Manslaughter Kid
I had an aunt who died in a car accident, she died because the driver was drunk. My aunt died in the fatal car accident, but the driver survived and hasn't said anything about it. He was under the influence and that was the reason she died. She was not drinking and if she drove that day she might still been alive. The Ethan Couch case has caused people to discuss about designated drivers and bad parenting.
Ethan Couch caused a major car accident,as a result 4 people ended up deceased and others ended up injured. He was charged with intoxication manslaughter.Ethans defense stated he had affluenza and were backed by a doctor. Ethan was going to be given 20 years in jail, but he ended up only receiving 10 years probation. As soon as he received his punishment, the public were outraged. This was because people get more years for these types of crimes, compared to them he got a slap on the wrist.
Designated drivers are the most important people when considering driving to a place with alcohol. Ethan should have let that one person who wasn't drunk drive, but being persistent caused all of those deaths. In an article, it states “You will have lowered reflex and response time and

Bad parenting also causes many people to do anything they want to. We need parents to be really strict with us to help us knowing our rules and with the world.A lot of people who cause accidents, are people whose parents either rejected them or just let them do whatever, also known also bad parents.Articles state bad parenting is really bad for a kids mental health. Paying attention to your kids, being responsible for them, and not letting them do certain things will help your kids and others later in life and will cause less casualties. You will be thanked later in life and will make this world a splendid place to be
Today’s news covers up the reality that is going around the world. The new is like a distraction for the people of America. He actors, politics, and rich families. The main distraction that has most people in the edge is Ethan Couch murder. A young under age DWI that kills four innocent people for driven under the influence. The punishment that was given to him is for a minor crime like stealing or something in that category. The dead means nothing to the murder but to the family it means the world and mostly if is there children. Parents should not have to see their children die. Why the government is corrupted, wealth, morals, and parents’ education are no longer in place to protect the innocent people.
It is a tragic truth: About 10,000 lives are lost in the United States because of drunk driving each year. Alcohol is wildly known as one of the main reasons of causing social security issue. Small amount can make people feel relaxed, but bigger amount could make them loss their coordination, get feeling of confusion and disorientation, and significantly slowed their reaction time. On average, one person dies every hour because of alcoholic traffic accident in United State. Therefore, the NTSB put out a recommendation last May that the legal blood alcohol content (BAC) level for drivers should be lowered from the current level of .08% to .05%. But for several reasons, we shouldn’t lower the criterion on blood alcohol content.
Ethan Couch was sentenced to ten years of probation and treatment, but no jail time after driving drunk and kill 4 people. His defense to not go to jail because he is a victim of affluenza that makes a lot of arguement. First, that is a official verdict of the court, so we cannot change it. In my opinion, being an “affluenza” person is not his choice because he grows up with the thought that he is on the top of everything. He was too pampered by his wealthy parents, but they did not educate him well. When he does a mistake, no one tell him that it is wrong, so he keep doing that. Athan Couch fells with his mind which lead to he does not know how to act right. He is not able to perceive as a normal person, so we cannot blame everything
The facts are plain and simple, that alcohol and driving do not mix. About three in every ten Americans will be involved in an alcohol related crash at some time in their lives. Every single injury and death caused by drunk driving is totally preventable. To curb this national travesty, concerned Americans need to examine the problems, the effects, and the solutions to drunk driving. First of all, America has had a problem with drunk driving since Ford perfected the assembly line. Alcoholism is a problem in and of itself, but combined with driving can have a wide range of effects. The consequences of this reckless behavior can include a first time DUI or licenses suspension; a small fender bender, or worst of all a deadly crash. Most drivers that have only one or two drinks feel fine, and assume they are in control, which is irresponsible and dangerous. Alcohol is a depressant that slows down the body's ability to react and impairs judgment. To drive well, you need to be able to have a quick reaction time to avoid accidents. Unfortunately, people continue to drink and drive. However,...
A few weeks after being charged as not guilty, the two men admitted to killing Emmitt Till in a newspaper article. The case was already over and closed, though, so they got to walk away with no charges. This was a great injustice that helped show the horridness of the Jim Crow segregation in the southern states of our
Driving under the influence is extremely dangerous. Those who drink and drive tend to have an increased risk of car accidents, highway injuries, and vehicular fatalities. However, there are countless ways to prevent drunk driving. Professor David J. Hanson at the sociology department at the State University of New York states that “designated drivers have saved nearly 50,000 lives and spared many more thousands of people from suffering injury from drunk driving. It is a proven fact that almost 30 people in the US die every day in a motor vehicle accident involving a driver impaired by alcohol.” Every accident caused by drunk driving is one hundred percent preventable.
No one can deny that driving drink has caused traffic deaths and injuries. Drunk driving is one of the most frequently committed crimes in the United States, killing someone approximately every 48 minutes. Drunk driving is “A time when humans willingly enter cages of glass and steel that move in such great numbers at such terrific speed, that subtle turn of the steering wheel can easily result in death” (Thomas). What possesses a person to get ...
