The song, Man in the Mirror, by Michael Jackson, contains more than just lyrics and rhythm, it includes a meaning. A deeper meaning. This song exemplifies how most people in the world ( who are not homeless or poor) handle, or see, those who are poor and in need. My favorite line “Who am I to be blind? Pretending not to see their needs,” explains how people can turn their blind side to those in need. I think that this is song says that one person can make a difference, and just imagine what a whole nation could do; “there are some with no home, not a nickel to loan”.
This song also makes me question my thoughts and feelings toward homeless people. Normally when I first see a homeless or poor people I think “what got them out on the streets”

and “what if I get there too?” But what I don’t ask myself is how I can make a change, how can I make this place better, how can I make it right. We don’t normally stop and think when we see someone who is at the exit on a highway ramp, or on street corners with cardboard signs, instead we try to ignore them and go on with life (most of the time). Michael Jackson says “I’m starting with the man in the mirror” which means I’m starting with you, with me. This song is really looking at yourself and finding ways to make the world a better place. The change I can make right now to help the world could be handing out gift cards to grocery stores, making rice bowls or my family so we can collect money, donate old clothes and toiletries to St.
Vincent de Paul or Goodwill, and buy an extra thing or two at the grocery store to give to those who need food. There are many things I can do to make a difference and change the world, even if the thing is small it can go a far way.
My world dream, although it might me impossible, is for everyone to have a good life with out homelessness, drug addictions, mental disorders, and live a happy life. Although some of these things are impossible and can’t be avoided others could be improved upon. Life is one try as far as we know, and I would want everyone to have a good life. A life that is able to be enjoyed and cared for. This isn't possible though; we can’t avoid disorders and deformities, that is all part of life. But, we can always improve and I think that is what I would want; everybody to try to strive toward a better world.
In conclusion, Michael Jackson was one of the famous people who had a big impact on the world due to his songs, and (I think) his most meaningful song “Man in the Mirror”. It is probably impossible to make everything perfect and right, but we can always strive to make things better, and if we didn’t then what would the world
be?
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
Michael Jackson is one of the most widely beloved entertainers and profoundly influential artists of all time; he leaves an indelible imprint on popular music and culture. Commonly referred to as the “King of Pop”, Michael Jackson continues to earn millions of dollars beyond the grave- earning over $700 million in the years since he passed away in 2009. As the pop genre derives from an abbreviation of “popular”, the King of Pop maintained record breaking popularity for extended periods of time. The relevance of the song was portraying that using drugs and alcohol will help you escape life situations. Regardless of how hard or tough it is. All you need to do is to get drunk or get high, than your problems will flush away. But the video don’t explain the reality of the outcome of how drugs and alcohol will or could affect your lifestyle and how it could lead you to lose your job, family and life. All it shows is the fun side of being intoxicated. Which, it raises a big flag on kids or teens that do have access to the media like the
Steven Gregory’s book entitled The Devil Behind The Mirror is an ethnographical study of the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is in the Caribbean, it occupies the Western half of an island, while Haiti makes up the Eastern portion. Gregory attempts to study and analyze the political, social and cultural aspects of this nation by interviewing and observing both the tourists and locals of two towns Boca Chica and Andres. Gregory’s research centers on globalization and the transnational processes which affect the political and socio-economics of the Dominican Republic. He focuses on the social culture, gender roles, economy, individual and nation identity, also authority and power relations. Several of the major relevant issues facing Dominican society include racism, sexism, and discrimination, economy of resort tourism, sex tourism and the informal economy. The objective of Gregory’s ethnographic research is to decipher exclusionary practices incorporated by resort tourism, how it has affected locals by division of class, gender, and race, increasing poverty and reliance on an informal economy.
This song is connected to this historical event because Gil Scott-Heron also included into this song of how African Americans are not given any credit. Furthermore, many treat them as even if they do not exist, especially the government and the media. Nevertheless, Scoot-Heron showed the world thru this song how African Americans were not even notice, or received an accomplishment for anything by the media or the government. Therefore, throughout this song it can be seen how Scott-Heron includes the historical event of the Black Power

An icon for decades, legend for an eternity, Michael Jackson 's impact on the world continues to thrive as a silhouette amongst pop culture. His music has influenced many people to "Xscape" from the deceptions of all the "Dirty Diana[s]." Yet, his talent has encouraged people to "Scream" through all the "Thriller[s]" they receive as his stardom illuminates the stage as the "Smooth Criminal" of performances. His songs vary from selections that you can "Jam" to, those that promote tough love and adornment, while some are advocates for equality. Jackson is and will remain one of the most profound superstars of his time and one of most dynamic artist in "HIStory."
Introduction: Perhaps no one has received this title in history “the king of pop”, now a days many artist’s have arisen and have performed but not as the king of pop known worldwide and in history, has dominated the world of pop as Michael Jackson.
You know him as the singer, the dancer, and the song writer. As the famous Artist whose words were often binary. As a man that was regarded with much adulation and scrutiny for singing and acting with audacity. The one and only, Michael Joseph Jackson, well known performer and the producer of many great songs, as well as the inventor of the moonwalk. Jackson often released songs that had powerful messages behind them e.g. 'We Are the World' and “Black and White”. Michael Jackson’s “They Don’t Care About Us” released as part of the “HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I” album in 1996, was addressed to “the people” in an effort to promote equality, justice, and peace. However, it led to unexpected controversy
Man In The Mirror is a former number one single performed by musical pop sensation Michael Jackson. The theme of the song is easy to pick up when you have a look at the chorus "I'm starting with the man in the mirror. I'm asking him to change his ways. And no message could have been any clearer. If you wanna make the world a better place. Take a look at yourself and make a change." The theme of the song clearly incorporates the idea that all wide scale change (changing world and changing perspective) stems from self change.
Ever since I first understood the world, I loved to spend time with my family. If I were ever invited to a sleepover, I would refuse nine out of ten times, so my dad and I could go see a movie. However, I’ve started to realize that not everybody is as fortunate as I am. If I were given one day and $1,000 dollars to make a difference in my community, I would savor every second. I’d gather my closest friends and family, make a trip to every nursing home in town, making every senior feel like I have for the past fourteen years.
My biggest dream of all is to be remembered. I want to touch people in such a way that they will never forget who I am. I want them to tell their grandchildren stories about me and for them to tell their grandchildren and so on. That way, I’ll still be alive years after I actually die. However, this will be very difficult.
I have a dream… you have a dream… our nation has a dream… our world has a dream. We all have a dream.
