10. Weald and Down land Museum
The 40-year-old Weald and Downland museum is a leading museum of historic buildings. The museum is on an area of 50 acre and has 50 historic buildings. These buildings are from the period between 13th and 19th century Britain. The sheer effort of reconstructing historic building is awe-inspiring. However, you will get more because some of these houses also contain farms and workplaces, giving you a taste of the life of that period.
During the visit, you can enjoy some of the activities of the museum. These are designed to give you the impression of being much closer to the lifestyle of the past. There are demonstrators who will go through some of the typical tasks live. As you go through different periods, you will obtain a feeling of how the lifestyle changed over time. Special events are also organized throughout the year.

In conclusion, visiting the History Museum of North Carolina was a great way to experience world culture. The assignment was truly amazing, because I went with purpose, and new look on the influence of the world’s culture today. It is very surprising to find so much of the world wrapped into one big melting pot. You experience the world around you outside of your textbook, living room, and computer. The people living next to you, and even in your very house makeup the different cultural aspects of our community.
Now today, there are still over 900 Cathedrals standing today in our world thanks to our OLD generation masons! Today you wouldn’t find people building cathedrals anymore. You would find some being repaired but never built. Well technically, a tiny church can become a cathedral if a bishop uses it as his official church but other than that none are being built today that my research knows of.
It was a beautiful Saturday evening when I decided to walk the neighborhood known as the melting pot of many diverse cultures and social groups. South Street, located in the city of Philadelphia, is home of over 400 different small shops, restaurants, and galleries. Unlike other neighborhoods, South Street isn’t spread over numerous blocks, instead, it takes up one long street that is miles long. This lively and vibrant neighborhood sure does have a personality of its own and examples of modernity are shown throughout this Philadelphia neighborhood in very distinct ways.

I chose two cathedrals for my post, the Durham Cathedral and the Chartres Cathedral. The Durham Cathedral, my example of Romanesque architecture, was built from local sandstone in 1087-1133 CE (the east wing was replaced in 1242) and is currently located in Nothern England. The Gothic style structure, the Chartres Cathedral (also known as the Cathedral of Notre-Dame), was mostly constructed between 1194 and 1220 CE due to a fire causing it to be rebuilt. Assembled utilizing limestone, this colossal structure is currently located in France and is known for it’s strikingly beautiful stained-glass windows. Gothic architects created a frame of support with columns and arches so that the walls no longer need to support the ceilings, but are freed up to hold windows. The Gothic structure allows for plenty of windows. Chartres has a significant collection of medieval stained glass, with over 150 early thirteenth century windows. The windows allowed sunlight to enter the dark, Gothic cathedral in order to highlight the story of Christ through the stained glass windows told throughout history to pilgrims alike. During my visit to the Pérez Art Museum Miami, I did more than just observing beautiful artworks. With the guidelines provided I could appreciate and study also the hidden meaning of some of the pieces I had in front of me. Some of them were easier than other ones, due to previous knowledge I had, but all of them made me examine them in a critic way that enriched my cultural heritage.
‘New museology’ is the concept of modernising museums and making them more interesting and interactive for the visitors. The District Six Museum is a good example of new museology because it is a relatively new museum that was started and run by the community, not the state and it is very different to older museums. It is very appropriate to have a museum like this in South Africa, because what happened in District Six should not be forgotten and museums like this one encourage people to visit them and find out more about what has happened. Part of new museology is to teach people more about what happened in the past by using more interactive displays; the District Six Museum does this by using a range of interesting and interactive displays.

Throughout the whole museum you can see different topics about our own history and heritage. It’s not enough in a limited period to be able to appreciate and listen to all the audio or comprehend all the information that they have transmitted through the available exhibits. It’s sad that I been here in this city for a very long time and was not aware of this cultural museum. Now that I recognize the abundant amount one can learn about Mexican heritage by visiting La Plaza de Cultura y Artes museum I will spread the word to my associates, friends, and family. It absolutely makes you appreciate the Mexican legacy and allows you to see all the history that has taken place in recent times within those partitions throughout the entire museum.

Museums are places of memory that provides the link of distant past to the present generation which also help the society to know the path their forebears trod. The main purpose of museum is neither to educate nor entertain but rather creates a memory bank would remind us of the past. No wonder most societies in different parts of the world traced their origin through the works of arts history. However, all types of these have their own roles of information institutions in national development. The inside of the museum was intense because you walk into see two huge dinosaur structures in the front. There were also many entrances to different exhibits on top the entrances were enormous murals depicting various things. The murals showed all of the cultures around the world. All of the cultures are able to mix in with each other. For instance, the mural on top of the Asian Peoples exhibit was showing the many different Asian cultures such as Japanese, Korean, and Chinese mixing into one huge mural. There was the mural on top of the African Peoples exhibit that included prominent animals such as, lions and elephants. And lastly for the South American Peoples exhibit that included Theodore Roosevelt in the mural signifying the creation of the Panama Canal. I like how the murals all had the same color schemes.