There is knocking at a door late at night, and there a policeman standing at the door with information that a family member was in an accident that involved a drunk driver. This is one of those things people hear and believe that it will not happen, but it happens every day. Every 40 minutes, someone in the U.S. is killed by a drunk driver and in 2008, in Montana, 40 percent of all traffic fatalities involved DUIs (“Drunk Driving” 1). Drunk Driving affects everyone and people in Montana should look at what other states do to find ways to make the laws tougher and more enforced.
Drunk driving has been an increasing problem for many years. One issue that contributes to this is that in the United States it is actually legal to drive with a certain alcohol percentage. The blood alcohol limit is 0.8 percent (Drunk Driving). This means that a person may drive legally as long as they have a blood alcohol percentage of 0.8 percent or under. However, even at a percentage of 0.3 there may be some impairment of alertness and concentration (Drunk Driving). Driving requires fast reflexes that may be impaired at a 0.5 percent blood alcohol level but a person with this level of intoxication is not legally drinking and driving. Many people are arrested for drunk driving. In 2009, more than 1.4 million drivers were arrested for driving while under the influence (Drunk Driving). In addition, “an average drunk driver has driven drunk 80 times before their first arrest” (Get Involved). Therefore, there were a minimum of 112 million accounts of drunk driving in 2009 alone. Drunk drivers also cause an increasing number of deaths. Drunk drivers in the United States c...
According to MADD, in 2012 30% of traffic deaths were a result of drunken driving fatalities. There were over 1200 accidents caused by drunk driving, with over 700 injuries. It’s not always the person drinking that is affected by these accidents. Innocent people are seriously injured and even killed every day as a result of other people drinking and driving. Why should they or their families pay for this bad judgment? The worst part is these accidents are preventable. If you are going to drink be responsible enough not to drive. It’s not just your life that could be
Alcohol is something that people use to help with multiply different things and some studies have shown that alcohol may help protect our bodies from cardiovascular disease. Alcohol does have side effects to our health the surroundings around us and can cause violence, vehicle crashes and even suicide. Alcohol does have an effect on people that many social drinkers may not realize. Many people usually have tried alcohol around 13 years of age and high school students consume more wine coolers that are sold in the U.S. and they drink more than 1 billion beers a year. To understand the effects of alcohol, it begins with the brain. It is a curiosity as to why people feel the need to drink and drive. The way the brain works while influenced with alcohol has always fascinated me. Drinking and driving is one of the biggest decisions that alcohol leads to. The National Public Services Research Institute (NHTSA) did a study on 600 people who admitted driving while under the influence of alcohol. They described in detail the decisions they made leading up to the occurrence of driving while impaired like whether to take part in a drinking event, how to get to the event, how much to drink, and how to get home. The people being interviewed revealed more than 2,000 individual decisions that led to alcohol impaired driving. The decisions were then broken down into several categories as shown on the graph attached. Little is known as to what leads people to continue to drinking and driving. But as research shows, people do think, prior to drinking, how they will get home. It’s after they have already had been drinking that they decide to get behind the wheel.
Drunk driving is extremely impactful on the lives of you and others. While drinking and driving, you are not just endangering yourself, you are also endangering the lives of others. The driver of the car does not just control the car with their hands and feet. They need their brain to function properly so that you are able to react to objects on the road quicker and control the car. If you drink then drive/ drink while driving. Alcohol affects your brain in many ways that inhibit your ability to drive. Alcohol will affect your reaction time, it slows your reflexes which decrease your ability to react to objects on the road. It affects your vision, in can impair your color perception, and night vision. It slows down the movement in the muscles in your eye causing your visual perception to change. Alcohol affects your ability to track. You will not be able to judge the position of cars ahead of you, you won’t be able to judge the
Children are influenced by their parents’ action. If the parents are not teaching his or her child what is right from wrong, then it may leave the child to experiment for themselves, like becoming involved in bad activity. If a child commits a delinquent act his or her parent should be held accountable.
...ons were taken, much heartache could be avoided for anyone involved with a drunk driver. Before anyone takes that first drink, they should already have planned ahead because the risk and consequences to themselves and others is just not worth putting the key in the ignition when someone has been drinking.
In the future many of these mistakes can affect the child in a negative way. Parenting is being there for your child at every stage in their life and not putting work as first priority. Being there for a child gives parents the chance to set boundaries and follow through with their word. Parenting is allowing a child to decide what sport or activity they want to do and encouraging them to give it all they have. As a parent, you are your child’s number one fan, parents have to be there to support the child not be against them. It is not pushing your child away by trying to make them believe in the same things as the parent and not being too strict. Making mistakes is part of figuring out how to be a parent. So don’t worry everyone makes mistakes, just correct the mistakes before it harms the
