Police arrived at Margaret Smith’s house early in the morning at about 1 A.M. When the detectives arrived, they saw Charles lying on the stairs unconscious, with his feet on the stairs and his whole body on his back. Charles had an unbroken glass in his hand. Charles was wearing a robe over a tuxedo, with dress shoes on, and Margaret was standing over his body with a shocked expression. Something was being cooked on a pan on the stove, which was on. There was a plant in a pot next to the staircase, and a mirror and two candle holders with candles in them on the wall next to the staircase. Margaret had told the detectives that she and her husband got into a fight. She went to the country club for a party and came back to the house for a drink with her friends and find her husband on the stairs, who according to her was coming down for another drink when he fell down the stairs. Our investigation and evidence led us to believe that Margaret’s story is false and she is lying about what happened to her husband, Charles Smith. …show more content…

As a rule, when someone falls down the stairs, they will most likely drop whatever they’re holding to grab onto something, and if they’re holding a glass it will break when they fall. Charles should have dropped the glass if he fell down the stairs, and the glass would’ve broken if he fell down the stairs. Charles is lying on his back with his feet on the stairs. Generally, if someone falls down the stairs, they most likely would fall face first and on their stomach. If Charles fell down the stairs, he most likely would’ve fell down the stairs on his face and on his stomach, not with his head facing upwards and his back on the ground. Something is being cooked on a pan on the stove, which is on. Generally, when people are cooking on a stove they don’t leave the leave the room.
