E.T. Independence Day. Marvin The Martian. These characters are often thought of when it comes to extraterrestrial life. But, would the stereotypical image of the little green men really resemble an extraterrestrial lifeform? Most would associate the idea of alien life with a ridiculous science fiction story. However, considering that we have over two hundred billion galaxies within our universe and billions of star systems within them, is it really possible that there is no other intelligent life? Are we really alone? I am aware that many people disagree with the idea of intelligent life existing elsewhere. Is this just because we haven’t seen it? The signal was traced back to the Sagittarius Constellation, nearly 5000 light years away. This signal remains a mystery to this date in the absence of in-depth investigations. It is likely that our existing technologies may be incapable to interpret the signals transmitted by aliens. What we recognise as noise in our radars every day and ignore may simply be signals from billions of different extraterrestrial intelligence. We always find extraordinary things such as UFOs too farfetched but wouldn’t it be easily possible for civilisations that are billions of years older, to develop such things? We have also seen evidence of extraterrestrials from paintings that date back to the 15th century. “The Madonna with Saint Giovannino” a very famous piece of art depicts the virgin Mary and a man in the background looking at a flying object which is in the shape of a Flying Saucer. This is very similar to the image we associate with a UFO today and it was before the idea of UFOs, could it have been extraterrestrial lifeforms visiting our planet?
