If Martin Luther King Jr. did not have the courage to speak out or experience certain events, the world we live in today would be very different. In America, Martin Luther King Jr. is known as the leader of the civil rights movement. Martin Luther King Jr changed the world by ending segregation, so people of all races will be equal. During his trip to equality, he risked his life and hosted protests and boycotts to gain freedom and equality for all African Americans. Because of his actions, everyone in America is welcome and treated the same. In conclusion, he left a legacy as being a pursuer of equality.

The bus boycott was Martin Luther King’s first accomplishment to ending segregation. Instead of focusing on one city, Martin Luther King tried to end segregation in many cities. Since Martin Luther King ended segregation, he started focusing on gaining African Americans voting rights. In order to get African Americans voting rights, he read a “Give us the Ballot Speech” at the Lincoln Memorial. During his trip for voting rights, he led the Selma march hoping to gain rights for his people. His speech and protest inspired the 1965 voting rights act. Just like the South, the North had discrimination. Thinking about the northern cities, Martin Luther King started an SCLC office in Chicago. King started an SCLC office in Chicago so he could fight poverty. King’s protests won African American residents in Chicago equality. Realizing that people didn’t care about his message, King started to protest against the Vietnam war. Martin Luther King believed that people should focus on African American rights instead of wasting money on the Vietnam war. This action ruined his relationship with President Johnson and news companies. Despite his speech about the Vietnam war, Martin Luther King won the Nobel Peace Prize. Martin Luther King experienced life-threatening and not life-threatening events. Because some people didn’t support the civil rights movement, Martin Luther King’s house was bombed. Martin Luther King told everyone to continue and to ignore threats from others. Martin Luther King still continued despite that his house was bombed. During a book signing, a woman stabbed Martin Luther King on the chest using a letter opener. Martin Luther King was super close to dying that day. In addition, King lead the Selma march which was a fail. People attacked protesters who were participating. Martin Luther King didn’t give up because he defied a court order that banned him from hosting another march. The second Selma march was a success. Because he and many others were protesting, he got arrested 20 times (bio.com). Martin Luther King didn’t care about being sent to jail, he cared about gaining African Americans rights in America. In Conclusion, Martin Luther King had courage during his pursuit of freedom.

If Martin Luther King was alive, he would see how he changed our country. Everyone gets along. Segregation is illegal. Martin Luther King would be happy to see his dream come true.
