While many private schools mandate uniforms for their students there is an ongoing debate on whether public schools should follow in the footsteps. Public schools see many benefits in adapting uniforms. Having uniforms in schools creates a safer learning environment for students. While creating a safer learning environment it also reduces violence in schools. Implementing uniforms will also increase the focus on learning and education. Because of these positive effects it is important to continue to have more public schools enforcing uniforms.

The use of uniforms can promote a safer learning environment in the education setting. When wearing unified attire students are less likely to prioritize how they look, what to wear, and how they look. With uniforms people are still able to add their own touch and style to what they wear within the dress code drawn out. This will help reduce peer pressure and bullying that occurs at all grade levels because of how a person looks and dresses. Most importantly, implementing uniforms will level the playing field for those of a lower socioeconomic status and unable to buy new and expensive clothing. Children will spend less time in the morning before school preparing and thinking about what they are going to wear. This will help students eat a healthy breakfast before school, therefore enhancing focus and learning. Mandating uniforms may help increase student attendance and can help lower skips, tardiness, and suspensions.
