning skills and to broaden my knowledge base. I feel I am now ready to complete a degree, and understand what is required to function successfully in our environment. I realize that to advance from the world of undergraduate college curriculum to that of an atmosphere of higher education in graduate training, takes much of a prospective graduate student??s time and effort.
