To most people in the United States shopping is a way to relax and forget stressful situations. One way to shop is by going to the mall and site-seeing, walking, and talking. Mall of America is the largest mall in the United States. It opened its doors in the year 1992 and its executive vice president is Maureen Cahill. The case study was about how the mall has a variety of stores , space, entertainment, and its attraction mechanism to attract people. The Mall of America has a difficult task when it comes to attracting both local and visitors. The one thing that they do now is having the theme park, aquarium, cinema, and comedians. By having these things they give locals a reason to come to the mall even if they do not want to shop. On the …show more content…
other hand it gives visitors a reason to visit. One strategy that would be excellent to attract visitors is the family and business hotel that they plan on building. The best way for the mall to research on how to grow, is by looking at what the community likes and need.
Many states have certain things at the heart of the city because of what is popular to the people. In Pennsylvania, we have various stores that are our necessity and is in our convenient locations. We have Walmart’s, target , sonic, seven-eleven’s, and Wawa’s. These stores are very important to our community and they get a lot of business. On the other hand, in New York City they do not have any Wawa’s stores. There is a Walmart but about 30 minutes away . With that said, The best strategy for them to decide is to see what attracts the locals and bringing that to their convenience. In order for the mall to advertise online they will need to use social media to their advantage. They will need to use strategies like coupons, discounts, and weekly giveaway. They can advertise on Facebook or twitter to attract in a radius that will give not only locals but people out of state. In certain stores they over weekly specials or discounts that allow customers to buy the items at a very low price. This could be a good way for them to do that since they have so many retail stores, specialty stores, apparel stores, and shoe
stores. In reality what will attract is not only the different stores and entertainment, is the prices of the merchandise. The variety of stores is what attract customers and their prices. The competition of stores luring customers is what has business going. There are 520 specialty stores, 165 apparel stores, 14 jewelry stores, 26 shoe stores, and 27 restaurants. With all these stores, competition is hard and how a particular store attracts customer is advertising and pricing. By the mall creating advertisement on Facebook or twitter about the apparel stores and discounts, the sales for them will rise. On the other hand the sales for the specialty stores will decline. Either way, the mall is gaining lots and lots of business and hence bringing in more customers.
Wawa has a number of strengths that will allow them to be a successful part of the economy in Canada. Unlike competitors in the United States and around the world, Wawa has a wide range of products and services that go beyond the average convenient store. An average convenient store can be defined as “a store with extended opening hours and in a convenient location, stocking a limited range of household goods and groceries”. Not only does Wawa have extended opening hours (some being 24 hour) and convenient locations but their stock is not limited to household goods and groceries. Wawa has touch screen computers that allow the customer to choose from a large variety of fresh food including breakfast, hoagies and sandw...
Target stores, inc.is a sister company of Dayton Hudson Corporation and started in the year 1962 the same year as two other large retail stores Wal-mart and Kmart. Target has always operated with the motto “ Expect More and Pay Less” target is the third in the big three in U.S. falling behind Wal-Mart and Kmart.a major part of target's success comes from its ability to bundle bargain prices with fashionable name brand merchandise with excellent customer service. Dayton’s department store started looking into Target as a discount chain in the year of 1962 when the company saw a rising in public demand for lower priced merchandise in a family friendly and convenient environment. The name target along with the bulls eye logo were selected for the company's visual impact also to show that target aims at offering
I would suggest that they incorporate more diversity in their ads and campaigns to reach different ethnicities if they want to continue to expand. Also, in stores, particularly the Willow Grove, PA location, is very large and spacious. Upon entering the store it is primarily women’s apparel and accessories, as well as men’s. Maybe the company can incorporate more of its products in this location, to provide consumers with more of a product assortment.
In the essay, “Enclosed. Encyclopedia. Endured: The Mall of America”, by David Guterson, he describes about the Mall of America and how people essentially get addicted to shopping in the Mall of America. The Mall of America near Minneapolis is the largest shopping mall and family entertainment complex in the United States which attracts most of American as well as foreign tourist. The author describes that the Mall of America is compared to Mecca, heaven or a church, referred to as pilgrims. In other parts he describes that the mall is referred to as “an addiction” or a drug. In my opinion, I think that an addiction is more persuasive because many people get attracted to go to the Mall of America. Moreover, the mall has variety of fun places as well as the indoor theme park which fascinates most people towards the mall.
wonderful lighting but the main thing is how clean the stores are. Wal Mart stores are housed in
General indicators from the survey reflect a preference to the Springdale Mall for shoppers, even when evaluating the smallest demographic group in the sample population. The West Mall continues to rate on the lowest end of the survey with shoppers, below the Downtown Area. Using a 95% confidence interval helps ensure the maximum likely error a random shopper will differ in opinion from the point estimate results of the Springdale Shopping Survey.
