March: Book One And March Book Analysis

The most meaningful part of the book for me, was the sit-ins, a form of protest in which demonstrators occupy a place, refusing to leave until their demands are met. The reason the sit-ins were so meaningful is that it really brought attention to how Americans were segregating the African Americas. Just as if you do nothing when a bully, whites, is picking on you, blacks, they will continue picking on you until you fight back. The sit-ins were a nonviolent way to show that they no longer will or have to take the abuse.

In my opinion the purpose of March: Book One and March: Book Two is to follow John Lewis as he struggles to survive though the civil rights movement. Allowing the reader to get a glimpse of what it was like to be a African

With the March books being a graphic novel I believe it makes it a lot easier to read and having pictures go along with the reading, allows the reader to get a glimpse in how the author is presenting the words. The author’s content in the book is such an easy read, that even teenagers would be able to finish it without getting bored.

The reason I chose the race riots for my research, is it really shows the anger and how far the whites were willing to stop the blacks from having any rights. It also showed how the blacks were no longer going to sit idling by and allow the whites to treat them so badly. It is sad but true when it comes to rioting or fighting, it always seems to bring more attention to the cause, then if they did just have peaceful demonstrations. Death and destruction will always get more attention than peaceful demonstrations.

The race riots had an impact on the Civil Rights Movement due to the amount of fighting that the African Americans did. It helped the American people realize just how repressed the blacks really were back in the old days. By actually fighting it brought their issues to the TVs and

The first source I selected was my journal assignment. The Journal assignment gave a hard look into 1967 Buffalo riot.

My second source was a book on Dr. King got shot. Being that Dr. King made a great impression on the American people during the civil war. It would only make sense to use this book as information literature.

My last source was the web. Were I found information on all the riots that happened during the civil war. By using the CRAPP test I was able to chose this website as good information on the riots.

Information Literacy is an important skill for the 21st century do to our busy and always on the move schedules. Recognizing when information is needed and being able to efficiently locate, accurately evaluate, effectively use, and clearly communicate the information, will help out when time is of an essence and the information needs information.
