Make a Wish Foundation of America To hope. To dream. To wish. These are aspirations found inside each and every one of us. To selflessly help others achieve their hopes and dreams, to grant their wishes. These are the fundamental qualities that make us a great people. A loving, benevolent society, whose only concern is the well-being of others. Make-A-Wish Foundation of America strives to grant children diagnosed with a life-threatening condition, a life changing wish. To make the lives of the children better, and to support the friends and family of these truly special children. It was the year 1980. US Customs Agent Tommy Austin tells Arizona Department of Public Safety Officer Ron Cox about his dilemma. His wife’s friend Linda had a small …show more content…
The charity was overwhelmed by the amount of people who wanted to be a part of the wonder. In the May of 1983, the national Make-A-Wish Foundation was incorporated, and multiple chapters were opened across the nation. Make a Wish Foundation of America has impacted the lives of children everywhere. More than 226,000 children have benefited from the hope, strength and joy of experiencing their one heartfelt wish. Nearly 14,000 wishes have been granted each year, on average, one every 38 minutes. Wishes are a source of emotional strength for children which helps them cope with their illnesses and often contributes to improved physical well-being. Most of the wishes fall into four major categories. Some children want to travel to their favorite theme park, or visit an exotic beach, or see snow for the first time. Some children get to be somebody for a day, like a firefighter or police officer. Some children get to meet their favorite athlete, recording artist, public figure or movie star. Some children wish for a special gift, like a computer, a tree house, or something they have yearned for a long time. Over 90% of Make a Wish parents believe their child’s ability to cope with their illness has increased greatly. That the wish granting has reinforced family ties to support their child’s fight against their illness. Virtually all of the parents of sick children have reported an increase in their desire to give back or help another

Everyone wishes for a magical day in their life where they could be a princess for a day. Some wish to have a fluffy, long and pink dress, or a crown on their head. I always wished and wished that I could be that princess. On March 28th of 2015, that wish came true.
E). Normally when people make a wish for something they will always ask for that things. Even though the majority of these people like to wait for hope, but if they do not try to do it and also have a faith in the things that you ask for a hope. It will be hard for them to have a success wish as they ask for.

Also, the whole family needs to come to term with the health condition, make change in priorities and schedule, and keep the family. For example, it can be much more stressful for a young or a newly married couple because they may have more experience to overcome life's difficulties. As a result, as with individual maturation, family development can be delayed or even revert to a previous level of functioning (Hockenberry, p 762.) Therefore, health care providers need to apply family development theory while planning care for a child and family with chronic health condition. Indeed, family centered care should be a part of that intervention. Parents and family members have huge and comprehensive caregiving responsibilities for their chronically ill child at home or at hospital. Moreover, the main goal taking care of chronic ill child is to “minimize the progression of the disease and maximize the child’s physical, cognitive, psychological potential” (Hockenberry, p 763). Therefore, it is essential to family being part of the child care to give highest quality of care. On the other hand, we are as a part of the health care provider need to give attention to all

Years ago, the United States of America was the prime example of prosperity and opportunity. In recent years, in the worst recession since the Great Depression, unemployment and interest rates have skyrocketed. The “American Dream” is an idea that was once a commonly accepted ideology in this country. It has since become only a fallacy. The “American Dream” is no longer an attainable idea, only a fantasy. The “American Dream” is not a true dream that will ever be equally attainable by everyone.

Hello, my name is Vanessa Mercado and I am an advocate for the DREAM act. Many high school graduates in the United States come from immigrant families are not able to go to college, serve in the military, find a job, or pursue the American dream. This is because of the label passed on to them called “Illegal immigrant”. These children were brought to the United States illicitly at a young age. Most of these children have lived in the United States for most of their lives and consider this nation as their home. Our country has been having issues with the massive amount of illegal immigrants residing and employed in the United States.
Having a wish fulfilled is a desire everyone keeps, but granting one is a special characteristic of a chosen few. Such is the ideology of the Make a wish foundation. This simple, but powerful belief is what drives the Make-A-Wish foundation. For children who must face the uncertainty of a tomorrow, due to their rapidly deteriorating health, a wish is more than just a desire. It’s a hope. Hope is what carries us out of the darkest of slums, to keep going. To face a tomorrow. Make-A-Wish is committed to granting the wish of every eligible child. They do this believing that wishes can make sick children feel better, and sometimes, when they feel better, they get better. Since the spring of 1980, they have been granting the wishes of children diagnosed with a life-threatening medical conditions. The make a wish foundation has the ability to not only unite a society as whole and further the awareness of life threatening illnesses, but also gives hope to individuals and a community as a whole.
The most important thing to me is success; it’s a thing I must have. Success can mean a lot of different things to different people; it just depends on the person. Success to me is a business standpoint; I have so many goals I’ve set for myself business and financial wise, success comes to me in those ways. In order for me to feel like I’ve actually succeeded in life I must reach these goals. If I reach these goals I have many plans that will contribute to the benefiting of society, like starting a camp for all types of kids. It would be somewhere they could go in the summer to stay out of trouble and have tons of fun without the risk of going through many of the pressures children experience while out with friends hanging out at home. I would have four wheelers; fishing, camping, and many other things children love to do.
This hospital focuses on helping children, in particular, children who have cancer or any other life-threatening diseases. “The mission is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay” (St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 2017). These children are constantly attached to an IV in the hospital, unlike other children who don’t have any life-threating diseases. These children are unable to enjoy their childhood they way the other children do. This is the reason why we decided to a do a toy drive so with just the little bit of happiness they get when they receive these toys, can help distracted them to where they are and the pain they are going
