Marriage in modern times is much different than it was in traditional times. In modern times the value of women is recognized and respected. Women have many more opportunities in modern times than what was available in traditional times. The value of women in modern times was not very high. They were disrespected and treated like property. I will be answering several questions such as, what should marriage be? Should marriage be equal? What is power in a marriage? What are the roles in marriage? Who should earn the primary income for the household? What are the options for each gender in divorce? What are the options for each gender if he/she stays single? That is not how men and women are to relate to each other. Men and women have distinct roles in marriage. Men built and made to work outside the home and women are to work within it. And it is clear what women are meant to do, women have a womb made to to the task of raising children, since very clearly men that part in their anatomy. (O’Neil)
