Antony’s Personality Taking Over in Rome
In the play Julius Caesar, written by William Shakespeare, there are a variation of unique characters and individuals. Each character possesses individual behaviors, intelligence, and actions. One of the most intriguing characters in the play is Mark Antony, often referred to as just Antony. As the play progresses, it shows Mark Antony’s loyalty to Julius Caesar, resourcefulness and other intriguing abilities. Mark Antony is an ambitious and loyal follower, who changes his ways and actions to become a manipulating man, looking for justice in a broken city known as Rome. Mark Antony was an ambitious and loyal follower of Julius Caesar. Antony along with the people of Rome all believed Caesar deserved the crown, except for Cassius and soon to be conspirators. This shows how Anthony was a very loyal follower to Julius Caesar if he believed Caesar was a perfect leader for Rome. Since Mark Anthony was the person who was going to put the crown on Caesars head, he must believe he would be the best person to become king.(Act I Scene II). Mark Antony also speaks a long speech in front of all the Romans when presenting Caesar's dead body. This shows a lot of courage about his character by standing in front of a large crowd, risking his life to find justice for a loyal leader(Act III, Scene II, Line 165). Toward the end of Mark Antony's speech was when many Romans finally agreed to be apart of the civil war wanting revenge for Caesar's death. They finally went into battle with Cassius and Brutus to avenge Caesar’s death. Antony finally gets the justice he seeked for, when both Cassius and Brutus died during battle. This serves justice to Caesar's family and friends and also allows some Justice to Rome in remembrance for a long time ruler and leader (Act V, Scene III,Line 45,