Whenever we go out shopping or relaxing at malls, we actually don’t see or recognize any effects of malls as we mostly go there for these two reasons. Malls are an integral part in the lives of America. They are shopping centers that have created a lot of buzz in many writers. This is because we have more malls in America than high schools. Malls have received praises from people like James J. Farrell, Jon Pahl and George Lewis who view malls as not only shopping centers but also as places that provide a reflection of the American culture and serve as centers of pleasure and entertainment. In contrast, William Kowinski and David Gutterson criticize malls for just being an artificial environment that creates disorientation among American shoppers. In my opinion, malls are just magnificent commercial buildings that create a sense of false dreams and imagination.
Now these stores you won’t find at a mall and only downtown has them. I love exploring each and every one of the stores. On one store they may be selling colorful figurines and a collection of vivid detail blankets and the store next to it may be selling clothes or electronics from blenders to HD televisions. One of the many reasons I like to go into the stores is to glance at the way they’re decorated. It’s just amazing
What makes Augusta So Boring? Is it because of the multiple chain stores being built in our city yearly, or because we’ve had not yet explored all the things there are to do. We may be focused too much on chain stores and not the actual city and the things that are offered. For some who may have lived in a certain place all their life they may tend to feel that the city they reside in can get boring at times. “In Praise of Chains” by Virginia Postrel she states that “Stores don’t give places there character” (p347). And I agree with that statement, chain stores do not define the city, chain stores have not turned Augusta into a boring city a boring city because of the variety, familiarity, and history.
Goss argues that developers and designers of the built environment, specifically shopping centers and malls, use the power of place and understanding the structural layout of the space to boost consumption of the retail profits. Shopping centers are separated from the downtown area of shopping either by distance and/or design. These establishments emerge for many to be the new heart and location for public and social life. In his article The "Magic of the Mall": An Analysis of Form, Function, and Meaning in the Contemporary Retail Built Environment, Goss also argues that the regulation of the spaces within the mall creates an atmosphere of "community" rather than one that is "public".
Whenever a huge corporation such as Walmart moves into an area with local stores and merchants, all of them are bound to go out of business because all the customers will be attracted to the huge selections and discount. There has been huge protest by these merchants and locals whenever a Walmart is being decided to be implanted there. This hurts their business which can make families go bankrupt and although it can create job opportunities within the Walmart but as you know Walmart has really bad working conditions such as no wages and unfair treatment. Walmart is also to be said to be the most poorly run and understaffed retail store. In previous studies Walmart was shown to be listed as the lowest in customer satisfaction. If you have visited a Walmart previously you might have seen the customers swarming over just 2 or 3 checkout lanes. In recent days Walmart has been better about this by opening more lanes up whenever there are more

Places such as coffee shops and lounges have been included in the structures of these malls to give consumers a more comfortable feeling of relaxation. Instead of shopping and leaving people are more enticed to sit back and relax. Enjoying a meal and a cup of coffee while shopping has become a time consuming yet enjoyable process for most shoppers. It's suggested that the longer a person stays the more money they are bound to spend. Mall managers and scientist are not attempting to manipulate the consumer but more so enhance their shopping experience. There's also a sense of creativity and connectivity found in calming environments such as coffee shops that establishments like shopping malls are trying to bring to the shopping
Variety is another advantage of the mall. There are specialty stores, such as candle stores, bath and beauty stores and music and video stores. These are the anchors of the mall, and the mall provides "odd stores" for those eccentric shoppers who are looking for different items.
Going to the mall is like being at a zoo. Herds of inconsiderate teenagers crowd the walkways, girls fight over the best pair of shoes, and the merchandise is thrown all over the place. Imagine being able to have a stress free day of shopping without annoying kids running around and the ease of looking at perfect displays that have not been touched by the grimy hands of children. If you could eliminate the younger population from the mall, shopping would be much easier for everyone. Parents can enjoy their day out, girls-day won’t be interrupted by kids running a muck in the store, the employees jobs will be easier by not having to fix the displays that were messed up by children, and the amount of merchandise stolen will decrease if the younger population sticks to online shopping!
